No real ale sold on last visit. Mark_J - 7 Aug 2010 09:58 |
Uninspiring Cask Ale selection since the new owners took over - a selection of One! It has been Bombardier, Spitfire and Directors all OK but nothing special - No entertainment and very loud juke box playing in bar area stevane - 22 Jan 2010 18:47 |
This pub has changed hands since the last review, with the people who ran the All Labour in Vain taking over. One real ale on on my last visit (Spitfire).. Mark_J - 22 Jan 2010 16:12 |
I think its about time that someone else reviewed this pub apart from stevane, who obviously loves the place. This is an ex Greenhalls pub according to the sign outside, its a very steep walk up from the gorge area and it doesnt help when theres a torrential downpour on the way! Its pretty much a one roomed pub although there is a dining style area partitioned off to the left of the door as you enter. Theres also a pool table at the other end of the room. It has a decent looking fireplace and a number of high backed settles around the place, plus a couple of bar stools. It also has a quiz machine. 3 handpumps on the bar selling Draught Bass, Theakston Old Peculiar and Tetley Dark Mild, so nothing from a micrbrewery, just the nationals. The Mild is probably unusual round here though. Had a pint of the Bass and a Mild whilst waiting for the weather to calm down a bit. The Bass was OK, the Mild was excellent. There were a few regulars in, with a load of boisterous banter going on between them and the landlady which was amusing. Its an OK pub. Id probably call in again if in the area but it is one hell of a climb to get here. ROBCamra - 21 May 2009 11:06 |
The Theakston's Old Peculier was exceptional last night. Donna real does know how to keep quality beer. Well done! Luv it! stevane - 3 May 2009 20:30 |
