Since saying I wouldn''t return I have now been back about four times. Visits are mainly for the Sunday roasts. Beer choice is normally pretty good but today two pumps had the "coming soon" labels on them. Sadler''s Sun Chasers was the guest ale lunchtime. Not overcrowded daytime but probably busier in the evening. fugglehops - 10 Sep 2017 21:37 |
Greene King pub serving IPA, a seasonal 'guest' and Sumo from Mad Squirrel. Another pump served real cider. The elder barman was a bit weird, otherwise staff in general was very polite and efficient. The Sunday roasts (served with extra gravy) were okay, but very nice desserts and reasonably priced. Only a 20 minute wait from ordering. The condiments arrived prior to our meals being served (which makes a nice change). The pub itself is nothing special to attract me for a return visit. fugglehops - 29 Jun 2017 22:46 |
In here last Saturday early afternoon and quite busy food orintated. 3 hand pulls for GK IPA, Old Spekeled Hen and Harvey & Hansons Rocking Rudolph. I tried a pint of the RR and it was very nice and cost £3.60 a pint. bjbrummiejohn - 25 Nov 2014 12:55 |
The last visit, on a weekday evening, was not a success. The pub is one of many that likes to promote its 'real ale' character but the majority of the clientele seem to drink lager so the condition of the beer is not a priority. This was borne out on that evening, when both the IPA and guest ale were very poor. Years ago, this building was three pubs next to one another. The Old Punch House was run by a very eccentric landlord, Norman Dare. But that's another story. The_Music_Man - 18 Nov 2011 17:32 |
I really like this pub, it has a good atmosphere, good beers and the menu is value for money aswell. It has a nice smoking area for those who need it and they do regular themed nights such as live music. The only thing i dont like about the pub is the branded feel you get when walking in which is large posters everywhere and rolled cutlery. It is worth popping in for a pint if passing through.
