This place seems to have gone downhill a bit since my last visit 3 or 4 years ago. 8pm on a Saturday night and the place was virtually empty. Had a chewy pint of Plum Porter and got treated to some god awful hip-hop style music that was blaring out. Won't be hurrying back... undeaded - 29 Nov 2015 17:11 |
Disappointing set up here with strange seating arrangement and some cushions scattered around. 4 hand pulls 2 x Eagle IPA 1 for Courage Directors 1 for DNA. I had a pint of the latter which was quite nice and cost £3.40. bjbrummiejohn - 8 May 2013 07:39 |
A Wells/Young pubco refurb - i.e. a characterless hole. They did have Screech Owl on, along with the Wells/Young usual suspects but it wasn't up to much. Olney is somewhere to drive to - you certainly won't want to drink any alcohol here. anonymous - 7 Aug 2011 00:21 |
Yes, this is a decent pub. The beer is very good and, by current standards, reasonably priced. The food is O/k. The dog policy (none inside) is great. The centre bar has been refurbished by somebody who thinks that Olney really needs a pretentious Bistro style, but the rest is still pretty good. Well worth a visit. PS The table staff might be better trained to sweep up stale food off of the floor. BeerEnthusiast - 19 Sep 2010 18:15 |
Recently started going in for food as its very good. Sunday roast was gorgeous excellent value for money, cheaper than ye three fyshes at Turvey nearby and just as good. Good selection of ales, clean & nice staff. Well worth a visit. epicurious - 24 Feb 2010 11:16 |
