Don't know how to keep ales here. Fool that I am I keep trying this place in the hope it improves but invariably the real ales are on the turn and some downright sour. Sadly Bridgwater is a town that knows nothing about ales and how to keep and serve them.
10 Feb 2018 08:58
Only managed to call in once on this visit which was a shame. Beer excellent as usual. Great pub for brewed on the premises ales.
23 Jul 2017 10:38
Spent a few evenings here while staying in the area last week. There is a folk music night which is enjoyable.
23 Jul 2017 10:33
Trewellard Arms Hotel, Penzance
A free house in an area dominated by St Austell which was a welcome change. Friendly, range of ales well kept, food looked good but was here for the beer.
23 Jul 2017 10:28
Nice looking pub with two ales on when I visited last night. Had the Will's Neck which was lovely. Dogs welcome.
27 Apr 2016 07:49
Visited several times in the last week. Beer excellent as usual . Wish I lived nearby!
20 Jul 2014 10:12
The Ravensbourne Arms, Lewisham
Pleasant enough pub but could do with some heating. Ales on at £3.60 which is enough for Lewisham, served very cold which is always a shame.
29 Jan 2014 12:52
The Shortlands Tavern, Shortlands
Popped in last night to this lovely pub near the station. Very comfortable and with 3 ales on (Tribute,Wandle & Broadside) at £3.50 and all in perfect condition. Friendly attentive bar staff. Will be back soon I don't doubt.
22 Jan 2014 11:02
Very nice place for a well kept ale and comfy seating in the "snug" by the fire. Friendly behind the bar too and locals were a laugh when my friend tried to exit through the door marked "Toilet" LOL
19 Feb 2013 14:34
Couldn't fault the pint of Southwold I had when I popped in last week. Very nice !
19 Feb 2013 14:14
Popped in for a pint of Southwold Bitter last week and it was in excellent condition , could have stayed for more but was driving! Nice dog sitting in it's chair too.
19 Feb 2013 14:12
Charming pub, pity the ale wasn't very well kept when I visited.
19 Feb 2013 14:07
The Man of Kent Ale House, Rochester
It's not often I give a 10 to a pub but this one deserves it. The two ladies on Saturday 1st Sept were most welcoming. There were 10 ales on all Kentish ones I believe and between us we sampled them all and every one was in perfect condition. I'd love to go back. Definitely worth the 16 train fare from London to the nearby station.
3 Sep 2012 11:35
Visited 18/8/12 . Lucly old Frome having this great pub to drink in with their lovely ales. Well worth a visit.
21 Aug 2012 16:18
The Four Horseshoes, Whitstable
Popped in twice last week to this lovely pub. Landlady was very nice and the ale well kept and tasty (Shep Neame) would certainly visit again if in the area.
21 Aug 2012 16:16
The Four Chestnuts, Chichester
3.65 a pint in a run down pub is not my idea of fun. Only one ale on(Hip Hop) and at that price they can keep it. Would not return to this pube ...
21 Aug 2012 16:13
Visited 16/8/12 and was impressed by the range of ales and the quality. All excellent. Would recommend.
21 Aug 2012 16:10
Ship Centurion Arminius, Whitstable
Popped into this pub a few times last week. Well kept ale and friendly staff and customers. Dogs welcome too which is nice.
21 Aug 2012 16:05
What a good job they have done on this building. Well done! Beer the usual Weatherspoons fare. It was okay.
21 Aug 2012 16:03
The Criterion, Weston Super Mare
Visited on Sat 24th March, was a pleasant way to spend a wet afternoon in Weston.
19 Mar 2012 13:13
The Craft Beer Co, City of London
Popped in yesterday (Sunday) and I'm glad I did. Excellent range of beers and I tried four halves all in tip top condition and served in over-sized glasses which is nice to see. Was a little chilly in there, could have done with some more heating but apart from that the beer was great.
