In here early last Saturday evening and quite busy but service was good. Piped music was playing and a TV was showing the Real v Barca footy. 6 hand pulls but 2 not in use. Others were Adnams Southwold, Fullers Pride, Cottage Brewery DSB and Cottage Brewery Medusa. I had a pint of the later which alas was too cold and cost £3.55. bjbrummiejohn - 31 Oct 2014 12:43 |
Packed pub on river front. Reasonable beer and food. Perhaps a bit soulless as it is clearly part of a pub chain. simontheeditor - 13 Feb 2011 12:13 |
Fabulous location right on the river. Interesting interior, dark and old looking (bit like me!) 5 pumps on when we went, Hobgoblin, T/Taylor Lanlord, Spitfire, Adnams Bitter and Youngs Bitter. Tried them all and they were all in good condition, all around 2.80 a pint. Food was absolute crap, microwaved Mussels! Bar staff a bit vague (they need a bit more training). Outside seating area with lovely views of the river. Toilets fairly clean. No car parking but there is a car park, with toilets, at the entrance to the village on the lright, free for three hours, opposite The Greyhound (which I intend to visit next time I,m in the area). The area is well served by the railway, only 10mins from the pub. I will certainly go again but not to eat. proost - 6 Sep 2010 18:08 |

Very popular pub due to its prime location in front of the River Colne. On a mild Saturday night most of the customers were outside the front at one of the tables. Five hand pumps; G/K IPA, O/S/H, Spitfire, Adnams East Green and Tim Taylors Landlord. 2.74 a pint for the beer which is not too bad. All beer our group drank last night was in fine form. There is a TV in the pub and also a cash point if you are desperate. Many of the tables were free inside the pub as every one wanted to be outside last night. Love_good_ale - 4 May 2009 02:28 |
