A decent atmosphere although one feels a few wrong moves have been made - most notably via the introduction of anodyne creme seat coverings. Service was good although one has to lean between hordes of egg chaser fans to collect one's pints and the second one I received was on the turn (not badly enough to take it back). A previous pint of mild was very good though. BoehmBawerk - 11 Nov 2013 11:36 |
In here last Saturday evening for the first time in years. It is now called The Old Black Lion and the Fish and Chip shop has gone. Good crowd in but appears to be a meeting place as a large group leave at the same time. A TV is showing German Football and piped music is playing in the background. 4 hand pulls for Youngs London Gold, Fullers London Pride & Wells Bombardier. I go for a very nice pint of the Nene Valley JLB (Jims little brother) for £3.30. bjbrummiejohn - 16 Sep 2013 07:52 |
They seem to stick to just doing the one ale - Natterjack. Better they do one ale well than do more that they don't have a market for. Handy for a swift pint between trains though locals are freindly and you may end up missing the odd train. anonymous - 21 Aug 2011 15:23 |
They have converted the lower bit that used to house the pool table into a fish & chip shop so now it's half pub half fish & chip shop. In the pub half they still do a reasonable pint of Natterjack. anonymous - 27 Feb 2011 13:25 |