16 Jan 2012 12:41
Visted today 4th of December. Lovely old pub had a pint of Adnams my friend a pint of Seafarers. Proper old pub well worh a visit. Could have stayed longer but time was pressing.
4 Dec 2011 22:19
Visited on Sat the 3rd December with a friend. What a lovely pub with a great selection of ales at resonable prices. Nice atmopshere with a mix of people of all ages a nice fire too that looked like a real one. I live in the south of the Northern Line and I must say I'd go back in a shot, all that a pub should be. The staff were friendly and very efficient, I'm sure I shall return. Well done ! Highly recommended.
4 Dec 2011 22:02
Just re-opened after a refurbishment. Watch your wallet as pints of ale here are an eye watering 3.65/75 a pint!!
4 Aug 2011 10:39
Popped in here last Saturday and although I wasn't drinking beer as I was driving it was a very welcoming , the woman behind the bar was very friendly.
18 Apr 2011 13:26
The Riflemans Arms, Glastonbury
Popped in here yesterday afternoon for a pint of Potholer which was delicious. Looks a nice pub inside, piped music ,outside too sadly but never mind. Friendly barman.
18 Apr 2011 13:20
Beer is very pricey now and what's with the harridan's behind the bar? They have obviously come from the grunt and glower school of customer service. Honestly it doesn't take much to say hello or thank you does it?
14 Mar 2011 12:04
Came in here last night with a friend. I had a pint of Jack Frost and a Pride both of which were very good. It's a lovely looking pub with very friendly patrons, will be back again when in the area.
12 Jan 2011 10:37
Was in here last night with a friend and made to feel very welcome. They had 3 ales on : Pride, Hobgoblin and Sussex Best all well under 3 which is great to find these days. I'd go back again.
29 Oct 2010 11:29
Very expensive now.3.20 for a pint of Jack Frost. So instead of having a couple I stayed for one and left.
6 Jan 2010 16:09
Was staying in Porlock for Christmas and popped in here a few times. Beer very good and a cosy bar area. Lovely!
4 Jan 2010 11:18
Very welcoming pub with 3 ales when I visited and a very welcoming log fire to sit in front of on a cold December's evening.
4 Jan 2010 11:17
Was in on New Years day and it was very warm and welcoming. I had a pint of Otter and a pint of Tribute both of which were very well kept. I also ate the veggie burger ( lovely) and a portion of home made apple pie which was excellent. Worth a visit and has changed for the better since my last visit a few years ago.
4 Jan 2010 11:13
Well I went in the other day and paid 3.20 for a pint of Deuchars! This is more expensive than a pub in a mews in Belgravia where i'd just been. Ridiculous prices . Two large screens showing ,yes, you've guessed it, football. At those prices I won't be back.
14 Dec 2009 10:20
Nice place with Hydes ales. Popped in here Sat afternoon with two friends for a swifty. Friendly barman, nice atmosphere.
28 Sep 2009 10:20
Lovely pub, charming landlady and excellent beer. Only had a half as the beer festival was on at the Civic Hall. I had the Milton Icarus and my friends had the Cheshire Cat and both were in excellent condition. Sure to return one day.
28 Sep 2009 10:18
Popped in here on Friday afternoon and was greeted by a friendly barman and a nice selection of ales. Nice interior, would come back when in the area.
28 Sep 2009 10:15
I was in here on Friday night and was most impressed by the range of beers on offer. The brews made on the premises were excellent. What a great pub, friendly customers and staff and only an hour and forty minutes from London. I'm sure I will be back!
28 Sep 2009 10:13
Went on Saturday evening and had a lovely time, excellent ales in very good condition and the barman was friendly too. In fact after doing a tour of other pubs we came back here for one last one before heading off to the train station. Will certainly return next time I'm in Bath.
21 Sep 2009 11:41
The Hole In The Wall, Waterloo
In here last night they had Breakspear's Bitter, Doombar, TEA, Hobgoblin,Greene King IPA and Young's ordinary.Had a lovely evening!
