Crown Inn, Cerney Wick

Friendly staff and an excellent pint of Wickwar Rite Flanker.Even a jazz band playing!Well worth a visit if walking the nearby disused canal.

1 Sep 2009 13:52

The Master Gunner, Moorgate

Overpriced beer(318p for a pint of youngs bitter!) and food.Better value elsewhere in area.

12 Aug 2009 20:28

The Pheasant, Toddington

Seems to have gone downhill since my last visit.Broken light fittings and a tatty interior;staff sloppy and a lack of customers at Sunday lunchtime.Food overpriced for location.

29 Aug 2008 11:58

The Fox and Goose, Bristol

Beer range a little limited but food superb and staff pleasant. Good view of Bristol and near lakes from patio;ideal for the airport with bedrooms at modest cost.

25 Aug 2008 15:35

The Bridge Inn, Yatton

One of the worst Pubs I have visited for some time.Sloppy service, no atmosphere, nasty food at crazy prices.Hungry Horse chain which permits children to rampage around until closing time. Avoid: try the Drum and Monkey up the road.

23 Aug 2008 19:04

The Drum and Monkey, Clevedon

First class food and drink.Well kept Bass and Hoggoblin, value for money food Monday to Friday.Pleasant atmosphere friendly staff.

23 Aug 2008 18:59

The Moon and Sixpence, Clevedon

A pleasant atmosphere; yes the food service is a little slow but the view from the balcony is great and the food ok.Greene King ales well kept.

23 Aug 2008 18:56

The Pitcher and Piano, Bristol

Rather tired decor and no soap in the ladies toilet despite staff using the facilities!Food and service just about ok, drinks rather pricey.Try the Lloyds next door better value all round.

9 Mar 2008 16:45

The Somerset House, Bristol

First class Butcombe bitter from the barrel. Friendly landlord pleasant atmosphere. Will certainly be back when next in area.

9 Mar 2008 16:31

The Lamb Inn, Eastbourne

Good pint of Harveys, but soft drinks overpriced at 2 plus for a small Diet coke.Pub lacked atmosphere for its age and seems to have lost a certain mystic which was apparent on my last visit. The Prince Albert over the road seems a better choice when in area.

11 Dec 2007 23:20

The Foresters Arms, Fairwarp

Well kept Hall & Woodhouse ales let down by the food, which was overpriced and badly cooked. The portions were small; the fish was swimming in oil with hardly any beer batter, and you could count the chips on your hands! The atmosphere for a Saturday lunchtime was rowdy, more like closing time in a back street boozer made worse by the slow and indifferent service. Will not be back in a hurry.

14 Oct 2007 09:37

The Old Portelet Inn, St Brelade

A pleasant pub with good food offering.Views of Portelet Bay from the garden.

23 Sep 2007 17:15

23 Sep 2007 17:03

The Ladbroke Arms, Notting Hill

A pleasant gastro pub, not cheap but excellent food and drink.Friendly helpful staff who realy made you feel welcome.

28 Aug 2007 19:27

The Avon Gorge Hotel, Clifton

The Bar is to small for the numbers drinking and the poor service, sloppy bar staff has to be seen to be believed!Despite this the place is packed out on a sunny day.Butcombe beers now served at inflated prices and not that well kept. Will try picnic option next time!

28 Aug 2007 18:54

The Barge Inn, Seend Cleeve

First class Wadworths beers; great on a hot day.Did not try food but it looked good.

28 Aug 2007 18:34

Somerset Arms, Semington

Great food and well kept Hall and Woodhouse beers.Friendly atmosphere and handy for the Kennet and Avon canal.Quiet location now village has a bypass.

28 Aug 2007 18:31

The Ship, Eastbourne

A great pub with extensive outside seating in a pleasant garden setting.Wide selection of drinks with three real ales.Food good value with blackboard specials although service can be a little slow when busy.Overall the Ship has a pleasant atmosphere and is perfect for both a quick drink or a more substantial meal.

12 Aug 2007 09:50

The George, Temple

Good choice of beers and lagers. Not a destination pub and it seems to lack atmosphere but ok for a quick one if in area with the carvery at 7 a good lunch time filler.

4 Aug 2007 18:01

The Cross Keys, Knutsford

Well kept real ales, friendly, helpfull landlord and good value food.Seems the best in town!.

