I know it's Chelsea and the Kings Road but isn't £5.80 for a pint of Sam Brooks Pale Ale over the top!!!!
21 Jun 2018 10:13
Now called the "Keg and Cask" - but don't sell Cask beer
Avoid I was charged £4.10 for a pint of Fosters.
7 Jun 2018 10:21
Has been re named "KTM ROXI" whatever that means.
Big banner outside says Now Open Bar & Kitchen"
I did not go in as I like to stick to real ale if possible.
24 Aug 2017 09:52
Went passed here yesterday (19/7/17) and this place is now part demolished.
It is just the bit that was the Lounge Bar the rest is still standing--strange???
20 Jul 2017 11:43
Brewhouse and Kitchen, Sutton Coldfield
Too expensive for a pub with a spoons next door and Yates's over the road.
8 Jun 2017 10:41
Not a bad JDW but not brilliant - had a very nice pint of Exmoor Gold in here last Saturday which cost £2.35
8 Jun 2017 10:36
Went past here last Saturday and still closed with metal barriers surrounding the place.
8 Jun 2017 10:32
Went passed here at the week end and it has been demolished.
23 May 2017 11:39
In here just after 1.00pm last Saturday and a bit quiet.
A number of screens were showing the Rangers v Celtic game.
3 hand pulls for Young's Bitter, Wells Bombardier and Old Hooky.
Had a little chuckle as the Bombardier was on the Doom Bore Pump..
I had a very nicely kept pint of the Old Hooky which cost £3.95.
3 May 2017 08:15
The Inn on the Marsh, Moreton in Marsh
Marston's stable on sale here.
In here just after mid day last Saturday and a few others in.
Well worth a visit if in town.
I had a nice pint of Ringwood's Best for a very reasonable £2.95.
3 May 2017 08:08
Overrated and expensive ...
£4.30 for a pint of Twickenham Grandstand is out of order.
Go to the White Horse near by.
3 Apr 2017 13:07
Just have to agree with "curleysue" and other posters this is a gem.
A must visit if in the area.
23 Mar 2017 08:13
The Lion and Unicorn, Kentish Town
This is Kentish Town not Mayfair or Belgravia so £4.70 for a pint of Twickenham Grandstand is out of order!!!!!
23 Mar 2017 08:06
The Sussex Yeoman, Goring By Sea
Hungry Horse pub so Green King.
Here last Saturday and quite busy but only 2 real ales available.
GK IPA & Abbott.
I had a pint of the latter which was ok and cost £3.30.
20 Feb 2017 13:35
The Boot Inn, Sutton Coldfield
Re visit here last Saturday just before 2.00pm and a half doz or so in.
Disappointing ale selection with just GK IPA and Doom Bore on.
15 Feb 2017 12:44
This place in now open again.
Passing by I didn't go in but just had a look through the window.
Not many customers as is usual here. Looks quite smart.
There are 3 hand pulls on the bar but one was without a clip.
The other two were Fullers London Pride and the dreaded Doom Bore.
15 Dec 2016 07:36
Still closed but a new name has appeared so in future (till they change it again)
this place will be called "The Snug"
8 Dec 2016 08:45
Another change in the name of this place. It now is:-
VIVAAN Indian Restaurant & Bar.
21 Nov 2016 12:47
In here just after 2.00pm last Saturday and it's smart enough in side with a fair few in. Two bar both showing Horse Racing on TV.
Only problem is the beer. Only two hand pulls for London Pride & Doom Bore.
I had a pint of the Pride which was as flat as a pancake and cost £3.80.
21 Nov 2016 12:42
Here last Saturday and it's sad to see the big old pub boarded up.
The co-op is opposite.
21 Nov 2016 12:37
In here last Saturday just after 5.00pm and the place is buzzing.
Good service too from a nice looking barmaid.
My only criticism is there is only one hand pull for Hobgoblin.
Could be worse with none or one but for the dreaded Doom Bore.
18 Nov 2016 13:00
Closed and boarded up and from the look of things it has been like this for quite a while.
18 Nov 2016 12:56
Closed for refurbishment but note on door says reopening at end of month.
11 Nov 2016 07:44
The Adam and Eve Tavern, Lincoln
After leaving the Morning Star I headed down the hill to this place arriving @ 12.20pm. Also GBG 2017 listed.
The last poster gives a good description of the place. Some quite loud piped music was playing. In a side room a TV was showing some footy.
They have 4 hand pulls for Old Speckled Hen, Charnwoods Hubble Bubble, TT Landlord and Castle Rock Harvest Pale.
I had a pint of the later which was so nice I had another @ £3.30 a pint.
4 Nov 2016 13:02
I was in here last Saturday just after 11.30am and 6 others were present.
This is a nice little back street boozer which I am visiting due to their place in the GBG 2017.
There is a stone floor with wooden furniture with soft seating.
A large plasma screen is switched off.
At the rear there is a small snug type room also with a TV which is off.
They have 6 hand pulls for Doom Bore, Wells Bombardier and Golden Cauldron.
Ruddles Best, Timothy Taylor Golden Best and Pleasantry Dancing Dragonfly.
I had a pint of the latter which was very nice and cost £3.60.
4 Nov 2016 12:55
Yes a must visit if in the area. In the Good Beer Guide 2017.
Difficult to describe interior - go for yourself and see.
5 hand pulls from little known brewers and NO Doom Bore.
I was here last Saturday and about a dozen others in just after 1.00pm.
I had a very nice pint of Newby Wyke Horizon which cost £3.20.
4 Nov 2016 08:27
This is by far the best of the three pubs in the area.
I was here last Saturday after my visit to the White Horse.
Nice interior with a selection of furniture including comfy looking sofas.
2 plasma screens are showing the Munster v Glasgow rugby.
They have 5 hand pulls and NO DOOM BORE!!!
2 for Black Sheep ,1 for Wells Bombardier and 1 for Exeter Fall Over with the other for cider.
I had a pint of the Black Sheep that was so nice I had another @ £3.30 a pint.
24 Oct 2016 12:43
In here last Saturday just after 1.00pm and about half a dozen others present.
It has a all wood interior with soft seating with a bit of stone flooring by the bar.
Some quite loud piped music was playing.
I don't tend to eat in pubs but found it strange that customers were having to ask for a menu as there were none on the tables - therefore no impulse buying.
They have 4 hand pulls but 1 was not being used.
I paid £3.55 for a pint of Charnwood Salvation but it went as it was being poured so I has a very nice pint of TT Landlord instead.
The other ale available was Doom Bore.
24 Oct 2016 08:28
The Earl of Stamford, Leicester
Ignore the signage outside there is no real ale available in this pub.
24 Oct 2016 08:17
Richmond & Hounslow CAMRA branch pub of the year 2016 - well done AGAIN.
21 Oct 2016 12:40
In here last Saturday after visiting the Globe.
Only two others present although 4 others came in later.
No TV in here although they do have a dart board.
4 hand pulls for Doom Bore, Directors, Adnams Southwold Bitter and Ghost Ship.
I had a pint of the latter which cost £3.50.
Now I am off to the Bell which is not on this site.
Only one hand pull in there and you guested it it's for Doom Bore (£3.10.)
18 Oct 2016 12:58
It's quite nice in here.
I was in last Saturday just after one in the afternoon and there were 6 others present plus two kids who were playing pool.
There are lots of tables and chairs and a large plasma screen was showing the Chelsea v Leicester match.
There are three hand pulls all for McMullen's beers:- Cask Ale, Country Bitter and AK.
I had a pint of the latter which was ok and cost £3.10.
18 Oct 2016 12:50
Yes this is a pub co chain but this one is in the Good Beer Guide 2016.
In here last Saturday and quite busy. Lots of TV screens showing BBC/Sky News.
Piped music is also playing in the background.
Not brilliant selection on the 5 hand pulls.
Doom Bore, Buttcome Bitter, Courage Directors & Black Sheep Bitter, Old Rosie Cider.
I had a pint of the Black Sheep which was ok and cost £2.39 with 10% discount for having a CAMRA card.
A sign outside says "All cask ale £1.95 on Tuesdays"
11 Oct 2016 07:42
Walked in here last Saturday but no real ale so walked out again.
10 Oct 2016 12:47
The Eight Jolly Brewers, Gainsborough
Wow rated 8.8 prior to this post.
Who am I to change that for what is a small but cracking pub.
Here last Saturday just after 1.00pm and half a dozen others present.
Some piped music was plying in the background.
They have 9 hand pulls with 8 for ale and one for cider.
All ales from little know brewers with no sign of the dreaded doom bore.
I had a pint of Doncaster brewers Glenworths Summer End which was very nice indeed for £2.60 a pint.
Only the pressure of time stopped me trying another.
10 Oct 2016 12:45
In here last Saturday just after 12.45 and already a good dozen in including a couple playing domies.
Very comfy with soft seats and nice carpets.
They have a dart board and a large TV (switched off).
6 hand pulls for Adnams Southwold Bitter, Wells Bombardier Burning Gold.
I had a pint of the latter for £3.00.
I think this pub is in the Good Beer Guide 2016.
22 Jul 2016 08:17
Nice interior with lots of space.
In here last Saturday just after 11.00 am.
The Cider festival means that 4 of the 8 hand pulls are for Cider.
That leaves just 4 for Ruddles, Abbott and Doom Bore. and a guest.
The only guest was some kind of stout so I quaffed a couple of pints of Abbott and left just after 12.00 when some other pubs would now be open.
22 Jul 2016 08:05
In here last Saturday and must say very good has 8 hand pulls for beers from not so well know breweries.....no sign of the dreaded Doom Bore or anything similar.
All priced at a very reasonable £2.50 a pint. GBG LISTED THIS YEAR.
A must visit if in the area.
11 Jul 2016 07:29
Ceased to trade as a pub 7 years ago now.
Now being converted in to living accommodation.
8 Jul 2016 07:44
Here on Saturday last and there is no doubt this is a very smart pub.
However there is a big sign outside that says:-
"A Fantastic Range of Cask Ale always available at the King Harold"
That is NOT what you get inside as they only have TWO hand pulls.
On this occasion one was blank and the other had Golden Hen which was ok and cost £3.30 a pint.
Time to remove that misleading sign I think!!!!!!
31 May 2016 08:33
In the Good Beer Guide 2016 and simply fantastic - a MUST visit if in Leek.
10 hand pulls 8 for beer and 2 for cider.
23 May 2016 08:34
This is the first time I have known a Yates's to be in the GBG.
In Swindon early last Saturday morning I just had to make a visit.
Yes they have 6 hand pulls, 5 had ales and 1 had a Perry on called "Pickled Parrott" @ 6%.
The regular ale is one of Bombardier, 6X or Hobgoblin.
The other four are for rrgular changing real ales.
I had a pint of Steam Box Brewery Hare's Share which was 4.5% and very nice and cost £2.70.
4 Apr 2016 08:38
It's the Railway Hotel that is closed not this place.
In here last Saturday and had a very nice pint of Alton Pride
19 Feb 2016 08:05
