The Intrepid Fox, St Giles

Walked past where this use to be Sunday.Such a shame.
Was a great pub with a friendly ,very lively atmosphere.
Truly missed

13 Aug 2019 10:54

The Two Brewers, Covent Garden

A decent pub with very well kept ales.I was on the yard Bird and it was superb.
But a fiver a pint ,it should be.Too expensive for me.A shame,as its a good pub.

13 Aug 2019 10:51

The Ivy Bar, Belfast

Sadly ,long gone.
Now flats

15 Jul 2019 12:22

The Calthorpe Arms, Holborn

Popped in here St Georges Day as i was out and about.
Very well kept pint(can't remember what i had now).
Decent staff in a very traditional old school cockney boozer.
Great pub to spend a few hours, will be frequenting this place a lot more often.
I don't eat in pubs as a rule, but what i saw of the grub it looked good.

15 May 2019 11:04

The Toll Gate, Hornsey

I use to like this pub.
Sadly they have a barman in there that if he takes a dislike to you or you make a complaint about a bad pint(which is rare in there to be fair) gets you barred for being racist.Horrible little man he is.
Shame, because most of the staff are ok

6 Apr 2019 18:37

The Sekforde Arms, Clerkenwell

Went in for the first time Saturday since it reopened .It's pleasant enough, but i prefer the old place.Toilets are now downstairs and has more of an upwardly mobile clientele .I can't imagine the Indian Beatles playing here these days

19 Jun 2018 11:27

The New Moon, Tottenham

Was in here Sunday. No real ale,but the keg Courage best was nice and £2.40 a decent price as well.
Not a bad boozer.I would definitly use again.

3 Apr 2018 17:14

The Nelson, Wood Green

Up for sale, but only the pub,not the accommodation upstairs .
Can't see much enthusiasm for a "walk in" outside of the square mile.
Still, we may get someone that actually consistently stock at least one real and at a proper price and barmaids that don't both go outside for a cigarette while several people are waiting to be served. I live in hope, until then i will drink elsewhere. And with the newly refurbed Nags Head selling several superbly kept ales at £2.85, i dont have to go far.

22 Mar 2018 11:48

The Antigallican, Charlton

A very basic pub,but i liked it. If around here i would use it again.

16 Mar 2018 16:05

The Anchor, Southwark

An expensive pub(To me) .But i love it.Something about having a beer near the thames

16 Mar 2018 16:04

The Albert Arms, Elephant and Castle

As the poster below says,Bland probably describes this pub well.Decent pint though

16 Mar 2018 16:01

The Gipsy Moth, Greenwich

Ok pub,not great,but not awful

16 Mar 2018 15:59

Goose, Wood Green

They had a trial night Friday, 7pm - 9pm .It opened on Saturday.
i was in there Friday.Looks a cleaner nicer version of what it was.The Courage best was superb, and at £2.85 a decent price(The Nelson take note).
The food looked good as well.Going to give their Fish & Chips a go.

12 Mar 2018 12:52

Goose, Wood Green

Confirmed, fella was putting the signs up yesterday. It will be known as the Nag's Head

5 Mar 2018 11:18

Goose, Wood Green

Closed for refurb. And judging by the posters in the window, will revert back to the original name of the Nags Head.
Which is good news :)

1 Mar 2018 11:15

The Nelson, Wood Green

It''s almost as if they want all the old locals to go(many have)
The Ale was over priced (as stated below),but they reduced it to £2.50!! Brilliant!!...Trouble is ,they ran out and haven''t replaced it. Also, they will have one bar staff on and they will watch you walk up to the bar, then decide to go for a cigarette. Also,a bit rude to ask for the money as you order the drink then start rearranging a few bags on the floor, then wandering to the other end of the bar to share a joke with their mates(probably at my expense) before going to the till and only after all this pouring the drink.Disgraceful.
If i was a betting man,i would put a quid on that this pub is deliberately being ran into the ground so the owners can do other things with it.
I refuse to believe the bar staff can be this awful.
What was once a great pub is now deserted and depressing.