4 Aug 2007 17:44

Ock Mill, Abingdon

Good value bar food, wide selection of drinks including well kept real ales.Friendly staff vibrant atmosphere.

20 Jul 2007 16:48

White Horse, Abingdon

Had a poor pint of IPA which the bar staff were reluctant to change.Unfriendly atmosphere; sandwich ok but salad tired. Not a good advertisment for Greene King!

20 Jul 2007 16:44

Nelson's Retreat, Old Street

A friendly pub with well kept real ale and a good value wine list. Thai food served lunch time and evenings or for a good nibble try the prawn crackers at 1 for a large bag.

3 Jul 2007 20:53

The Freemasons Arms, Covent Garden

An ok pub nothing exceptional lacks atmosphere.Food not expensive but basic.Usual range of Shep Neame beers and lagers. There are better establishments in the area.

26 May 2007 15:36

The Tom Cribb, Piccadilly

Great little pub Shep Neame ales and lagers and food at non West End prices.Only downside smokers roll on July 1st!

26 May 2007 15:26

The Pheasant, Toddington

Local real ales and home cooked foods of generous proportions make The Pheasant well worth a visit. The new management have done a first class job improving the food quality and the Sunday roast looks good value for money.

19 May 2007 17:09

The Bunbury Arms, Great Barton

Good value for money food served seven days a week.Excellent Greene King ales friendly service.

19 May 2007 17:00

Well kept Hall& Woodhouse Ales.Friendly atmosphere with a good regular trade.Best in area.

1 May 2007 17:00

The Half Moon Inn, Sherborne

Food ok, friendly staff and good service.

16 Apr 2007 22:04

The Old Doctor Butler's Head, Moorgate

Vast improvement in the food offering; had a well cooked lunch with generous portions and friendly service.Beer first class as usual but smokey atmosphere in the bar spoils the drinking experience, roll on July!

31 Jan 2007 18:38

The George Inn, Newnham

A most delightful pub serving well kept Shepherd Neame ales.Home cooked food and with some interesting daily specials.A friendly atmosphere steeped in history make the George well worth a visit even on a miserable winters day!

8 Jan 2007 20:12

The Hope and Sirloin, Farringdon

This is not a Youngs pub but it does serve the best pint of Youngs Bitter I have sampled for many years. It was kept in superb condition as was the Archers Red Robin. If you like meat the beef sandwiches at the bar are good value but we had a good lunch at the upstairs restaurant which serves home cooking at sensible prices including a mixed grill. The Hope has a friendly atmosphere and in my view is the best in the area.

21 Dec 2006 17:24

The Market Porter, Borough

With the bar packed out we( eight of us) went early to our table in the upstairs restaurant in order to enjoy a few pre-dinner pints in comfort and were told to leave and come back at the time the meal was booked half hour later.I don't think I have ever been asked to leave an empty restaurant before! In the end the Hop Cellar round the corner was able to supply excellent pints of Adnams.Although the food was good I am afraid the quality of the beer with the meal was not.It was tired on the turn and was not Harveys as on the pump clip.Having regarded The Market Porter in the past as a real Pub Pub I am to say the least very disappointed at the way it has changed.

13 Dec 2006 18:44

The White Hart Inn, Margaretting Tye

A friendly Pub,good home cooked food and excellent real ales.Animals a great hit with adults as well as children!

10 Dec 2006 19:49

The Sir Paul Pindar, Bishopsgate

No real ales or atmosphere.Bar girl unable to remember a two drink order. I will only be back if I have a memory lapse!

23 Nov 2006 17:58

The Harp, Covent Garden

A small pleasant pub, friendly service and well kept real ales including Harveys. Will be back when next in area.

19 Nov 2006 17:57

The Sun, Faversham

Had a quick half on my way to the Shep Neame AGM.Friendly service and decent beer maybe they knew I was coming!

14 Nov 2006 18:53

The Avon Gorge Hotel, Clifton

Packed out when the sun shines, drinks and food not cheap, service painfully slow due to sheer numbers but the view is one of the best in the country!

14 Nov 2006 18:45

East India Arms, Fenchurch Street

A small real Pub no food but well kept Shep Neame beers.Best watering hole in area but can get very busy.