9 Sep 2009 15:17
This place seems geared up for diners rather than drinkers. Lots of reserved signs on the tables. Beer was so expensive. 3.10 for a pint of Tribute or 3.40 for an HSD ! Wouldn't bother returning.
25 Aug 2009 13:46
Came here last week and had a pint of something forgetable. Beer on stillage so suffers as a consequence, nice interior but wouldn't bother again because of the beer.
25 Aug 2009 13:39
Spend almost every evening of my holiday here as I was staying nearby. What a lovely place with some excellent beers that are brewed on the premises. Nice crowd of people too. Could not fault this pub. Wish I had one like it near me. Dogs welcome. No food. Brilliant!
25 Aug 2009 13:33
Seemed quite food orientated but the beer was good. Harvey's Best at 2.75.
24 Jun 2009 11:04
2 ales on when I visited on Sat 20th . Doom Bar and Harvey's Best.
Only had the one (Best) at 2.95 for a local beer I thought this was quite enough, would have stayed for more but not at those prices . I can get the best in London for less.
24 Jun 2009 11:03
After the nightmare of Lee High Road (what a shite hole) I was glad to find this charming old fashioned pub, pity a pint of Spitfire cost 3.
8 Jun 2009 09:27
Charming old pub with a charming landlady. Adnams Bitter on and nothing else. I really liked it and the people were so friendly I would go back in a shot.Totally unspoilt .Oh and the dog got a couple of Bonio's too!
1 Jun 2009 09:29
Lovely looking pub and water for the dog too! Beer selection was Larkins which is not the most tasty I must say, their bitter is like drinking a pint of water.
1 Jun 2009 09:25
Went here on Saturday and am glad I did. What a great pub, all ales were 2.50, had BB from Westerham, Harvey's Sussex Best and Smiles Mild. Lovely stuff and the folk festival was on which was great. Sunshine, good beer and music friendly people, couldn't ask for much more! One of the best pubs in the area.
1 Jun 2009 09:22
Lovely looking old pub and dogs welcome. Had a pint of Larkins Platinum Blonde (which it wasn't) a quite ordinary ale with little flavour so I was a little pissed off at being charged 3.25 for that swill. Outrageous prices for a beer that's brewed down the road. Would not bother again.
1 Jun 2009 09:16
The Marquis of Granby, Westminster
Popped in yesterday and some of the guest ale's advertised were not available. All they had on were Green King IPA (which should be prosecuted under the trades descriptions act) and Brains SA both of which are cooking beers. Should have known better than to have the Brains at 2.90. Revolting swill. This pub is okay but not worth a repeat visit, the music was too loud and got even louder when one of the staff's favourites came on, which was a Michael Jackson track. I ask you of all the music to play it had to be him! Well I don't want to sit inside a juke box so won't bother going back.
20 May 2009 15:15
The Beaver beer was tasty but inside it was like a noisy cafeteria. Are there no proper pubs around Herne Hill ?
11 May 2009 16:40
Marston's Pedigree and Pride were available yesterday. I won't bother going back.
11 May 2009 16:37
Popped in last Saturday and had a lovely pint of Milly's by the Moor Beer Co. What a nice place and friendly bar lady and locals. Would have stayed longer but we were on bicycles. Hope to go back for more. Good to find a pub that's open all day too. Not sure if it is during the week.
5 May 2009 13:23
Came here on Saturday and had a lovely pint of Summerset by Yeovil Ales.
Friendly bar lady (hope you enjoyed Camden!) and locals. Would have stayed longer but we had to keep cycling.
5 May 2009 13:20
Popped in on Saturday and last orders were called at 2pm! Wouldn't bother again.
5 May 2009 13:17
Visited llast Sunday. Haven't been in for a few years and was glad to see not much has changed. Fine selection of ales, I had Sussex Best and Right Flanker both of which were in good condition. The bar man was very friendly too and pours a good pint, no need to ask for a top up here. Well worth a visit if you're in Hampstead.