14 Sep 2017 12:36

The Welcome Inn, Wood Green

First time in here for years. It''s become a great pub.
A guvnor that knows his customers well.
No real ale,but the keg version of IPA was good.
Definitely a pub i will use in the future.

24 Aug 2017 17:00

The Great Chalvedon Hall, Basildon

Was in here saturday before and after the Haringey Borough V Bowers & Pitsea game.

21 Aug 2017 15:03

The White Swan, Hoddesdon

Haven't been in here for best part of 20 years, but watched the football in here yesterday.
Cracking pub.Quality pint of IPA and decent service.
And proper Pork Scratchings

14 Aug 2017 10:34

The Occasional Half, Palmers Green

Decent enough pub that has manged to keep prices reasonable,£2.70 for a London Pride or Doombar.(the Nelson in Wood green ,take note). They also have a Monday club where certain pints are even cheaper (£2).It can be done.

7 Aug 2017 12:33

The Nelson, Wood Green

Still a pub.Decent Ale,well kept.But over priced.£4 for a Doombar??

7 Aug 2017 12:30

The Nelson, Wood Green

Last day for this place. Been sold, possibly a trendy bar/Diner type place. It was the best pub in N22,such a shame. Another one bites the dust. I hear the palmerston in Tottenham is going as well.
Why is it always the decent pubs with decent locals

29 May 2017 16:11

The Antigallican, Charlton

Went in here yesterday. Before going to the Valley to watch Tottenham ladies V Blackburn
Great, basic old school pub. Decent pint, friendly locals and Bar staff. What's not to like. Enjoyed it so much, we went back after the game. Would definatly pop in again if in the area

29 May 2017 12:10

The Phoenix, Edmonton

Started in here Sunday for the last game at the Lane.Decent football pub.Bar staff were quick and pleasant. No real ale,but the John Smiths was well kept.
Lets hope its still here when we go back in a year.
COYS

17 May 2017 16:03

The Nelson, Wood Green

Great pub.Well kept Ale,and not silly prices. The best boozer in N22 by far

8 Apr 2017 15:47

BRB at The Gate, Alexandra Park

Great ale, well kept and always at least 3 to choose from9and not just the bog standards)Bit on the expensive side, but an ok but.nice in the summer

8 Apr 2017 15:46

Spouter's Corner, Wood Green

The ale is here is very well kept, but the service is abysmal.
Was in here last Sunday, and waited 15 minutes.in the end, gave up and left.

8 Apr 2017 15:44

The Jolly Sisters, Islington

Cracking old pub, with cracking old school locals.
No real ale, but the Youngers did the job.
Decent people behind the ramp.
All in all a great little pub.Something we use to have an abundance of in London, now a rarity.
Does make you appreciate places like the Jolly Sisters when you do pop in though.
Will definitely be back.

30 Mar 2017 10:49

The Twa Haufs, Johnstone

Now called the keystone.
Great pub, with friendly locals.Well they were to us English boys who were up from Watford and London visiting a mate.
Would definitely visit again ,when in the area.

23 Mar 2017 14:32

The Flag, Watford

Was in here Saturday for a gig.Quality ales and quick service. The Timothy Taylor Dark mild was a beautiful pint, sadly they ran out after my 2nd.
The bands were good, really good and the two DJs were superb, i would travel to see these two.Shame the taller one had a shirt on that looked like his Mum had bought it...

6 Mar 2017 12:19

The Salmon and Ball, Bethnal Green

Was in here yesterday.
Nice normal old school pub.Decent pint and decent proper locals.Service with a smile as well.
Great pub.

11 Feb 2017 12:33

The Lord Palmerston, Tottenham

Cracking pub.
Friendly efficient bar staff and a decent clientele that are friendly as the bar staff.
No real ale, but the keg version of Green King IPA was nice enough.
Best pub in the area but a country mile

22 Oct 2016 14:16

The Ivy Bar, Belfast

A small bar next to the bigger Hideout...Sadly now gone and flats

5 Sep 2016 12:41

The Nelson, Wood Green

Using this pub more and more these days.
Decent pint of IPA and good service.
Conveniently placed for a bit of respite from the madness of Wood Green.
Locals are ok as well. Though why the Ginger/Grey Welsh bloke never takes his coat off is a mystery..