Went past here yesterday and it was all boarded up.
A bit too small to be changed into a supermarket.
8 Feb 2016 08:10
Same price here £4.10 for Sheer Drop as in the Barley Mow.
1 Feb 2016 12:59
Ok but nothing special except the prices- £4.10 for a pint of Sheer Drop is out of order.
1 Feb 2016 12:57
according to the Whatpub web site this place should open at 11.00.
I was here last Saturday at 11.20 and not a sign of it opening.
25 Jan 2016 13:00
Here last Saturday and I thought this place was closed it is so dirty dark and dingy on the outside but it’s not too bad inside.
It’s just after 1.00 and there are six others present.
It’s comfy enough and a small screen was showing the Norwich v Liverpool footy. There is also a dart board.
3 hand pulls but one unused. Doom Bar & Abbott are on offer so I go for a pint of the latter which is very nice and costs £2.80.
25 Jan 2016 08:18
In here last Saturday early afternoon and only five others present.
My first visit since the refurb of 2013 and I think it has ruined the place.
I had a quick pint of Young's Bitter (for £4.00) and then left.
18 Jan 2016 13:56
The user rating for this pub says it all - superb!!
I was here last Saturday just after 1.00pm and just a couple of others in.
They have 10 hand pulls with 8 for Ale and 2 for Cider.
Of the selection available one of my favourites OKHAMS CITRA was on.
It was as excellent as ever as I quaffed down a couple of pints (£3.00 a pint)
Would liked to have stayed for another but time was not on my side.
1 Dec 2015 12:50
In here just after 5.00pm last Saturday and this is a classic back street boozer.
Good crowd of over two dozen others also present with one little barmaid managing to keep us all served without much of a wait.
There is a lot of wooden panelling and carpets with is very cosy.
They have a large TV which was switched off as loud piped music was playing.
Only 2 hand pulls 1 for Doom Bore and I for Adnams Ghost Ship.
Needless to say I had the latter which was very nice and cost £3.40 a pint.
23 Nov 2015 07:45
I agree with the last post this is a cracking little back street boozer.
In here last Saturday just after 1.00pm and half a doz others present.
Comfy enough with a stone floor near the bar but carpeted elsewhere.
Some quite loud piped music was playing.
They have 3 hand pulls for Doom Bore, Pedigree and Bass.
I had a very nice pint of Bass which cost £3.40.
Pity I didn’t have the time to stay for another.
4 Nov 2015 07:33
Richmond & Hounslow CAMRA branch pub of the year 2015 - well done.
27 Oct 2015 12:46
In here last Saturday just before 1.00pm and about half a dozen others present.
5 hand pulls for Woodfords Wherry, London Pride, Seadog and Dirty Tackle. I cider Old Rosie.
I had a nice pint of the Wherry which cost £3.05.
They have wooden flooring and comfortable seating and some piped music was playing.
Nice enough then with the competition od Weatherspoons just over the road.
Has been in the Good Beer Guide (2010?)
19 Oct 2015 13:03
In here last Saturday about 1.00pm and just 4 others present.
This bar is quite small realy but some celing fans keep in airy.
3 hand pulls but only the 2 in use for Ringwoods Best Bitter & 49er.
I go for a pint of the 49er which is very nice and cost £3.60.
Some light piped music is playing in the background.
15 Sep 2015 13:01
This place is now serving real ale sham it's the dreded Doom Bore!!
15 Sep 2015 12:55
In here last Saturday about mid day and about half a dozen others in.
Two bars with one side set for diners. A few bar stools could be used though.
6 hand pulls split 3/3 on each side of the bar.
Only 2 ales on at the time Tim Taylors Landlord & Ringwood Best Bitter.
I try a pint of the latter which is ok and cost £3.40.
Some piped music is playing and the large plasma screen is showning the BBC News Channel (Corbyn's victory speech-sound turned down thank God!!)
In the GBG 2015.
15 Sep 2015 12:53
In here early last Saturday afternoon and very nice it is too.
As this is a Marstons pub real ale is always available from their stable of breweries.
Also no chance (correct me if I am wrong) of finding any Doom Bore!!
They had Pedigree, Bank’s Bitter, Hobgoblin Gold and Thwaites Wainright on their 4 hand pulls.
I had a nice pint of the later which cost £3.45.
7 Sep 2015 13:05
In here last Saturday just before 1.00pm and about a half dozen others present.
It’s nice and comfortable and a big plasma screen was showing football focus (just ending).
They have 4 hand pulls for Belhaven Old Gold, Doom Bore, Adnams Southwold Bitter and Bass.
I had a pint of the later which was very nice and cost £3.40.
There is a GBG sticker in the door window dated 2014 but I didn’t see one dated 2015.
7 Sep 2015 12:57
Went past here yesterday (Sunday) at 2.00pm and it was closed.
24 Aug 2015 08:31
In here last Saturday just after 2.00pm and good crowd of over 20 in.
Nice enough back street boozer with two bars.
They have two TV's but both were switched off and some loud piped music was playing.
Pool table and dart board.
Only I hand pull (better than none) for Wye Valley Summer @ £3.00 a pint and very nice it was too.
19 Aug 2015 08:34
In here last Saturday just after 2.00 pm and I thought that had been a power failure.
There wasn’t a light on in the house.
Just 3 others and a young boy were all sitting at the bar chatting to the barman (Landlord?)
They have 3 hand pulls but only Kent’s Best was on. Had the clip for Masterbrew turned round and the other was blank.
So we had to have a pint of the former which was not very nice bordering on sour tasting.
At £3.50 a pint I wasn’t going to have another one.
11 Aug 2015 12:49
The Blue Boar, Walsham le Willows
Yes as per the last post the furniture is split on two levels.
The front tables are set for diners but the back have all the comfy arm chairs etc.
In here last Saturday around 2.00pm and there are just two others present.
A very pleasant barmaid serves me a pint of Old Golden Hen for £3.10 which is well kept.
I try a pint of the St Edmunds next for £3.20. also very nice.
They also have Woodfords Werry and Greene King XXX mild on their total of 4 hand pulls.
Some piped music is playing in the background.
Unlike the Six Bells this place stays open all afternoon.
3 Aug 2015 12:57
In here at 1.30pm last Saturday.
The bright front room gives way to the dark rear where the bar is situated.
Four others including the Landlord are playing crib.
The Landlord get up to serve me a nice pint of Adnams Ghost Ship for £3.20.
Also on tap are GK IPA, Marstons Pedigree and a Chimney’s Ales Military Mild. There is also one pump that is blank.
They have a pool table and some radio station is playing down low.
Beware they close in the afternoon here even at weekends.
3 Aug 2015 12:45
The Wheatsheaf, Stoke on Trent
I always make for here when in Stoke - only 10 mins from Railway Station.
In here last Saturday just before 11.00.
They have 12 hand pulls with no less than SEVEN different guest ales.
They vary in price from £2.15 to £2.40 depending on the strength.
28 Jul 2015 08:40
OK this is a pleasant enough JDW pub.
In here last Saturday early afternoon.
They have 12 hand pull but today they have only ONE guest ale on.
This is very poor and I have never known that before in a JDW pub.
The usual Ruddles/Abbott/Doom Bar are available and that’s it.
Three of the pumps have cider clips on when all the cider comes out of a BOX.
Good job I am only visiting to see a game at the footy club so I will not have to come here again.
22 Jul 2015 08:53
I was walking past here last night when I noticed that it had reopened following the recent fire.
I decided to venture in only to be met by as overwhelming stench of fresh paint.
The place needs to be given a good airing out!!
There are 2 hand pulls on the bar but both had the clips for the dreaded Doom Bar so I turned and walked out.
I do not plan to return any time soon.
17 Jul 2015 08:21
Yet another change of name for this place "Shack 68" is a bit naff just like the pub.
13 May 2015 12:54
The Waggon and Horses, Elstree
Not a bad little pub mostly carpet and wooden furniture.
I was in here early last Saturday afternoon and only one other customer present.
Some overloud piped music is playing.
4 hand pulls but only 2 in use for the dreaded Doombar and Tim Taylors Landlord.
I try a pint of the latter which is hazy and a bit too cold and cost £3.80.
Now I have got some time on my hands and no where else to go so I try another pint of Landlord which is a bit clearer this time.
5 May 2015 08:12
The Horse and Jockey, Stapleford
Great pub and I stayed there last week end.
Basic rooms with shared washing facilitys but at £25 a night you can't complain.
The local ale "Full Mash" is still available @ £2.50 a pint with 10p off for CAMRA members. Very nice it is too.
28 Apr 2015 16:09
Agreed the is a Members only CLUB not a pub.
A pub is a public house open to all.
16 Apr 2015 15:56
Agree with the last poster.
I used to always go here when in the area.
There was a barmaid called Mandy who was great - could serve about three punters at once.
Sad to say I have made my last visit as £4.10 a pint for Surrey Hill is over the top.
16 Apr 2015 15:54
A fire in the basement has closed this place untill further notice.
30 Mar 2015 14:44
In here the Saturday before last and what a cracking little pub this is.
Quite narrow but inside it goes a fair way back.
Mostly wooden interior with soft seats. It’s early afternoon and about a dozen others are present.
They have 7 hand pulls split 6/1 on each end of the bar.
As you enter you will see the 6 with the other on at the other end of the “L” shaped bar.
The 6 were GK IPA, Golden Hen, Ruddles County, Hogsback TEA, Rocking Robin Blizzard of Oz and Surrey Hills Collusion.
I had a pint of the latter which was very nice and cost £3.60.
The pump on its own had a Abbott clip on it but it was turned round.
23 Feb 2015 12:59
THIS PLACE IS NOT AS BAD AS SOME OF THE REVIEWS ON HERE MAKE OUT.
I WAS HERE LAST SATURDAY EARLY AFTERNOON AND THERE WAS NOTHING WRONG WITH MY PINT OF FULLERS FRONT ROW FOR £3.85.
OTHER BEERS AVAILABLE ON 6 HAND PULLS WERE PRIDE (X2), ESB, ADNAMS
GHOST SHIP AND SOME BEER FROM BRAINS THAT I DIDN'T GET THE NAME.
SOME PIPED MUSIC WAS PLAYING AND TWO TV'S WERE SHOWING THE NEWS FROM SKY AND THE BBC.
17 Feb 2015 13:10
The Yew Tree 'Time well spent', Reigate Hill
In here just after noon last Saturday and I am they only customer.
It is very smart in here with the bar seperated from the dining area by a large fire place (no fire on). Some pipped music is playing.
This place has been in the Good Beer Guide in the past but I don't think they are now.
They have 3 hand pulls for the dreded Doom Bar, Youngs Bitter and Black Sheep Bitter.
I had a pint of the latter which was ok and cost £4.00.
17 Feb 2015 08:28