21 Apr 2009 14:56
Very nice, visited last Sunday made a mistake of turning left as I walked in but beat a hasty retreat from what looked like a cafeteria to the proper side of the pub. 3 pumps on but only Batemans (can't remember which now) available which was nice.
21 Apr 2009 14:53
Very nice pub with three ales on when visted on the 11th. Friendly bar lady too.
14 Apr 2009 12:15
Popped in yesterday for a pint of Kent's Best which was very nice if a little pricey. Was beginning to despair of finding a pint in Teddington in a decent pub so was very pleased to find this place after walking past a kindergarten called The Anglers.
6 Apr 2009 13:08
Didn't even bother when I went past this place yesterday it was more like a kindergarten than a pub.
6 Apr 2009 13:03
The beer here was excellent (Harvey's Best) when I visited on Wednesday there were another two on which I didn't try. Nice to find somewhere where the beer is well kept.
27 Mar 2009 13:02
Excellent pub and close to my place of work. Last night they had eight ales on and the three I had were good. I had Essex Nights by Crouch Vale,Woodforde's Wherry and a Red Squirrel Conservation ale. All priced at 2.80. Wanted to try some more but was on my bike ! Friendly staff too. I will be back.
13 Mar 2009 13:40
I have been meaning to go here for ages and am glad I did today. Well kept ales (four on today) must say I really enjoyed Ascot Ales' Posh Pooch. A very comfortable relaxed atmosphere and a charming owner too. Seek it out , you'll be glad you did.
22 Feb 2009 22:29
Very nice pub, visited last night. Usual range of Fuller's ales , I had the ESB which was lovely.
18 Feb 2009 12:12
Off The Rails, Weston Super Mare
Little oasis in the Weston desert. The Slug Porter was especially good last night. Wish I'd had longer than a 20 minute wait for my train. Friendly landlord too!
17 Nov 2008 09:55
Very friendly pub with two real ales on and proper cider available too. Nice to find somewhere decent near 'Bilgewater' to drink in a relaxed atmosphere. Worth a visit.
11 Nov 2008 09:33
Was in again yesterday and had a lovely vegetarian lunch and pints of Dark Star Best-delicious!
29 Sep 2008 13:18
Very nice comfortable pub with a superb range of ales-(about 8 I think) although these tended to be on the lighter side with not a stout or mild in evidence which is a pity. Expect to pay 3+ for a pint,so rather than stay for several I stayed for two.
21 Aug 2008 09:35
Popped in yesterday and they had eight ales on. The friendly barman pulled one through and saw it wasn't right and so I chose another. Not many places would do this. Nice enough place for the ale alone but a bit pricey at 3.10.
20 Aug 2008 09:52
Very nice pub indeed. Had 3 ales on when I popped in.
Bit expensive at 2.95 for a pint of Landlord.
10 Jul 2008 11:24
Whatever you do,don't eat here. They have been prosecuted twice for the state of their kitchens.Mouse excrement was discovered under the meat grill and on top of barbecue sauce containers.YUK !
5 Jun 2008 16:12
Avoid at all costs. Why go somewhere to be rudely spoken to? You'd think if you were putting money behind the bar the miserable landlord might be a bit a bit more gracious. Atrocious manners ,obviously a sociopath.Zero out of 10.Don't even bother.
5 Jun 2008 10:01
Popped in yesterday with the dog after a wet walk around the park. Superb pub,6 ales on when I visited,Pride,Adnams Bitter,Breakspear Bitter, Sharp's Doom Bar,Harvey's Best and St Austell's Tribute.Tried 3 and all very well kept indeed. Cricket was on a small tv.Terrible music playing and far too loud.
27 May 2008 09:57
The Prince Albert (Rose's), Woolwich
Visited on Sunday 18th.Nice pub and good atmosphere.3 ales on when I was there one being a tasty mild (can't remember the name of it). They had a two piece band on which was enjoyable. It's not too far from the Woolwich Ferry too.The area is a bit rough but don't let it put you off,at least they have some beer!