14 Nov 2006 18:29

The White Horse Inn, Ruddington

First class selection of real ales, friendly atmosphere, liked the smoking non smoking split.A good value wine list.

19 Aug 2006 10:15

The Bishop's Finger, Barbican

Asahi lager on draught was my main reason for a visit. Sausages good and service ok with friendly staff. No longer an outstanding pub and refurbishments of recent years have resulted in a rather clinical atmosphere but the beer choice is good if you like Shep Neame!

1 Aug 2006 21:48

The Hoop, Stock

First class real ales and food including proper chips. Outside bar and extensive seating, restaurant lacked atmosphere but the service was good. For the real ale lover the Hoop is a must with a good choice of beers kept in tip top condition and in some cases served from the barrel.I do not feel that the refurbishment has altered the character of the place to much and certainly the menu has improved but why no steaks on a Saturday night?

30 Jul 2006 17:28

The Plough, Upper Dicker

A pleasant Pub with a large garden and plenty of outside seating.Shepherd Neame Beers and Lagers;a not overpriced food menu with daily specials, and helpful staff.

16 Jul 2006 17:09

The Uxbridge Arms, Notting Hill

My last comment certainly stirred up a hornets nest but a recent lunch time visit found a friendly welcome from the Landlady and staff although trade was quiet probably due to to the monsoon! The Brakspears has gone which is a pity but the three real ales were well kept and the Greene King IPA was the best I have tasted for some time. The Uxbridge is a Pub Pub no food only booze and a rarity. I hope it survives but this will depend on locals rather the occasional visitor such as myself who has popped in for a quick one every six months for the last fifteen years.

9 Jul 2006 20:10

The Horse and Groom, Rushlake Green

A most enjoyable Sunday lunch first class food which was not to pricey for this type of Pub. The portions were generous and the menu offered a choice which would suit most tastes. Although now tied to Shepherd Neame there is a wide range of beer and lager with three real ales kept in top condition and a good selection of wines at sensible prices. The Landlord and staff made us very welcome and I will be back in the not to distant future, if not for a full meal, but just to sit in the idyllic gardens on a sunny day with a decent pint of proper beer!

9 Jul 2006 19:07

The Giants Rest, Wilmington

Although the quality of the food remains good the portions appear to have diminish in size in particular the vegetables. On this basis the menu is rather expensive as is the wine list.Beer and lager ok and smoking ban made for a pleasant atmosphere. Outside seating very old and could well mark light coloured clothes and should be chopped up for firewood. This has been one of my favourite country pubs in the past but more attractive better value for money alternatives in the area will have my custom in future where hopefully I will not still feel hungry after a meal!

25 Jun 2006 18:53

Apt Bar, City Of London

Typical City bar inflated prices but service ok with pleasant staff. Outside seating best in area.

14 Jun 2006 19:24

The Ivy House, Holborn, London

Good selection of well kept ales and lagers.Friendly staff and pleasant atmosphere.New Thai restaurant offers a choice of oriental and English food at competive prices including bar snacks.Cannot understand previous comments since the place was packed out on my lunch time visit hardly depressing, grotty or crap!

8 Jun 2006 23:32

Bibendum, Eastbourne

Packed out on a bank holiday Sunday evening friendly staff lively atmosphere good selection of beers and lagers.Only complaint, the smoking non smoking segregation appeared to have broken down due to the selfishness of some customers who clearly cannot read!

31 May 2006 19:09

Red Herring, Bank

Ground floor bar lacks atmosphere and tables downstairs better.Beer and service ok with generous food portions.Needs a makeover!

24 May 2006 20:15

Ye Olde Watling, Mansion House

Good choice of well kept real ales including Harveys Sussex bitter.Great atmosphere and service.

10 May 2006 08:07

The Marlborough Tavern, Bath

Very quiet on a luchtime bank holiday visit but seemed a friendly place, with the jack russell joining us for a drink!

2 May 2006 21:06

Emersons Green, Emersons Green

A busy pub with a large Travel Inn attached.Drinks and food not overpriced good friendly service seems the best in area.

26 Apr 2006 22:13

The Cock and Woolpack, City Of London

Disppointing lunch time visit. Poor service only one girl behind the bar for a busy session,a tired foamy Master Brew, food hardly exciting apart from the homemade chips.Wished I had gone over the road to the Phoenix where you don't wait 10 mins to get served!

