| The Duke of Cambridge Kingsley Road, Hounslow. A Planning Application (P/2013/4019 00667/1-3/P2) submitted in Nov 2013 has now been approved (18/02/2014). Erection of single storey side, first floor rear and single storey rear extensions. | Left Hounslow a few years ago, popped in recently but was dissapointed. Had great memories of the banter between staff and the regulars, obviously its in a dodgy area and you sometimes get scumbags but it was the laughter I remembered. | The Duke of Cambridge is from what I've seen so far a fairly welcoming pub. Although the regulars talk alot of bollocks, if taken with a pinch of salt they can be surprisingly receptive of new people and perhaps their bark is worse than their bite. Though the Duke is becoming a Polish hangout, unless your apart of the BNP most people should not find this a problem as the crowd tend to be willing to talk to you unagressively and the food served on the right hand side of the pub is surprisingly good (this coming from someone who appreciates English cuisine). On a friday night the Duke hosts a polish disco, and with the change of DJ's the atmosphere and music has definiately changed for the better. The music from what I've seen goes from a mix of R'n'B to House music. On a saturday night the Duke hosts a rock night (though many would suggest its a metal night). Ranging from classic metal (metalica, iron maiden and kansas), punk and ska (less than jake, rancid, the offspring) and rock (queens of the stone age, foo fighters and muse), you could do much worse for a good night out with friends. My only complaint is perhaps Nine Inch Nails is played a bit too much? The bar staff are friendly, out going and willing to teach a little bit of polish to those interested in furthering their cultural educations. For a pub in Hounslow, you could do much worse and I have found the smoking ban has really seperated the wheat from the chaff, especially within this area.