21 May 2008 09:57
I've been here twice in the last week and
I urge you to go for the beer, not only is it extremely well kept,it's a very nice pub and
so are the people.Prices are good too.
19 May 2008 09:42
Popped in last Saturday while out walking.Had a couple of pints of 'Kent's Best' (served by a friendly young barman) which were very well kept and sat outside in the large garden. Overall very good indeed.
14 May 2008 12:51
Very pleasant couple of pints (one from Branoc) here served by friendly lady. Good stop off after a bike ride and food served too, although I didn't eat.
7 May 2008 12:55
Royal Artillery Arms, Highbridge
Not much to add to the review below. The best pub for miles. And Miles.(my name)
28 Apr 2008 11:18
Another great evening here.Great range of ales and great jazz music. The dogs enjoyed it too, especially the sausages!
22 Apr 2008 09:44
Trafalgar Freehouse, South Wimbledon
Spent a very nice Sunday afternoon here on April 20th. Good beer, good music from the jazz band, friendly customers.Perfect end to the weekend.Dogs welcome too, we had our two with us.
22 Apr 2008 09:42
The Land of Liberty, Peace and Plenty, Heronsgate
Was at this lovely pub yesterday and had a very nice time.Great range of ales on and served in over-sized lined glasses and all the ones I tried were in tip-top condition.Dogs welcome, which is nice to see and a small television discretely tucked away for those interested in the sport. If you're walking from the station beware-the pavement runs out so you have to run the gauntlet of cars for a little while.
18 Feb 2008 15:49
The Holman Clavel Inn, Culmhead
What a lovely pub! Went here last Saturday and was made to feel vey welcome. Some lovely ales on too as well as a roaring log fire.Even the dog was happy with the biscuits he was given! Would defintetly go back.
28 Jan 2008 09:21
The Lamb and Flag, Blagdon Hill
Went here on Saturday. Lovely place with 3 ales on offer also had a lovely vegetarian meal.Dogs welcome which is nice. Would go back again.
28 Jan 2008 09:19
Another excellent evening in the Wenlock! Great beers as usual.
22 Nov 2007 13:32
Great pub,3 guest ales I must say the Ascot stout(5/%) was lovely. Visited today (sunday) wish I'd had foodit looked good and a vegetarian option too which is good cos I'm one! Worth a visit-a proper pub with a good range of ales on tap and in bottles and some of that chemical fizz(FOSTER'S etc ) that some like to drink for reasons unknown.
28 Oct 2007 17:00
What a great pub! Bit hard to find but well worth the effort.Delicious ales served straight from the barrel and quite a selection too.Would have happily spent the afternoon there but I was on the bicyle.Seek it out-it's a proper pub.
22 Oct 2007 15:12
Lovely pub with a superb range of ales.Get there before six for beer at 2 a pint ! Really enjoyed the Bath Ales Dark Hare.Very friendly landlady too which makes such a difference. Will return when I come back to Bristol.
8 Oct 2007 13:33
Shocking prices ! 3.50 for a pint of Adnams Regatta.Shall never return, pity 'cos I've always liked this pub but not at these prices.
14 Sep 2007 10:35
The Prince of Wales, Kennington
What a dreaful snob azaello is. Why don't we put these 'awful' people into camps and gas them ? Personally I cannot stand the middle classes, far worse than those 'awful' people on council estates.
3 Sep 2007 13:42
What a lovely pub! Some decent beers here in a lovely location. One small criticism-please don't serve your real ales through a sparkler,it's not neccesary and real ale drinkers don't give a damn about head retention as long as the beer's fresh.Dogs welcome.
28 Aug 2007 12:55
More of a restaurant than pub. Had a very nice pint of Tribute here. Was with the dog on the terrace outside and asked if it started raining hard could we sit inside? Yes was the reply-away from the diners, in the corner near the bar.Great.Didn't need to in the end but upon returning the following week was told no dogs allowed. Ooh I just love English 'hospitality' !
