Had Sunday lunch there yesterday after a lovely walk in Ashdown Forest. Small but friendly bar & staff which was busy but not noisy. Had a decent pint sitting outside in the November sunshine then we all (4) has Sunday lunch inside. Food was excellent, very tasty and served with a nice selection of fresh vegetables. Deserts were homemade and yummy. Would definitely return. ColinDee - 28 Nov 2011 09:21 |
Called in here today for lunch, having seen the sign on the main road. The interior is tired and not particularly welcoming. The staff were friendly though. The menu appears extensive and varied but it's a shame the quality of the food did not live up to expectations. Stale bun, burger appeared to have been bought from a cheap supermarket and a dry steak. Only had one lager so can't comment on the ales. Will not be visiting again. gazza284 - 6 Jun 2011 15:47 |
It's an attractive pub, in front of a charming village green, and pleasantly off the beaten track. But it's quite plain inside and slightly devoid of character. The bar staff are friendly, but struggled a bit during busy periods. The food is average, although the menu seemed to promise more. Lovely spot for a beer on a summer's day out the front (and probably the back too); good selection of beers. But on the whole slightly disappointing, sorry to say. jpview - 1 Jun 2010 09:21 |
Still one of my favourite pubs, good for an evening out or a quick drink whilst passing through Ashdown Forest. Friendly staff and locals always make it a worthwhile visit, with good pub food. Badger ales are well kept, and the seasonal Hopping Hare (sadly finished for this year) is well worth a try sussexboy - 23 May 2010 20:00 |
Nice pub - friendly service, well kept Badger ales and good, well-priced food. What more could you ask for? Hertz_van_Rentl - 15 Sep 2009 16:49 |
