Only ever pop in for an emergency pint when too early for a train. Not the UK's friendliest pub, but aimed at younger drinkers, they probably love it. Lots of screens but I wouldn't watch football here.

went in here for lunch with the reletives who live in the village before going on to brighton, all I can say is I had bad heart burn and felt very rough for the remainder of the day.i paid £7.95 for a burger that was so thin and tasteless I thought mum had gone to Iceland.we also ordered home made pizzas which were bland to the point that the burger was starting to look like a 10oz steak.very disappointing because I feel in the right hands this could be a cracking pub.

"frequented by ordinary folk who will stare at you for reading a 'big' newspaper. Caters more for the simple-headed lager drinker"

What do you expect "Nietzsche" and "Jung" with your pint?

I rest my case with regard to my previous comment. :)

"very telling of the misinformed unfounded middle-class attitudes and snobbery of the area."

At one point in time a pub was a pub, friendly service and good food. Now people seem to think their local should be "Claridges" or the "The Savoy Grill".

This is a ronseal pub - no nonsense and it doesn't try any harder than it needs to. Always seems to be fairly busy, could be because people fall in off the trains which stop next door. Large pub, a little bit tatty, and frequented by ordinary folk who will stare at you for reading a 'big' newspaper. Caters more for the simple-headed lager drinker but they do at least have Stowford Press.

Had a great Sunday roast here, and they even did OAP portions for our elderly relatives, staff were so kindly and attentive. There was a cider festival on, Old Rosie & Black Rat topping the bill. Full marks to all concerned,