28 Aug 2007 12:51
Glorified eating house this. Not a pub at all. Had a look at the menu. Imagine paying nine quid yes NINE for a grilled camembert and some bread? Mugs? Plenty to be found here.
28 Aug 2007 12:41
Asked for some food on a August Bank Holiday AFTER 2.30pm. Imagine the cheek of customers wanting to eat anywhere in England after 2.30. You'd think I'd asked for the head of John the Baptist by the reaction I got.Seems pub owners/landlords in Somerset are not keen on opening on a busy bank holiday. Has no one heard that the law was changed so they could open ? Chance to make some money on a Bank Holiday? No,stuff it we don't want to.
This is a nice looking pub and the beer and the cider were excellent. But you thirsty walkers-you'd better BYO!
28 Aug 2007 12:30
You'd think in a rural pub you'd be allowed to take your dog, but not here. Apparently the landlord's dogs don't like other dogs.So there. Not welcome. Must be traditional Cornish hospitality, which was in little evidence in this lovely county.
28 Aug 2007 12:16
Christ ! No wonder she couldn't understand anoymous I can't either. What the hell is a pub cruel? What is wat? She didn't NO (know) ? Bloody hell, poor England, full of thickies innit!
25 Jul 2007 15:30
The Prince of Wales, Kennington
I nearly fell off my stool when asked for 3.05 for a pint of Whitstable(4.1%).They should display their prices and then people can decide whether they are prepared to be ripped off or not.Although the POW is not without it's charms the price of the beer is a bit off-putting.Another example of greedy landlords,in this case good ol' Shepherd Neame.
25 Jul 2007 13:16
I walked in and thought 'what a dump' ! Filthy tables, overflowing ashtrays (before the ban) ESB tasted watery. Will never set foot in here again.
5 Jul 2007 10:03
Arrived here yesterday walking from Witham with the dog,got a bit lost and a bit wet but was so glad we made it.What a great pub.Excellent beers 8 or 9 on I think,my fave was the Oscar Wilde Mild but all were really good, plus 3 ciders and a perry-which you don't see very often.
The locals were really friendly and we had a great time, makes such a change to go somewhere as friendly as that and made to feel really welcome-something that doesn't happen in London! Thanks to everyone for looking after us so well and to Val a big 'thankyou' for taking us plus dog back to the train station.Hope to be back soon-well worth the walk! 10/10 Miles
29 May 2007 13:15
Was here again last night enjoyed the Mompessons Gold from Oakham and a superb Saffron Gold from Mighty Oak also enjoyed the lovely Pitfield Porter, mmmmmm. It was my birthday and had a lovely evening although didn't do too well in the quiz!
25 May 2007 11:04
Came here on 6th of April and had some excellent ales.Reasonable prices, nice looking and old fashioned too and friendly bar staff and customers, one of whom explained Bar Billiards to us.Would come here again, just one small criticism it was a warm day and inside was quite stifling, the windows and door were firmly shut.
23 Apr 2007 09:57
What a lovely pub ! Sadly got there too late to eat but enjoyed some beer and the tastiest Stout I've ever had.The landlady(?) was extremely nice, makes all the difference when you visit somewhere to be greeted in a friendly way rather than with the usual nod ad never a word spoken.Could have stayed longer but it was closing and we were on our bicycles anyway.
20 Apr 2007 17:08
The Black Lion Hotel, Little Walsingham
Very nice ale here, well kept and served. Sadly there were too many gobby Christians around.
20 Apr 2007 16:40
The Black Lion Hotel, Little Walsingham
Very nice ale here, well kept and served. Sadly there were too many gobby Christians around.
20 Apr 2007 16:40
Visited on the 6th of April. Bit difficult to find, wandered through some pretty depressing areas to get to it. Wow what a great pub,too much choice! Wish I'd had longer.
