Combermere Arms, Wolverhampton

I can only echo the previous comments on what a smashing place this is. I popped in yesterday with my wife and 7 month old. The bar staff were friendly and welcoming to us when we asked if it was ok to brink our baby in.

The Nag's Head, Shrewsbury

Can't fault this pub for the very friendly landlord and the regulars. Nice 'proper pub' feel to it (by today's trendy bar standards) and the Ludlow Gold was beautiful.

The Bell Inn, Trysull

Stu, there was Holdens Mild on when I went in on Saturday. Good pub with good beer.

The Railwaymans Arms, Bridgnorth

If there's one thing that spoils this pub (and it's hardly the landlord's fault) it is the clique of steam railway bores who frequent the seats by the bar and who always talk a few octaves louder than everyone else. You are better off sitting further away to avoid the contunuous drone.

The Robin Hood, Willenhall

Cosy, friendly pub serving up to 10 real ales including a cider. Warm fires, darts and light bar food (baguettes, pies & jackets). Very good.

Montgomery's Tower, Shrewsbury

One of the better Wetherspoons. Nice modern interior which is brighter than their normal decor. Deservedly in the GBG.

Alexandra Inn, Oakengates

New landlord in place. Beer quality excellent on my recent visit. Mallinson's Stadium Bitter and another one at 6.4% both well kept.

15 Oct 2010 17:04

The White Lion, Bridgnorth

This is a very nice, traditional pub with cosy seating near the main entrance, dartboard, and a nice side alley with seating and a garden with chickens in a pen! I had a pint of the Blue Monkey Original (3.6%) which was in superb condition. Friendly regulars and staff. Highly reccomended.

10 Oct 2010 19:49

The Vine (Bull & Bladder), Brierley Hill

This is the sort of pub you wished you lived next to!

2 Oct 2010 20:47

The Pie Factory, Tipton

Nice, interesting interior but crap, miserable bar staff serving overpriced food.

5 Sep 2010 22:37

Wellington Arms, Wellington

Now closed.

7 Aug 2010 09:58

White Horse, Ironbridge

No real ale sold on last visit.

7 Aug 2010 09:58

The Fountain, Lower Gornal

Excellent selection of beers in a nice cosy pub. Well worth a visit.

7 Aug 2010 09:57

The Black Bear, Lower Gornal

Popped into this pub on the way back home. Very nice, friendly place with an excellent selection of ales. I had the Kelham Island American Stars & Stripes which was excellent. Will add this to my list of 'must visit' pubs when I'm next in the Black Country.

1 Aug 2010 06:51

Red Lion Hotel, Wellington

Had a nice sit out in the beer garden on Friday evening. London Pride and Hop Twister on tap, both very good.

23 May 2010 16:45

White Horse, Ironbridge

This pub has changed hands since the last review, with the people who ran the All Labour in Vain taking over.
One real ale on on my last visit (Spitfire)..

22 Jan 2010 16:12

Blue Pig, Telford

Below comments seconded. The Banks' Original was superb when I went in recently.

31 Dec 2009 12:14

The Ackhorne, York

This pub is well worth seeking out, although really it is only a short walk off a main town centre road. It was very quiet when we popped in - 3pm on a Thursday afternoon but there was an interesting range of beers on and the one I tried was superb.
The honey roasted peanuts were very nice too.

24 Nov 2009 17:39

Red Lion, Telford

Small, cosy, friendly community pub in a quiet residential area. Darts figures strongly here with two dartboards and numerous teams. Tetley Bitter on cask was well kept but it isn't the best beer out there.

11 Sep 2009 17:17

The Britannia, Upper Gornal

A fantastic Bathams ale house. Lovely, cosy interior and friendly regulars. 3 different rooms. Bathams mild and bitter on and both in superb condition. V. nice pork pies as well.

6 Sep 2009 19:17

The Falcon Inn, Willenhall

I'll keep it short: absolutely superb.

29 Aug 2009 18:40

Isaac Merritt, Paignton

Standard Wetherspoons pub but as per the other comments, very good as the staff are friendly and the beer quality good. I enjoyed the Bays real ales which were being promoted under the CAMRA LocAle scheme.

16 Aug 2009 10:30

The Wrekin Inn, Telford

There's always an interesting selection of well kept real ales plus scrumpy. Live music on Sunday afternoons, plus 'open mike' sessions on Tuesdays. Darts is played here and a quiz night is to be introduced. This pub seems to be establishing itself quite well. Highly recommended.

18 Jul 2009 19:08

The Fox and Hounds, Shawbury

Now re-opened and has 6 real ales on tonight according to my Mrs who is there for a meal.

3 Jul 2009 22:44

The Wrekin Inn, Telford

Newcomer to the real ale scene but friendly and pleasant with an interesting selection of ales and certainly deserves support. I'll definately be visiting more frequently than usual.

22 Jun 2009 21:37

The Two Henrys, Battlefield

Generic family/food pub run by the Hardys & Hansons group. The pub is clean, the food is fine and the staff are helpful. I admire their promotion of real ales but sadly they are served chilled like lager and this is a no-no.

25 May 2009 19:42

Fountain, Walsall

As per the previous post, a traditional back street local and very appealing. It is slightly outside of the inner town run but is well worth seeking out. There were 4 real ales on and my Deuchars was spot on, as was the Sunday roast dinner. There's a dart board in the bar and a signed WBA shirt! I will pay another visit next time I am in Walsall.