They have a dart board and a pool table.
26 Jan 2015 08:21
The Cherry Tree, Oldland Common
In here early afternoon last Saturday and I am the only customer.
It is smart enough in here and quite comfy.
5 hand pulls but only one in use for Doom Bar so I had to have that for £3.10 a pint. (this may explain the lack of customers!!)
2 large plasma screens are showing the rugby Wasps v Leinster.
They also have a dart board.
26 Jan 2015 08:15
The Crown and Horseshoe, Oldland Common
In here last Saturday just after 1.00pm.
Nice locals pub that is much bigger inside than it looks from outside.
There are two bars but the dozen or so punters are all in the one.
They have 8 hand pulls split 4/4 in each bar but only three ales on.
Courage Best, Doom Bar and Bath Ales Gem.
I had a pint of the latter which was so nice I had another which cost £3.35.
A large TV was showing the Ross Co v Celtic footy.
2 dart boards and a pool table
26 Jan 2015 08:08
In here early afternoon last Saturday and nice comfy little boozer.
Four others are present.
They have a dart board and two TV’s were showing Football and Darts.
2 Hand pulls 1 for Marstons Burton Bitter and 1 for Pedigree.
I had a pint of the latter which was quite nice and cost £3.40.

There is a fair crowd in early afternoon and piped music is playing.
They have 6 hand pulls but only 3 in use from Greene King.
IPA, Abbott and Old Speckled Hen.
I had a pint of the Hen which was very nice and cost £3.40.
22 Dec 2014 12:17
In here last Saturday and quite nice for a hotel bar.
There is a fair crowd in early afternoon and piped music is playing.
They have 6 hand pulls but only 3 in use from Greene King.
IPA, Abbott and Old Speckled Hen.
I had a pint of the Hen which was very nice and cost £3.40.
22 Dec 2014 12:14
I was here last Saturday and the place was closed with workmen on site.
Not sure what they are doing?
22 Dec 2014 12:09
In here early afternoon last Saturday and no real ale.
Made do with a pint of fizz (Carling) which cost £3.40
15 Dec 2014 12:52
Re visit last Saturday early afternoon.
Bit the same as my last post i.e busy with people eating. hand pulls.
Wells Eagle IPA and Bombardier and Harveys BB.
I had a loverly pint of the later for £3.60.
15 Dec 2014 08:31
Good News this place is a pub again and has been for some time apparently.
They have two bars and a separate restaurant side.
I was here just after 2.00 last Saturday and piped music is playing.
They have a dart board and a pools table.
2 hand pulls but one (Harvey’s BB) had the clip turned round.
This left just Gails Seafarers Ale for £3.50 a pint which was very nice indeed.
15 Dec 2014 08:27
In here early last Saturday evening.
The music is playing so loud that the locals are having to shout to make themselves heard.
4 hand pulls but only 3 are in use for Greene King IPA , Abbott and Old Speckled Hen.
I had a quick pint of the Hen for £3.00 in a hurry to get out of here.
3 Dec 2014 12:58
This pub was in the GBG so I was very disappointed when I made a visit early last Saturday evening.
The pub is alright, bright and comfortable. A TV is showing “Final Score” which is just finishing.
Only one other customer is present.
The disappointment is in the beer selection.
They have 5 hand pulls but only 2 are in use for Greene King IPA and Charles Wells Bombardier.

Bethnal Green Bitter & Kiwi are the too in question and very nice they are too @ a very reasonable £3.50 a pint.
With regard to the comments by LiamB below I find them hard to believe.
I am always wary of someone who makes just one post just to criticise and slag off a place.
Must have some ulterior motive has he been barred or something of the sort so is seeking revenge?

4 others present and a TV showing darts from Australia.
Great sign outside says Mitchele & Butlers with a Bear and ragged staff in the middle and Bear Hotel underneath.
2 Sep 2013 07:48
As this is a Sam Smiths pub they are never going to get in the Good Beer Guide.
But it’s a nice enough pub and if you click on image two at the top of this page you will see a nice picture of the exterior.

Ok interior and not at all smelly as listed below.
Had a pint of fizz which was Carling and cost £2.89
29 Jul 2013 08:44
Beware a notice outside this pub says:-
"One ale of a real pub-regular guest ales"
What do we have inside = Bass, Courage Best and Youngs BB from the 3 hand pulls.
Now this is only a small bar so to get to it I had to squeeze between a couple of right tw@ts who have their newspapers spread out over it.
Usual suspect fizz drinkers.

I had a pint of the Youngs which was ok and cost £3.30

I had a very nice pint of the latter for £3.85 which is a bit dear in my book.
15 Jul 2013 08:44
The Roaring Donkey, Holland on Sea
This is a Hungry Horse pub so just Greene King IPA and Abbott on sale from 6 hand pulls split 3/3 in two bars.
Very smart for a back street boozer with plenty of flat screen TV’s showing the ashes cricket when I visited early last Saturday afternoon.
Some background music is on but it’s not too loud. A small party was going on in one of the bars.
Service was good from a friendly barman who served me a very nice pint of Abbott for £2.90.