20 Apr 2007 16:37
Would you Adam and Eve it? 2.90 for an ale and NOTHING local. Pretty enough place but has turned into a tourist trap.Would not set foot in here again, much better and cheaper places in Norwich. What a rip-off.
20 Apr 2007 16:34
Visited on the 11th of April and find it by chance cycling back to the train station. What a find! What lovely beer and the stout was particularly memorable. The staff were so nice and helpful.Wish I could have stayed longer but a train back to London was waiting but next time I'm in Norwich I will be back.
20 Apr 2007 16:31
The Crooked Billet, Wimbledon Common
Nice looking pub,but the beer is rubbish! What's happened to Young's? Had the Winter Warmer and it was as thin as an anorexic with no taste.
2 Jan 2007 17:07
Visited Saturday 18th Nov.What a great place.Had some delicious Milton ales, all very well kept,I particularly liked Colossus and Nero was a lovely lovely stout.Very relaxed atmosphere,no juke box, television, fruit machines and no smoking throughout which is very good news.Didn't try the food which looked good but had a belly full of beer anyway.I'll be back!
20 Nov 2006 13:35
Visited on Saturday with a friend. What a great pub! Ticks all the right boxes, ale was superb I really enjoyed the Black As Yer 'At from Glastonbury Ales.Landlord and lady were most welcoming.I don't live in the area but hope to return soon one evening to enjoy some of the good food on offer and more ales of course!
6 Nov 2006 09:28
Was here last night with some friends. It's having a mini beer festival this week and has some good stuff on and all at 2.50 a pint.I had Landlord,Explorer,Hobgoblin,Harvey's Best-there were others and will be more on too.Well worth a visit, friendly barman too.
31 Oct 2006 09:42
The Great Western Hotel, Exeter
Went here on Saturday(7th Oct)with Terry and Bertie and we had a very nice evening sampling lots of different ales>My favourite was the O'Hanlons Yellowhammer. The friendly(new) barmaid poured an excellent pint,no need to ask for a top up here!Food was good too and plenty of it-we opted for the omlette and chips.Great place to spend some time while waiting for a train or not!
9 Oct 2006 13:00
Visited last night for a few pints of the Bishop's Finger. It's an okay place but I'm really surprised that it won a CAMRA award, staff could do with a good manners course.
18 Aug 2006 13:44
I spent a lovely wet Sunday afternoon here yesterday with a friend and had a really good time. Some great beers in their festival and I wished I hadn't brought the bicycle or would have tried the lot! Will be back to hear some more music from the great lady playing the piano.Didn't want to leave, but will be back! 10/10

The Prince of Wales, Kennington
Lovely pub in a charming square in Kennington.Let down by inflated prices.I ask you-2.90 for an Early Bird? 2.85 for a Spitfire anyone?

Charming little pub off Jermyn St with a no smoking section at the front! Well done.Range of beers on offer when I visited last Saturday:Adnams,Old Speckled Hen,Youngs and London Pride. The Pride was off so opted for a Hen then asked for a Youngs but was told that was off too.Why the bloody hell they don't turn the effing pump clips round when they run out is beyond me! People were coming in only to be told beers were not available. One wonders what sort of managers run these pubs that run out of beer,it's a disgrace.

I don't know how anybody could say the beer prices are reasonable in this pub! Norman Balon must be laughing all the way to the bank.

The Rose and Crown, Cannington
It's a lovely pub with good ale.Locals very friendly although I did notice a Wicker Man at the back!Large collection of clocks, none of which work.Would go back should I find myself in that neck of the woods one day.

The Westminster Arms, Westminster
I visited this pub on the 13th of January 2005.The beer was okay although not quite a full pint and the barman did not utter ONE word, not a hello not even a thankyou.Shall not return, there is no excuse for rude or indifferent service.Rubbish!

The Kirkstile Inn, Loweswater
Spent an evening and afternoon here last week. Lovely pub with a real fire and the best ales I have tasted for a long time. Legendary.