26 Apr 2006 21:44

All Bar One, Covent Garden

Had well cooked fish cakes and decent wine on a lunch time visit.Service good and staff friendly.Being a lot smaller than the average All Bar One there is a rather cosy atmosphere;impressive range of draught lagers.

29 Mar 2006 18:04

The Royal Oak, Tunbridge Wells

Good home cooking and well kept real ales make the Royal Oak well worth seeking out.Value for money food menu, with OAP specials ,combined with a friendly Landlord resulted in a good lunchtime crowd on my visit. Its certainly makes a change from some of the overpriced establishments nearer the town centre.

10 Mar 2006 15:05

The Rack and Tenter, Moorgate

The refurbishment has created a Pitcher and Piano type of bar and a considerable improvement on the old place.Rather attractive girls serving will certainly bring the punters in including me!

8 Mar 2006 20:34

The Cock and Woolpack, City Of London

Nice little pub serving excellent Shep Neame beers and lager.

8 Mar 2006 06:39

The Hillgate, Notting Hill Gate

Good choice of beers and wine, interesting food with a specials board.Friendly landlord and staff who are mainly Aussie girls. The refurbishment has perhaps created to many tables for its size.Live football shown on a regular basis.

1 Mar 2006 19:16

The Uxbridge Arms, Notting Hill

Good pint of Brakspears but that's about all. No food, atmosphere or customers on a lunch time visit. The iron hand of the Landlady has driven the regulars away to other establishments such as the Hillgate and the place is more like a chapter from Dickens Bleak House!

1 Mar 2006 18:53

The Exmouth Arms, Exmouth Market

Friendly staff and Manager no food served but you can bring your own in!.Good range of beers including a well kept Harveys Sussex Bitter a rare sight in London. This is a real pub and is part of the Pubs 'n' Bars Group which is building up a reputation for running local pubs catering for local markets.Good for a quick drink or a longer session when sport is on the plasma screens.

23 Feb 2006 20:47

The Globe, Moorgate

Keats bar a dingy boozer which does offer a reasonable pint at a sensible price but not much else! The main Globe bar is a least light and airy and attracts a younger clientele with a wider selection of draught beers, but like the Keats bar lacks any atmosphere. Not the greatest of pubs but the best of a poor bunch in area and certainly preferable to either the Scottish Pound or Rack and Tenter.

1 Feb 2006 22:15

St Paul's Tavern, Moorgate

Now owned by Greene King and the real ale choice limited to their brands on a recent visit.Appears to have lost some of its character with the outside now spoilt by ghastly green paint!

31 Jan 2006 22:30

The Lathkil Hotel, Over Haddon

First class Brains S.A.plus other real ales, this is a beer lovers paradise.Superb view complemented by a traditional pub grub menu where the portions are more than generous.Worth seeking out even on a misty winters day!

31 Jan 2006 22:17

The Market Porter, Borough

Not a bad boozer good range of real ales including Harveys of Lewes which is a rare sight out of Sussex.Prefer the Bunch of Grapes (Youngs) over the road which does not get so crowded and offers more seating.

26 Jan 2006 17:59

The Old Doctor Butler's Head, Moorgate

Popped in the other day had a well kept pint of porter. Still retains an old world atmosphere pity about the plasma screen which looks so out of place.Food has never been that good but this is more than compensated by the choice of beers.Ideal for the liquid lunch!

15 Jan 2006 10:01

The Moon on the Square, Feltham

Great breakfast bap friendly service good selection of real ales.Usual Wetherspoons early morning atmosphere where the clientele only depart from four letter words when ordering a drink!

11 Jan 2006 20:35

Sankey's, Tunbridge Wells

Cosy atmosphere friendly staff.Has some rare well kept real ales including those of the local Larkins Brewery.Fresh fish and sea food predominate the menu. I would certainly recommend the mussels as a main course, and for the larger bowl, have any chips as a side order!

28 Dec 2005 19:58

The Buccaneer, Eastbourne

A very usefull pub when going to the threatre and shows .Good choice of real ales which are perhaps the best kept in Eastbourne. All drinks are sensibly priced with a number of special offers.Remarkably good value food with two main courses for under8!,however food is not served all day even at weekends. Can get crowded in the evening but always a pleasant atmosphere.