They have five hand pulls of ever changing ales sandwiched by two “T” bars for the fizzy stuff.
I had a pint of Maldon’s for £3.00. A chalk board above the bar says “Wednesday £2.50 all ales”
They also have a “We are in the GBG 2013” sticker in the window.
15 Jul 2013 08:15
Well the header to this page says it all and a quick flick through the images leaves nothing for me to add about this pub other than the beer selection.
In here last Saturday afternoon after 2.00 and quite busy but service was very good.
4 hand pulls for 1 each of Sharpes Cornish Wobbler, Surrey Hills Sheer Drop,
Sam Brooks Wandell and Harveys Sussex Best Bitter.
I had a pint of the Wandell which was nice and cost £3.60 and also a pint of the

8 Jul 2013 08:34

2 Jul 2013 08:45
I was in here last Saturday pm and unlike JohnPA found the sevice very poor.
No one serving but a woman was on a mobile phone behind the bar.

4 hand pulls with one out of use, 1 for London Pride 1 for Robinsons Trooper.
1 for Jennings Cumberland Ale which i tried and it was ok and cost £3.14 a pint.

OK but not as good a pub as it used to be.
10 hand pulls split 4/6 each end of the bar.
4 for Badger, 2 for Tangelfoot 2 for Brewers Bee & 2 for King & Barnes Sussex.
Now this is not a big pub, Open spaces at both ends but quite narrow in the middle by the bar which is where 5 larger drinking tw@ts had decided to stand right in front of the 6 hand pulls.
I tried a pint of the Badger @ £3.35 which was OK but not outstanding.
24 Jun 2013 08:16
The Crown and Sceptre, Feltham
I was beginning to wonder what was happening to this place as there has been no activity here now for months.
Then just a couple of weeks ago changes began.
Now some posters have appeared on the outside confirming it is going to be a Tesco afterall.
Not like them to leave a place so long like this.
19 Jun 2013 08:21
In here last Saturday and half a dozen punters present just after mid day.
Not much more to add to the posts below.
10 Hand pulls with prices of > 4.5% £3.40 a pint and over that £3.60.
CAMRA members get a 10% discount so thats £3.06/£3.24 very resonable.
I tried a couple of the ales and both were in top condition.
17 Jun 2013 08:35
The Prince of Wales, Twickenham
In here yesterday (Sunday) afternoon and unlike The Rifleman there are over a dozen punters in with a couple dining.
A large plasma screen was showing Golf till someone turned up who wanted the Tennis on.
They have 5 hand pulls and I had a very nice pint of Twickenham Sundancer for £3.40 from a very chearful barman.
10 Jun 2013 13:24
Like the last poster I was the only customer when I visited this pub yesterday (Sunday) afternoon @ approx 1.30 pm. Shame as this is a cracking little pub.
Ok a bit off the beaten track - just walk down the side of The Prince of Wales for a few yards.
5 hand pulls on the bar I had a nice pint of Twickenham Vanguard for £3.45
A large plasma screen was showing the Sri Lanka v New Zealand cricket.
10 Jun 2013 13:18
The Battle of Trafalgar, Brighton
It is a steep walk up the hill to this place - fall and you'll just roll down again.
Fairly loud music playing.
They have 4 hand pulls but my pint of Harveys BB was the worst I have had all day - it went flat after about 2 minutes. (cost £3.60)
Worth a vist though.
10 Jun 2013 08:48
Tiny little Shepherd Neame bozzer.
More punters sitting outside than in last Saturday afternoon when I visited.
3 hand pulls. I went for a pint of the Master Brew which was OK for £3.20
A TV was on showing BBC News without the sound but with sub titles.
Agree with the last poster regarding the visit to the loo-I wouldn't want to be too
pissed as you would proberly fall down and never get up again.
10 Jun 2013 08:43
This is a gem of a little back street boozer just off the main drag in Hove.
About 14/18 other punters in last Saturday afternoon made the place seem full.
Only 2 hand pulls with only Harveys BB on offer for £3.50 a pint - very nice too.
There is some fairly loud music playing and a TV showing GP practice.
10 Jun 2013 08:35
This is a very plesent little boozer bright and quite smart inside.
The picture shown above is a bit missleading as it makes it look dark and dreary.
Some quite loud music is playing.
They have 6 hand pulls.
I try a pint of the Hammerhead Red Hunter for £3.80.
10 Jun 2013 08:29
OK place for a beer or two. Number of punters sitting outside in the sun.
Some quite loud piped music was playing.
Big plasma screen showing cricket Eng v Aussies.
Can some one please tell me why with anywhere to stand by the bar there always seems to be some tosser standing in front of the hand pull blocking your view of what is on. Said offending person is always drinking larger too.
6 hand pulls 5 ales and I Cider.
I played safe with a nice pint of Harveys BB for £3.30.
10 Jun 2013 08:15
In here for the first time for a few years and a bit shocked by the lack of other drinkers. This place was always busy when I was here in the past.
Only six others present and it's just after 2 on a Saturday afternoon.
6 hand pulls split 3/3 on both sides of the bar.
I had a pint of Harveys BB @ £3.70 which was ok but not tip top.
10 Jun 2013 08:06
In here on Saturday about noon and a fair crowd in.
This is a must visit if ever in the area.
Has 10 hand pumps 4 for the Dark Star beers.
I had a pint of the Dark Star Summer Solstice for £3.30 which was very nice.
No sight of the offending brew as mentioned by Mr Harwood below.
They did have a Brodies Mild (£3.10 a pint)on one of the hand pulls though.
10 Jun 2013 07:54
This place should have a much better rating.
In here on Saturday just before noon and three plasma screens are on.
2 showing rugby Reds v Lions and the other cricket Eng v Aussies.
They have four hand pulls with one being unused.
The other three had Tim Taylors Landlord. Doom Bar & Harvey’s BB.
I had a pint of the later which was so nice I stopped here again on my way back to the station later in the evening for another.
Cost was £3.60 a pint.
10 Jun 2013 07:47
O no I am having to agree with MillHouse with regard to this pub and the great service received.
One of the Barmaids showed me how to fill in a form for a 15% discount loyalty card.
The card is then issued so long as you can show them a valid CAMRA membership card.
When first taken over by Fullers the selection here was a bit limited but there are a lot more guest ales on now.
7 Jun 2013 13:14
In here last Saturday lunch time and about a dozen others present.
I got here by the number 7 bus (took 10 mins) from Colmore Row and getting off at Newtown Swimming Pool.
The pub is just behind it in front of you as you get off the bus to the right.
9 hand pulls split 3/3/3 around the bar serving 6 different Oakhams Ales which are listed by price/strenth on a large chalk board.
Prices are from £2.60-£3.20 a pint.
I tried a pint of JHB for £2.80 and a pint of Bishops Farewell for £3.00 both were excellent.
5 Jun 2013 08:45
The Rose and Crown, Thorpe Green
In here last Saturday about 1.30pm and quite busy mostly for diners.
A few spare tables but not many and the foods not cheap either. I stuck with the beer.
They have 7 hand pumps 4 to the right as you go in with 3 others round the other side to the left.
Only three different ales on:- Tim Taylors Landlord. Adnams Southwold Bitter (£3.85 a pint) & Sharpe Doom Bar (£3.80 a pint)
I tried a pint each of the Adnams and the Sharps and they were OK but a bit too cold.
20 May 2013 08:07
The Grove Tavern, Tunbridge Wells
OK but over rated I would say.
In here last Saturday after visiting the Compasses up the road.
If this place is in the GBG why not the Compasses which is far supirior.
Quite small one bar pub has 4 Hand Pulls.
Harveys BB & Olympia, Tim Taylors Landlord and Youngs Bitter.
I tried a pint of the Harveys BB which was OK @ £3.35 a pint.
14 May 2013 13:00
Nearest Pub to the Station has 10 hand pulls for 10 different ales.
Nice friendly barmaid. Plasma screen showing Scum v Chelsea.
Pricing is as follows:- 3%-4.1% is £3.00 4.2%-5% is £3.50 & 5.1%+ is £4.00 a pint
I had a pint of Millisbrewery Company Dartford Wobble for £3.50 was very nice.
14 May 2013 08:44
The Compasses, Tunbridge Wells
Up this way last Saturday to visit the Grove but as it was before 12 it was closed.
Moved on here to see a big sign outside saying "Open from 11am daily"
I entered and what a gem of a place. A notice tells you that this is the oldest pub in TW.
Now its only 11.30 and there are only two other punters in so service was spot on from a friendly barman.
There are 7 hand pumps split on two sides 4/3. A chalk board tells you the selction. The had Abbott and GK IPA, Hydes Original BB, Darkstar Hophead,
Old Dairy Gold Top and Everards Tiger, one tap was not being used.
I had a pint of Hydes (£3.15) followed by a pint of Gold Top (£3.20) both were very good and well kept.
13 May 2013 13:15
The Opera House, Tunbridge Wells
In here last Saturday and OK by me.
There are two bars, one as you enter on the left is "L" shaped and has 12 hand pulls split 6/6 on each side. The near side has 6 guest ales, 3 from Westerham Kent Beers and 3 others. The far side has 2x Ruddles 2x Doom Bar & 2x Abbott.
I tried a pint of the Westerham Pride of Kent which was very nice @ £2.49 a pint.
The bar at the far end of the pub has 6 hand pulls with a mixture of the above.
If you can't find anything you like from that lot you are not trying!!!
13 May 2013 13:00
The Rose and Crown, Tunbridge Wells
Sorry but I think this place is very poor for a pub in the GNG (or were?)
Only two hand pulls 1 for Adnams Light House and 1 for Harveys BB
I had a pint of the later which was ok @ £3.20 a pint.
13 May 2013 12:51
The Swan Inn and Bistro, Olney
In here last Saturday and just as described by Blackthorn below.
By far the best pub in the town. (Try to avoid the Two Brewers (not on this site) I was charged £3.85 for a pint of Black Sheep Bitter there)
5 hand pulls for London Pride (£3.10) Young’s Bitter, Adnams Southwold and Spitfire all @ £2.90 a pint.
There was also a guest ale – Whittlebury Amarillo which was 5.2% and sold for a bargain £2.70 a pint and very nice it was too.
8 May 2013 07:53
Disappointing set up here with strange seating arrangement and some cushions scattered around.
4 hand pulls 2 x Eagle IPA 1 for Courage Directors 1 for DNA.
I had a pint of the latter which was quite nice and cost £3.40.
8 May 2013 07:39
Can't add anything possitive about this pub other than 20p off a pint for camra members.
Doom Bar the only ale on 3 hand pumps with another for cider.
Served in the dreaded PLASTIC. Do they normaly have trouble with the theatre crowd??
29 Apr 2013 08:18
Very smart inside and comfy. 2 dart boards and a large flat screen showing the
Man C v W/ham game but no one was watching it? about a dozen others present
@ about 1.30pm last Saturday.
4 hand pulls = Fullers ESB & Pride, Hobgobln & Ringwoods Best Bitter.
I had a pint of the BB (£2.90) and also a Pride (£3.20) after both well kept.
29 Apr 2013 07:40

