This is used to be a nice pub, but the last Landlady really made a mess of things, they are trying to recover, but it will take a long time. gazzachaz - 6 Oct 2013 12:59 |
In here last Saturday and the place is heaving with footy fans watching the Blackpool v West Ham game. Looks like the only pub in the High St showing it. Dispite this there are lots serving and got done straight away. Quite a number of hand pulls but couldn't make out what was on offer so went for a pint of the Brewers Gold @3.10 delightfull, then West Ham got the winner. Game over shortly after so more room as a lot departed so has another pint of the loverly Brewers Gold. bjbrummiejohn - 22 May 2012 08:18 |
Not a review exactly but a snippet of news. This potentially very good pub has, I hear, got a new licensee who is experienced and respected in the trade (well, that's what I'm told). His mission? To turn the place into a decent and profitable pub. He'll have his work cut out but it was once such a place (30 years ago), maybe it could be again. stropmag - 30 Jul 2010 21:36 |
Visited the pub yesterday as was in the area for a mate's BBQ. Adnam's Broadside and Crouch Vale Brewer's Gold on offer. Opted for the former and was delighted and the quality, well kept and served. That said, everyone else in the pub seemed to be on Magner's 'cider' or fizzy lager, but I suppose we are in Essex.. PieFace - 6 Sep 2009 13:51 |
Good job with the renovation and nice to see some well-kept real ales, including straight from the barrel. Good service, too. Pity some of the clientele are still the same, as witnessed by the recent well-run beer festivals when most punters were still drinking lager and Magners! Pub deserves to succeed, give it a go. drinker999 - 28 Jul 2009 21:04 |