23 Dec 2005 08:04

The Old Fountain, Old Street

A cosy back street pub near Moorfields Eye Hospital.Good choice of real ales and value for money lunches friendly staff.Worth a visit if in area just for a decent pint!

22 Dec 2005 09:45

O'Neills, Moorgate

Had a quick drink last night bursting at the seams rather a rough clientele not a pub to linger in but service ok.

15 Dec 2005 16:37

Dewdrop Inn, Eastbourne

A great community pub in Eastbournes Little Chelsea. Good selection of real ales and draught Budvar lager on offer together with a selection of wines.Attentive bar staff and friendly atmosphere.Has more of a wine bar feel than a boozer good value food menu.

4 Dec 2005 17:26

The Phoenix, City Of London

Its a real pleasure to have a drink and meal without the normal pollution. The Phoenix offers well kept Greene King ales and a good wine list. The recent Tapas addition to the menu is ideal for those seeking the lighter option.

24 Nov 2005 20:56

The Chequers Inn, Goldhanger

Had a good pint of Flowers friendly staff looks a great pub.

19 Nov 2005 14:12

The Scottish Pound, Moorgate

This is a poorly designed pub which has had numerous refits and as kmos states the ground floor bar now give the appearance of a sofa shop. The downstairs bar is rather claustrophobic and lacks atmosphere but does has a decent T.V screen.Standard drinks offering.Food
o.k if hungry.Only worth visiting if rival establishments in area are full!

14 Nov 2005 20:54

The Earl Of Burlington, Eastbourne

I have not heard of this Wetherspoons being called the Earl of Burlington although some of the regulars may well refer to it by that name.It is a typical Wetherspoon, cheap booze and food but unlike some the service is o.k and there is a small pleasant outside patio area. Not a destination pub but perhaps the best watering hole in town when shopping creates the need for liquid refreshment!

14 Nov 2005 20:26

The Rising Sun Hotel, Cleeve Hill

Perhaps one of the finest views from a pub in the country.Great outside seating and terrace with gas heaters, useful if you are a smoker since the entire establishment is non-smoking.Well kept Greene King ales friendly staff and good service. Food a little expensive by pub standards but this is a hotel. Highly recommended for al fresco eating(and drinking!).

14 Nov 2005 20:02

The Little Angel, Remenham

First class in every way.Great atmosphere lovely conservatory, sensuous lighting.

10 Nov 2005 21:28

The Anchor, Henley-On-Thames

A real Pub Pub serving the best Brakspears in town.Friendly Landlord who soon makes strangers feel like locals! Will certainly be back when next in Henley for a longer session.

10 Nov 2005 20:46

The Railway Tavern, Liverpool Street

This is a great boozer first class service even when full as it is most of the day!. Well kept Greene King ales and a good wine list.

10 Nov 2005 06:30

The Telegraph, Moorgate

Rather basic decor, has an All Bar One feel about it.Well kept Fullers beers, attentive friendly staff.

7 Nov 2005 21:14

The Bar Aquarium, Old Street

More like a wine bar than a pub, nice decor and friendly staff. Good for a serious lunch time drink.Best in area.

7 Nov 2005 19:27

Fleetwood, Broadgate

Had to send back the Discovery with the new barrel only showing a marginal improvement. Trafalgar was O.K . Not the best Fullers pub in the City for real ale but good value wine list.

7 Nov 2005 19:17

The Giants Rest, Wilmington

good home cooked food can get crowded and noisy choice of real ales, blackboard menu ,friendly owner, never had a disappointing meal to date!

4 Nov 2005 20:23

The Master Gunner, Moorgate

not the cheapest beer or food in area but chris knows how to serve a good pint of youngs excellent ales.pleasant bar staff, wide choice of food with evening platters.

4 Nov 2005 20:07

The Rack and Tenter, Moorgate

this used to be one of my watering holes but no more. it is rare to get a good pint of real ale which is overpriced even for the city.come back Jane!

4 Nov 2005 19:41

The Bowler Pub and Kitchen, Clerkenwell

first class food and service. good value 6 main course lunch.brakspears beer on hand pump attractive wine list.has a cosy feel for a gastro pub which welcomes non diners in the bar area.