Dosn't look to have been abandoned like the Holbury Inn
29 Apr 2013 07:32
Closed with metal fencing blokking anyone from useing the car park out front.
29 Apr 2013 07:28
Went past this pub last night @ about 7 and it was closed.
A notice on the door says "Closed untill further notice"
As this is the smallest pub in Hounslow I dont think it will be turning into a Tesco any time soon.
9 Apr 2013 07:09
In here last Saturday and would say best pub in the area.
They have six hand pulls split 3/3 in two bars.
The have two clips on each pump so you don't have to ask what is on in the other bar.
I tried an Evan Evans ale and also Jennings Cocker Hoop both @ £2.80 a pint.
Both were well kept and excelent.
13 Mar 2013 12:20
The last poster has got it wrong this is not The Rose.
That is further up the High St (away from bus garage)on the opposite sid of the road.
Was also know as The Charriot years ago but has been closed for about four years now.
25 Feb 2013 12:49
This place was closed @ 3.00 pm last Saturday and dosn't look as if it opens any longer.
May have gone the same way as the White Horse
13 Feb 2013 13:03
Best pub in town for me selling Joules 3 beers from 7 pumps split 4/3 in two bars
I tried the Pale Ale and the Slumbering Monk both were tip top @ £2.80 a pint.
In at about 1.00pm so only a few customers who were being well behaved.
This place is currently rated at 2.8 which is a joke!! 8/10 for me.
13 Feb 2013 12:57

Just outside the Station but still not open till 2 on Saturday.
Not many trains stop here to be fair.

The Royal Sovereign, Bexhill-on-sea

I tried the latter which was so nice I had another @ £3.40 a pint.
4 Feb 2013 12:09
This is a Greene King Hungrey Horse pub and not bad at all.
Only ales on sale on my visit last Saturday were IPA, Abbott & Old Speckled Hen.
I had a nice pint of Hen @ £2.90 but when I went for another it was off as was the Abbott which means IPA that was coming up like milk for the last customer before me. Poor show in my book.
Had a bottle of hen for £2.95
16 Jan 2013 08:27
The Honourable Pilot, Gillingham
This is a Brewers Fayre pub attached to a Premier Inn.
More of a Resturant but they do have a small area where drinkers can sit.
No Real Ale. You would be better off up the road at the Star.
15 Jan 2013 13:23
Went in here just after mid day last Saturday so they had only just opened.
Wooden interior furniture and floor.
A nice brick fire place was on in the middle of the floor.
Bit of background music playing.
They have 4 hand pulls but two had their clips turned round.
The other two were Youngs Bitter and Harveys Best Bitter.
I had a pint of the latter which was very nice and cost £3.45.
19 Dec 2012 12:43
I was in this Shepherd Neeme house last Saturday early afternoon.
Wood interior and a nice fire going to warm up the place.
They only have 3 hand pumps and one of them was blank.
Of the others two one had Kent Best but that went as I was being served.
The only other one was the SN Christmas Ale which was OK and cost £3.55 a pint.
The White Hart down the road is a much better pub but is not shown on this site.
19 Dec 2012 12:38

Walked in but no real ale so walked back out again.
12 Nov 2012 07:28
Average back street boozer just out of town centre.
Six hand pumps but ALL with a Master Brew Clip on.

Fair number in with jock footy on the box ICT v Herts.
12 Nov 2012 07:26
You will find 10 hand pulls in here 3 for Joules beers so I had a very nice pint of Slumbering Monk for 3.00. I cider on draught.
Nice to see a Mild on sale which in this case it was Titanic but I didn't have time to sample it.
Another MUST visit. In the GBG 2013.
25 Oct 2012 08:01
Good old fasioned boozer in the middle of town and a MUST visit.
They have 8 hand pulls spread around three sides of the bar 3/3/2 so if you don't fancy what you see at first look for the others.
Marstons stable of beers on sale so I went for a pint of Banks Sunbeam @3.10
25 Oct 2012 07:55

Coach and Horses, Wellingborough
Possibly the best pub in town with 16 hand pulls

Spoiled a bit by a few regulars (own puter tankard etc) standing in the middle
of the bar blocking your view of all that is on offer.
I tried a pint of Mauldons Silver Adder @ 3.10 which was very nice.
8 Oct 2012 08:17

10 hand pulls 9 for ale and 1 for cider. Guest ales are 1.99 a pint.
1 Oct 2012 12:41
In here last Saturday and the place is packed.
Mostly because of the Arsenal v Chelsea game.
A surprising number of Arsenal replica shirts being worn.
Disappointing ale selection of 3 hands pulls only Greene King IPA available.
Two were blank with a Old Hen clip turned round on one.
The IPA was not bad though and cost 2.49 a pint.
1 Oct 2012 12:35
This is a cracking pub. Very comfortable, clean neat and tidy.
In here last Saturday about 1.00pm with some groundhoper mates.
Unfortunately we were the only customers which is strange for such a cracking place.
There are 6 hand pulls 3 were for Old Forge Brewery Ales & 2 for Half Penny Ales.
I tried one of each and both were excellent and cost 2.90 a pint.
Easy to see why they are listed in the 2013 Good Beer Guide.

but two didn't have anything on.
Another two had Pedigree but with the clips turned round which only left the EPA so had a pint of that which was OK and cost 2.90
22 May 2012 08:26
In here last Saturday and the place is heaving with footy fans watching the Blackpool v West Ham game. Looks like the only pub in the High St showing it.
Dispite this there are lots serving and got done straight away.
Quite a number of hand pulls but couldn't make out what was on offer so went for a pint of the Brewers Gold @3.10 delightfull, then West Ham got the winner.

Poster on the Wall says "We are in the Good Beer Guide 2012"
Only three hand pulls but two were unused.
The only beer being Banks's Sunbeam which was a cracking pint so had two but then had to leave to get my footy fix at the M&B club up the road.
Cost of said ale was 3.25 a pint.
15 May 2012 08:26
Here on Saturday and a very sad sight it is too.
Being converted into a Tesco to open in July.
Sad loss as this was a smashing pub when I was last here in the 80's
15 May 2012 08:15

Had a couple of pints of their guest ale @ 2.45 a pint

The Whiteleaf Cross, Princes Risborough
Smart all wood interior
3 hand pulls for GK IPA a guest and Abbott.

8 May 2012 08:08
I have got news for you MillHouse as I was in there yesterday and the price of a pint of Brodies is now 2.35, still a bargain though but now dearer than the 2.15 a pint in the Drum up the road.
But that is for the guest ales as they don't sell Brodies.