12 Apr 2009 18:17

The Robin Hood Inn, Ironbridge

Still a great pub with friendly regulars, nice atmosphere and good beers. Two Holdens beers on when I last visited plus Sarah Hughes Dark Ruby Mild, Caledonian Evolution and two Salopian Beers. Nice to sit out in the high lever garden when the weather is fine.

11 Apr 2009 20:07

The Loggerheads, Shrewsbury

Nice, traditional pub c/w dartboard and a stash of darts available should you wish to recreate Jocky Wilson vs John Lowe whilst sampling the beers.

5 Mar 2009 17:15

Friars Inn, Bridgnorth

I have to say I didn't enjoy my visit here. The place looked a little unkempt and there was only one ale on; Ludlow Gold which was barely adequate. I'm surprised this place is in the GBG.

5 Mar 2009 17:13

Kings Head, Bridgnorth

I really enjoyed this pub. It has a nice atmosphere, interesting interior and great beer. The Bridgnorth Best Bitter (4.4%) was excellent. Will add this to my list of 'must visit' pubs for when I'm next in town.

1 Mar 2009 20:04

Salopian Bar, Shrewsbury

A lovely, friendly place to drink. Good selection of well kept ales on tap and an interesting range of bottled beers. Modern decor is a nice change from the usual old fashioned style that many real ale pubs already have. I will make this a regular haunt when I'm in Shrewsbury.

1 Feb 2009 18:11

The Robin Hood Inn, Ironbridge

Sad to hear the news about Fin :(

25 Jan 2009 21:33

Red Lion Hotel, Wellington

A very nice local, friendly and relaxed and nicely laid out. Two ales on: WOOD'S Quaff Ale and SALOPIAN Hop Twister - both very nice.

1 Sep 2008 22:09

The Head of Steam, Newcastle

I actually quite liked this pub when I popped in on passing the other day but then again I like the kind of music associated with the pub and the relaxed atmosphere on the place. Well, it was relaxed at 4pm on a Sat afternoon anyway. I don't know how well real ale goes down with the pretentious student crowd but *idea* if one of the breweries was to put a picture of Che Guevara on a pump clip they'd probably make a killing :)

11 Aug 2008 21:56

The Swan, Ironbridge

Decent pub. Food orientated but there is room at the bar and in the outside seating area if you want a drink. 4 real ales on, one of them from the new Ironbridge brewery just down the road.

7 Aug 2008 21:39

White Horse, Ironbridge

Thank you for your reply and fair do's: 10/10 for caring. I guess I should have brought the beer back but that's a different issue in itself. Some people just don't like the 'hassle' of complaining - especially when you are new to a pub and there are regulars at the bar, and it's quiet - I'm sure many people will identify with this. I've taken a beer back in my own local and have been given a very strange look by the staff!

Stvane: Banks' Mild is much nicer than Black Sheep, which I find a bit dull. Each to their own and yes, I will pop in again next time I'm in Ironbridge.

7 Aug 2008 18:52

White Horse, Ironbridge

I can not beleive that this pub won a 'best in Telford' award! I popped in last night and it was nothing special. My Banks' was tangy.

6 Aug 2008 09:31

The Bridge Inn, Brewood

We popped in today on our way home from Brum and I agree it is a nice pub. There was a good selection of beers on. I had the Jennings 'Cocker Hoop' and it was excellent. Will be going again.

20 Jul 2008 20:03

Coalbrookdale Inn, Coalbrookdale

We got stared at a little when we went in the other day but maybe it's because the bar area is right next to the entrance. The person serving barely acknowledged us. Went to another pub in Ironbridge later and what a contrast - a friendly welcome and nice atmosphere. I couldn't fault my beer 'though so I haven't given the pub a low rating.

28 Jun 2008 09:16

Lord Combermere Hotel, Audlem

I went in for the first time on 26/5/08 (Audlem Music & Arts Fest) and found it to be a nice pub with friendly staff. The beer was well kept and pub is in the middle of a pretty little village. Recomended.

28 May 2008 21:43

The Royal Oak, Ellerdine Heath

Small, friendly country local with a large green outside area for the summer montls. 3 permanant session beers plus one changing premium ale. Simple food served at a good price. Always people stood at the bar chatting!

27 Apr 2008 12:44

Wheatsheaf Inn, Shifnal

Low ceilinged tradidional pub with two fires and a dart board. Banks' mild and bitter served with 3 decent guests upon my visit. Beer quality good.

27 Apr 2008 12:39

The Prince of Wales, Birmingham

What I like about this place apart from the beer is that it is a traditional pub with a traditional pub feel about it which is very welcome in such a changing modern city. I often pop in when I'm in Brum. Long may it continue.

16 Dec 2007 20:56

The Wellington, Birmingham

Can't fault a place like this. A real ale dreamland!

27 Feb 2007 19:19

Steampacket, Swanwick

Nice friendly local if not a bit smokey. Four ales on but unusual in that there always seems to be three at around 3.8% + one strong ale. One or two at mid strength would be nice. Landlady is friendly.

20 Nov 2006 20:58

The Malthouse, Ironbridge

I love this pub. It has a nice layout and a friendly atmosphere - even better when there's a band playing. Its just a shame that the indifferent ale keeping lets it down. The Directors bitter I had last August was flat and bland.

20 Nov 2006 20:29

The Robin Hood Inn, Ironbridge

I have visited this pub a number of times in the past 4 years and have never had a bad beer. The new landlord is friendly and keeps a good pint.