23 Apr 2012 08:25
Arnold MacHin, Newcastle under Lyme
In here Saturday morning and very busy but got served OK.
Just a shame the adults with children can't keep them from running riot about the place. I was tempted to stick a leg out and trip one of the little blighters to see them go a*** over t** and hopefuly eat carpet on the way down.
10 hand pulls 5 for guests which sell @ 1.99 a pint.
23 Apr 2012 08:20
The Boat and Horses, Newcastle under Lyme

Quite small for a JDW pub but one of the better ones.
Good service and no less than 12 hand pulls.
6 are for Titanic. I tried a pint of Slipway and also a pint of Maiden Voiage which were both excellent and sold for 1.99 a pint as did most others.
3 other guests were on with 1 pump each for Courage Directors, Abbott and Ruddles.
23 Apr 2012 07:55
This is the third carvery type Pub within a mile of each other.
Calder Island (Toby) and Swan & Sygnet (Marstons) are the others.
I didn't eat but did note that the food was more expensive in here.
3 hand pulls 1 for Black Sheep BB @ 2.95 which was very poor.
I for Copper Dragon which was quite nice and cost 3.25.
The other which I didn't try was Havistun.
Best value overall is the Toby place which is not listed on this site.
17 Apr 2012 13:03
The Swan and Cygnet, Wakefield
Four years on and not a lot has changed from aleandheartys post of 5/2/08.
Not bad but not as good as the Toby carvery up the road "Calder Island."
Poor selection of ales with six hand pulls 4 are for Pedigree @ 2.95 which was very average. The other two are for Hobgoblin but I didn't try that.
17 Apr 2012 12:57

Just don't go there and go out and get a life!!!!!!!!
15 Mar 2012 08:30
I don't think I have ever been in sutch a smart pub as this before.
In the area last Saturday and had to pop in, needed a snakes hiss so had to have a drink too but had to have fiz as no real ale.
With lots of leather sofas and arm chairs as well as lots of plants & shrubs.
Lots of different pictures all over the walls. Big plasma screens showing the footy. All this place lacks is REAL ALE!!!

5 Mar 2012 08:20
I was here last Saturday but unlike kgilson it was not quiet.
Just after 11.00 am and its match day @ Carrow Road and already the replica shirts are gathering. O and there are goons on the door too.
Only 5 hand pumps here, lowest I've known for a JDW pub.
3 were for Woodfords Werry and 2 for some other less known ale which I can't remember the name of. I had a pint of Wherry @ 2.40 and it was quite nice but spoilt a bit by being served in plastic.
24 Feb 2012 07:41
Recently instaled hand pump so just the one real ale on in here.
One is better than NONE (Green Dragon please note!!!!)
Woodfords Werry was the beer in question and very nice it was too for 3.10 a pint.

21 Feb 2012 08:10
This place was very busy last Saturday lunch time when I visited.
More of a restaurant than a pub with all tables taken by diners and others waiting. Foood is not cheap either.
The bar is a fair size so managed to pirtch on one of the half dozen bar stools.
4 hand pumps with Fullers London Pride, Adnams Lighthouse & Broadside.

16 Jan 2012 08:37
The pub sign is on the main Crew road but the pub its self is 200 yards or so down a lane.
This could be a cracking pub if someone put a bit more effort in to it.
Three hand pulls with one unused. The others were Hoggoblin and Jennings Cumberland ale which I tried and found it to be a bit bland @2.85 a pint.
16 Jan 2012 08:31
In here last Saturday for a quick pint before catching a train.
Have two hand pumps so I tried the Deuchars which came out like a pint of milk. A few minutes later it still hadn't settled so asked for it to be changed to the other one which was Tetleys Cask which was almost the same. Very poor more like a smothflow than a cask ale should be.
if I had had the time I would have gone back to the Yeoman up the road.
16 Jan 2012 08:21
Agree with pocketcup nice set up wooden floors and a nice fire going on what was a very chilly day last Saturday.
Two sides with the small bar in the middle with 3 hand pumps on each side.
All thee beer are from the Joules Brewery who must own or lease the pub.
I tried the Pale Ale first (2.70 a pint) missed the Blonde but then tried the very nice Slumbering Monk @2.80 and would have had another but didn't have the time.

Some old dear was eating something that turned out to be Bubble & Squeak with a fried egg on top and a little side pot with some baked beans in it for 8.50!! I stick to the beer.
They have 3 hand pulls but only two were in use.
Greene King IPA and Sharps Doombar which was 3.30 a pint but well kept.
Now that is 40p more than the dearest pint in the White Lion next door.
15 Aug 2011 07:22
The Hare and Hounds, Warlingham
In here last Saturday and very quiet, only two other customers.
Three unused hand pulls.
Nice and cosy but lacks the White Lion buz.
9 Aug 2011 12:52
Nice little Ember Inns pub with 10 hand pumps serving 5 different real ales.
There are five at the front as you enter with the other five at the rear.
As with most EI pubs the price per pint is marked on the pump/tap so you know what you will have to pay before ordering.
They had GK IPA (2.30) Fullers Summer Ale (2.60) Pride (2.70) Caledonian Nectar (2.80) and Adnams Broadside (2.90)
I tried the FSA and the CN and both were in very good condition.
8 Aug 2011 08:50
The Wheatsheaf, Virginia Water
More of a food place than a drinking den.
I was in here last Saturday lunch time and they were fairly busy but I didn't have to wait long to be served.
4 hand pulls but a disapointing range of Directors (which was off), Prdegree.
I tried the GK IPA @ 3.15 and then London Pride @ 3.45 just OK.
25 Jul 2011 07:37
The Boot Inn, Sutton Coldfield
In here on Sunday Lunch time.
A nice large locals pub but everyone was friendly enough. Good service.
They have three handpulls Old Speckled Hen, Abbott and Black Sheep Bitter
which I tried @ 2.70 a pint which was not bad.
A number of Flat screens scatered about showing the GP.
13 Jul 2011 08:30
In here on Saturday Lunch time
No real ale in here just the normal T bar offerings.
Two TV's on one showing Racing and the other Cricket.
O and by the way a very nice barmaid!!!
13 Jul 2011 08:23
In here last Saturday lunch time.
6 handpulls, one for cider and two guest ales.
The other three are from their own on the premises brewery.
Whistling Joe, John Baker Original and the one I went for Brandysnapper which
sold for 2.75 a pint. I would liked to have stayed to try the other two but didn't have the time.
Large Garden at the back that runs down to the river.
13 Jul 2011 08:19
In here last Saturday lunch time.
My heart dropped as I entered as there appeard to be no real ale.
How wrong I was as there are three handpulls situated at the back part of the
bar that are not easley see on entry. (go under the roof beam to find thease)
GK IPA, Sharps Doom Bar and Black Sheep Bitter were on sale.
13 Jul 2011 08:09
The Shakespeare Inn, Birmingham
In here on Saturday morning just after 11.00 so a bit quiet.
Eight handpulls one had cider on the others all real ale @ 2.35 - 3.10 a pint
I tried the localy brewed Purity UBU @ 2.65 and very nice it was too.
A good place for a quick pint if catching a train as some of the other pubs around the station do not open till 12. (ie the Crown & the Victoria)
13 Jul 2011 07:41
The Bridge, Birmingham New Street station
Disagree with the last post.
Do not hang around here,Fosters is 3.50 a pint.
There are loads of pubs within a few minutes walk of the station.
One is even called the Shakespear as well and has SEVEN real ales on sale.
Come out of the station in to New Street and turn left.
You will find in pub in Lower Temple street a minute or two on the left
13 Jul 2011 07:33
The Moon on the Square, Feltham
Note your concern MillHouse but spitting your dummy out ????????
1 Jun 2011 07:28
SEVENTEEN HAND PUMPS IN HERE SERVING 15 DIFFERENT BEERS. (Last Sat 28/5)
As this is a JDW pub 4 are for GK Abbot & Ruddles rest all guests.
Most are 2.15 - 2.30 a pint. Front of pub has 11 but at the rear of this long
pub is another bar with 6 on. A must go if ever in Croydon.
31 May 2011 08:03
Sorry but forgot to mention in my last post (11/4) the word "Famous" has been
droped so in now just "The George Orwell"
18 May 2011 07:26
The Crown and Sceptre, Feltham
Two years on and this place is still closed.
No sign of it being turned into anything
6 May 2011 08:08
Another run down pub that is now closed and boarded.
What now another Tesco???????
6 May 2011 08:05
In here last Saturday for the first time in years.
Hard to believe this was once a JDW its so small.
There are five had pulld but only two different ales on
Courage Best @ 2.10 a pint and Wells Bombadere @ 2.30
11 Apr 2011 08:27
The Duke of Wellington, Hounslow
No real ale on here but not a bad pub to go to for footy.
All games are shown even if there is a clash as there was yesterday.
The Fulham game was on at one end of the pub and Brentford's Wembley game
on at the other end.
Apears to have new Management who were very good.
4 Apr 2011 08:59
The Red Cow, Market Harborough
Small for a High Street pub with an even smaller bar but big enough for 5 hand
pumps between the T bars. Greene King so Abbott, IPA, Old Speckled Hen and a
guest beer which was Coach House Dick Terpin one pump unused.
Also selling cheap fiz with Carlsberg @ 1.99 a pint.
15 Feb 2011 08:07
The Cambridgeshire Hunter, Eynesbury
In here last Saturday and very smart boozer.
Shame about the beer choice.
Three pumps with two for Eagle IPA.
The other was Youngs Gold but when I asked for a pint the Landlord said
"Sorry we sold all of that last night"
7 Feb 2011 12:46
Small local but okish with three hand pumps
1 x GK IPA, 1 x London Pride & 1 x Hobgibblin.
7 Feb 2011 12:41
In here last Saturday and very poor.
Three hand pumps but nothing available
Only one had a clip for GK IPA but that was off.
The young man behind the bar did try by pulling off a drop.
He then had a quick smell of it before shaking his head.
7 Feb 2011 12:38
In here last Saturday and very disappointed.
Six hand pumps but only two beers available
Eagle IPA on two and Hooky Bitter on one.
One with nothing and another with Directors but clip turned round.
The other one had Everards Tiger with a Coming Soon note attached.
7 Feb 2011 12:33
Was in here last Friday for Xmas Lunch (had the 3 course for 9.99 and very nice it was too)
Only two real ales on Sale Marstons EPA @ 2.55 and a bargin in Youngs
Special for only 2.25 so I quoffed a couple of pints of that.
9 Dec 2010 12:58
Visited this place yesterday and found that its only the food that is more expensive than you would normaly find in a JDW pub
Guest ales are mostly 2.30 the same as you pay in the Railway
8 Dec 2010 12:57
The William Morris, Hammersmith
Well said "localboozer" I have suffered too seeing one of my favorite ales only to be told it was off.
Service is also poor here sometimes only one person on.
I was given a pint yesterday that looked like mud but when I complained I was told "its only a bit cloudy!!" I instised I wasn't drinking that as I would be ill next day so they begrugingly gave me a pint of something else.
8 Dec 2010 12:53
The Springhead Tavern, Darlaston
This is not a bad place and better than some in the area.
It is a Black Country Brewery pub and there are 4 hand pumps 3 are for guests
but I went for a pint of the Black Country BFG (which stands for Bradleys Finest Golden) which was a very reasonable 2.15.
18 Nov 2010 13:02
This is highly recomended if ever in the area as I was last Saturday.
I think you will find this place in the GBG.
Holdens is the brewery and there are 3 hand pumps 1 for Holdens Black Country Bitter @ 2.10, I for Holdens Goldenglow @ 2.30 and I for a guest which was Pelham Island @ 2.55
18 Nov 2010 12:56
No Real Ale here as no had pumps. Not a lot else either so left with out a drink
last Saturday
18 Nov 2010 12:48
In here last Saturday and it didn't seam like an Ember Inn to me.
I have since checked out the Ember Inn website and that confirmed that this is NOT an Ember Inn.
I had a average pint of Broadsord for 3.25.
Drink and food prices in excess of what you would pay in an Ember Inn
4 Oct 2010 08:29
The Moon on the Square, Feltham
More rubbish this time from someone called "17sleeper".
First post just to slag off this place....
All I can say is come here and see for your self that this is a normal well run JDW pub with value for money ales and food.
There are not punch ups every night so if that what you want you are wasting your time here
23 Sep 2010 07:37
The Moon on the Square, Feltham
I agree with robhealy this IS a well run pub.
lunarega (profile hidden!!!!!) must have some kind of grudge against the place.
note his/her limited number of posts to this site.
I use this place at least 5 times a week and can't remember the last time there was any kind of trouble in here. Do they just wait for me to leave before it all kicks off????????????
If it was that bad the Police would have closed it down by now.
Well done to Gary and the gang for providing excelent service and real ales.
O and by the way there was no barrel on the bar last night.
Any chance you can keep it that way please?
21 Sep 2010 08:14
In here last Saturday on way back from footy.
Two bars but only the one open at this time the smaller one with the pool table in prominence in the centre of the room. The larger one has a stage at the top.
Still only one real ale;- Marstons Pedigree @ 2.80 a pint
7 Sep 2010 12:44
The Elephant and Castle, Newtown
I feel sorry for LUCFEB if they realy did spoil his wedding day.
Bit wary though this is his only post.
I made a few visits over the last Bank Holiday week end while staying at the Bell
Found the service good as were the ales on sale especially Monty's Mojo
2 Sep 2010 12:57
Stayed here last Bank Holiday week end and all was fine.
(Breakfast could have been better though)
Clean and tidy rooms. Good selection of real ales at reasonable prices.
2 Sep 2010 12:51
Well said "fluteharmonique8" this place just can't be faulted.
Anyone not happy with their beer just has to say so and I am sure it would be changed
To all at the Welly "keep up the good work and well done"
25 Aug 2010 13:28
Not far to go now and im almost at the Horsfall Stadium.
This is another pub with no pumps so no real ale.
A bit disapointing this place. Carling is 2.80 a pint.
Now to the game and PA score in stoppage time to win 2 -1
25 Aug 2010 13:15
At last my sixth try (1 closed) and I find a pub selling Real Ale.
6 pumps but only selling Tetleys cask & Black Sheep Bitter.
I plump for the later but as its the first sale of the day its a bit disapointing
dispite the lady behind the bar pulling off plenty before serving me. (2.45pint)
Nice enough pub though. Would have tried another but havn't go the time.
25 Aug 2010 13:09
Arrive here to find a Cask Maque sign on the outside but would you beleive it
at just gone 1.30 on a Saturday afternoon and this place is CLOSED.
25 Aug 2010 13:02
This is a big very comfortable boozer but with no pumps and no real ale
Fosters is 1.90 a pint.
Now i'm off to the Woodman
25 Aug 2010 12:57
This place has 4 pumps but still no real ale just very cheap fizz!!
Pints of Carlesberg for 1.50, Fosters @ 1.80 & Carling @ 1.95
So now i'm off to the Craven Hefer
25 Aug 2010 12:53
Another Bradford pub that's up "For Sale" 3 hand pumps but nothing on them.
Cosy enough with flat screens for Sport
25 Aug 2010 12:49
In Bradford last Sat (21/08) for Footy @ PA v Chasetown.
Nice day so decied to walk from town via Manchester/Halifax Roads
This place is up for Sale. Has no Real Ale. Dead (3 customers on a Sat pm)
So now its off to Listers
25 Aug 2010 12:46
By far the best pub in Guiseley as I visited last Saturday (7/8) on way to footy
Very good range of real alses ranging from Tetleys Cask @1.99 to TT Landlord
@ 2.75 which was excellent.
9 Aug 2010 07:54
Nice little pub on Main Road just outside of Coalville 2 Bars
4 hand pumps but only two in use 1 Everards Original 1 Tiger which sold for a
reasonable 2.80 a pint.
Closes in the afternoon even on a Saturday.
26 Jul 2010 07:30
Nothing has changed following dalglish's comments.
Still half pub half restaurant.
5 hand pumps on bar but one was unused. 3 Adnams beers BB/B'side/Explorer
and 1 for GK IPA
I had the Broadside at a whoping 3.40
7 Jul 2010 12:58
I was in here last Saturday and still no real ale so left without making a purchase. Big "For Sale" notice hanging outside.
7 Jul 2010 12:51
Best pub in town shame they only have one pump for RA however I had a very nice pint of Nethergate Suffolk County in here last Saturday at a very reasonable 2.80
7 Jul 2010 12:48
A big sign outside says Under new management so poped in.
6 hand pumps Courage Best (x2) Sharps Doombar, Ruddles County,London Pride
and Wells Bombidere which I had and it was very average and cost 3.10 a pint
21 Jun 2010 08:00
This is a classic back street locals pub but strangers are also made to feel welcome.
Not easy to find so check the map. Close to Stains Station.
I went there last Saturday lunchtime.
There are two bars. 7 hand pumps. 4 in one bar and 3 in the other but only 2 in each bar in use selling Courage Best & Sharps Doombar which was not bad at 2.90 a pint.
21 Jun 2010 07:50
Visited here last Saturday. Now I think that if you can get a pint for less than 3
its a bargain but where did they get 2.97 from? Anyway thats what I paid for a
pint of Brains Rev James and it was excellent. 5 pumps in here and the others were London Pride, GK IPA, Wells Bombidere & Thwaites Old Perculier. Cheap fiz also on sale with Fosters @ 2.30 and John Smiths keg @ 2.25 a pint.
1 Jun 2010 07:54
In here on Saturday only two real ales GK IPA and SN Spitfire. Tried a pint of the Spitfire was a bit bland
24 May 2010 12:38
Didn't bother with this one just a glance through the window and all I could see was a pump with a GK IPA clip on it
24 May 2010 08:56
Only four pumps and only two beers GK Abbott & IPA very disapointing
24 May 2010 08:53
I was in here last Saturday and a very mixed crowd were enjoying themselves.
I counted five pubs in the high street and not only is this the best but it's also the only one NOT selling GK IPA...hooray. I don't mind the old pint but the choice of other beers is limited.
Not in here as you would expect from a JDW pub.
This place is large clean and bright and cheap also..no need to go anywhere else.
24 May 2010 08:51
I was in here last Saturday and can recomend this place if you need a pint
before/after you catch your train.
The Harvester next to the station has no real ale so just walk across the road for a few yards and you will arrive here.
On entering the bar has 3 pumps 2 for London Pride and 1 for Courage Best (@2.55 a pint) but if you just walk round the corner to the main part of the bar there are another 5 pumps although one was not in use and also another had Pride on as well. The other 3 were made up of Adnams Broadside, Hydes Tightrope and Rudgate Ruby Mild all @ a very reasonable 2.70 a pint.
This is a Ember Inns pub so food is very good value as well. The service was very good with a very polite manager.
17 May 2010 07:11
In here last Sat and very busy. An unexpected coach party had decided to drop of for lunch. Anyway the staff were able to handel the situation real fine.
A very pleasent young lady even apologised for keeping me waiting for what was only 3-4 mins. There are 3 hand pumps serving London Pride and Sharps Doom Bar @ 3.05 a pint but I went for the Rev James at a very reasonable 2.85 a pint. The lower bar also has 2 pumps but they are without clips and apeared to be unused.
11 May 2010 08:00
Sorry "work hard" but I was in here last Monday (Bank Hol) and I had a pint of
Kents Best and it was horrible..soapy tasting and flat.
Very dispointed for a GBG pub.
6 May 2010 08:02
I was in here last Bank Holiday Monday and found it to be a very pleasent little pub. 3 hand pumpt selling GK Abbott & IPA (not bad @ 2.25 a pint)
The guest ale was H&H Old Trip.
With regard to the last review...got asked to leave as only drinking coke???
Sorry don't beleive you must have been more to it then that???
6 May 2010 07:56
The Vat and Fiddle, Nottingham
If you have a little time before you get your train then this is the only place to be.
Castle Rock beers at reasonable prices. A few guests too.
26 Apr 2010 08:49
The Lord Palmerston (Pickled Newt), Hounslow
A notice in the window yesterday said "Polish Food Shop opening soon"
21 Apr 2010 07:39
In here on Easter Sunday and six months on from the visit of "gillhalfpint" and not a lot more to add. 7 pumps 5 in use 3 for Skinners 1 for Sharps Doombar
and I guest which was Top Totty from Stafford. Meals still 10 for two. Looks OK but not so good if you are on your own as you could pay up to 9.70 for one.
Have Fosters @ 2.35 & John Smiths (keg) @ 2.22 a pint
16 Apr 2010 07:23
With the Seven Stars closed (@4.00) in the afternoon I poped in here.
Not bad and Skinners do realy tasty ales
15 Apr 2010 08:42
Down here on the Thursday before Easter and I was dispointed to note that this place was closed in the Afternoon...............why everwhere else was open??
15 Apr 2010 08:38
I was in here last Saturday lunchtime (20/3) and found a reasonably decent pub. (Bus driver told me the Falcon is still closed so no choice realy)
There were three pumps serving real ale:- Theakstones Best, Youngs Special
and Ringwoods 49er (one of my favorites)
Food is reasonly priced and looked ok although I didn't try any myself.
Two big screens showing the footie (Scum v Wolves)
22 Mar 2010 13:04
Yes I was in here last Friday (5/03) and was impressed.
10 hand pumps:- 1 for Abbott, 1 for Ruddles, 2 for Cider & 6 Guest Ales.
Nice clean and bright..very good for a JDW house
12 Mar 2010 12:47
Best Pub in The WHOLE LB of HOUNSLOW????...quote from Jim Royal "My Arse"
12 Mar 2010 12:43
This pub has been closed now since before Christmas....no For Sale/To let signs
Any one know any more???????
11 Mar 2010 07:39
Agree with South Yorkshireman..this pub only has four hand pumps:- I for Abbott for Ruddles 1 for a Cider and I for a guest ale. When I visited last Sunday it was Exmore Gold but it was selling for a very reasoable 1.45 a pint
thats 4p a pint cheaper than Ruddles. Real Ale fast go round the corner to the
Three John Scotts......they have SIX guests @ 1.90 a pint
10 Mar 2010 08:29

10 Aug 2009 08:20
This pub is now closed and borded up although to date no sign of any To Let or For Sale boards.
No great loss but then thats just my oppinion
29 Jun 2009 08:10
The Honeycombe (Hungry Horse), Hounslow
Drinks served in plastic all day....trouble place or not?????
1 May 2009 08:22
Not too bad realy for a pint or two
Would be a lot better if the gobby Kiwi barman was to keep his big trap shut for once.
5 Feb 2009 07:46
The Lord Palmerston (Pickled Newt), Hounslow
Sorry Old Oak but this pub WAS known as The Pickeld Newt...in fact the full title was The Pickeld Newt at the Parmerston
28 Jan 2009 08:25
A reliable source tells me the extra charges at week-ends no longer apply
15 Dec 2008 12:43
This place is closed and boarded up with for sale notices showing
10 Nov 2008 12:48
Very quiet in here last Monday evening but there again Fosters is a whopping
3.10 a pint....see Mansion..same pint for 2.20
Won't go here again.
15 Oct 2008 08:02
Popped in here last Monday evening...a bit quiet but nice and clean.
Looks like they operate a two teir price list one for Monday-Thursday
and one for Friday to Sunday..ie M-T Fosters is 2.20 a pint but goes up to 2.85
on F-S............not bad value that
15 Oct 2008 07:55
The Moon on the Square, Feltham
One of the best JDW's around.
Very good service (if you can get passed the ignorent wan**rs who stand by the bar as if they owned the place)
Good for Real Ale fans too.
15 Oct 2008 07:50
This Pub has now reopened and changed its name so see the MANSION
15 Oct 2008 07:42
The Horse and Groom, Alresford
Well I was here on Saturday Lunchtime & it was fine by me. This is the type of pub that I go in and I say to myself if I lived round here this would be my local and not just because of the pretty barmaid
29 Sep 2008 08:37
The Running Horse Inn, New Alresford
Got in here last Saturday Lunchtime and no sign of any Gay's just a few Rugger Buggers who were talking about it...Rugger I mean
Nice lady behind the bar made sure she pulled some off before serving me a nice pint of IPA
29 Sep 2008 08:23
The Globe on the Lake, Alresford
This is more of a Restarant than a pub and the dearest pint in the village
29 Sep 2008 08:20
Its a Sunday evening on a Bank Holiday week end and this place is CLOSED.
Down the road in The excellent Red Lion they said it is because the Landlord wants a night off!!
Well you are in the wrong business then mate
28 Aug 2008 07:49
I visited this little gem of a pub last Saturday earlt afternoon and had a realy nice pint of Deuchars for a very reasonable 2.40 in fact it was so nice I stayed and had another...Staff were nice and Friendly
and Sky was on showing the Cricket (but we won't go there)...recomended
25 Jul 2008 07:28
Was closed due to fire in the Celler but was NEVER up to Let..Now reopened after a refurb...has been well done out..nice carpet and also now with a couple of flat screens..same grotty toilets though..(well the Gents is anyway)..so is this a new start for the old Friend in Hand..dont think so as it would appear that Harryoke bloke and his sad hangers on (groupies??) will also be back...O and of course someone has to pay for this...Yes you so a bit pricey (Fosters 2.90 a pint) Weatherspoons so only a few yards away (2.29)
17 Jul 2008 07:19
Wait for it..credit crunch..fuel..food..etc so we go to the pub to relax after a hard weeks graft and what do we get....RIPPED OFF thats what!!!!!!!!!!!
This place has decided that on Fri/Sat evenings to put up their prices by over 20%
A pint of Fosters is up from a resonable 2.60 a pint to a massive 3.20 a whopping 60p.....GIVE IT A MISS
Go to Yatess down the road where at the same time (Fri/Sat after 5.00) you can get a pint of Heininken for 1.99!!!!!!!
25 Jun 2008 07:55
Poped in last Saturday Morning (17/5) for my first visit to this JDW pub. Had to wait about 10 minutes to get served as only two staff on doing everything from taking orders serving drinks and waiting on tables. Don't get me wrong this could be a great place
but this is time for Tim Martin to spend some of the 4M (as per latest JDW News) and get some staff in here. Looks like its always been like this as a review going back to Aug 2006 suggested more staff
20 May 2008 07:45
Appears now to be a Toffs Bar....change of name to....Bar One9Five Epping..gave it a miss and went in THE DUKE OF WELLINGTON next door
14 May 2008 07:43
Slow service to say the least. First JDW pub I have been in that has seperate tills for Hot Drinks and
Alcohol...When I went all the staff were in one corner making tea & coffee. Bit too dark in there too
15 Apr 2008 13:15
A MUST if you are in the area. Was quite busy when I called in last Saturday. The Lady who served me apologised for keeping me waiting!!! Nice pint of Tribute if you are not a Young's fan.
8 Apr 2008 12:50
Nice pub but 3.00 a pint for Courage Best is a bit steep. No guest available when I called last Saturday.
8 Apr 2008 12:44
Found this Gem of A Pub on a Saturday Lunchtime on my way to the Football Club...Adnams Bitter & Broadside both available and fresh..friendly Landlord...so impressed that I poped back in after the match on my way back to the Station.
6 Mar 2008 13:08
At least Roger B found one pump working I wasn't so lucky...they didn't seem to care either
6 Mar 2008 13:01