13 Jun 2016 15:36

The Red Cow, Cheshunt

Decent pub.
Was in here Saturday for the England game.It was all ticket(which were free).Very busy, but the bar staff were quick and efficient .And service with a smile.
Doom bar was top drawer. All in all a great night in a great pub. Hadn't been in here for 20 odd years, but will certainly return

13 Jun 2016 15:32

The New Welcome Sailor, Burnham on Crouch

Cracking Pub.
I was in here Wednesday evening with a friend who has recently moved to the area.
The barman was friendly and the ale superb(Wibblers IPA,a new one on me).The locals were all chatting to each other ,which is always a good sign.We took our drinks and sat at one of the tables.3 fellas came and sat at the table next to us shortly after and said "hello", another good sign.We only stayed for the one as my friend wanted to try more of the local pubs as she hadn't really been out properly since moving in,sahme as I could have stayed in here all night.

11 Mar 2016 17:27

The Seven Stars, Chancery Lane

Visited this pub a week or so back.Nice setting and you pass a few land marks on you way from Holborn station.Pub is small and a bit grotty to say the least),but the beer was excellent. I had both the Adnams southwold and the Harveys IPA.
Barman was chirpy enough, but the pub isn't overly friendly. Got the distinct impression I wasn't particurly welcome to be honest.Glad I went, but wont return. it gets a 6 for the quality of the ale alone

8 Feb 2016 10:32

The Jolly Anglers, Wood Green

This use to be my local. A decent pub back then,Howard Marks DJing, suyperb stuff.
Heard yesterday that is closing down this week and being turned into flats.
Such a shame whats happening to pubs in our area

4 Jan 2016 15:30

Canal 125, Caledonian Road

£5 for a pint of ale that any half decent cellarman would be ashamed of?
You're having a laugh
I am giving it a 4. I would have given it 0 but the barmaid had a lovely cleavage

26 Oct 2015 12:30

The Rifle Volunteer, Ware

Please note the below comment was actually for the Angel Pub, not this one.
Here is my verdict of the rifle volunteer.
Decent pint of IPA and a friendly bunch in the pub. Good service and quick
We sat outside with our drinks as it was a cracking day.
Like all the pubs we visited it was of a standard and style that made pubs in this country great. I hope the people of Ware realise how lucky they are.

5 Oct 2015 11:32

Spread Eagle, Ware

I haven't been in Ware for about 26 years.
Was going to meet in the Station pub, only to find it is now a house.
So, what was going to be our second port of call was our first.
Cracking little old school friendly boozer. The AK was top drawer and the service good. They even laid on bar snacks, sandwiches etc for the Sunday crowd(haven't seen that in a good while)We were in Ware for the Spurs legends match at Ware FC we were so impressed with the pub that we stopped off again on our way back to the station after. A pub like all pubs should be
Has to be said, the standard of pubs in Ware is very very high

5 Oct 2015 11:24

The Rifle Volunteer, Ware

Was in here yesterday after the charity match at Ware FC.
Place was packed,Spurs in one bar the other lot in the other.Good atmosphere with a lot of families in the garden. The IPA was top drawer and the service very quick considering how busy it was.
Highly recommended

5 Oct 2015 11:17

The Sir John Oldcastle, Farringdon

This aint bad,not bad at all.Ales are always perfectly kept and the staff quick and good at their job.The walls are full of interesting historical bits and pieces about Clerkenwell and the surrounding area.
Nice boozer

29 Jun 2015 17:49

The Shakespeare's Head, Islington

Great pub.Was in here yesterday for the first time. From the outside ,it looks the type of pub that you would walk past and go somewhere else.Couldn't be more different on the inside.Cracking friendly pub that seems to have a decent amount of locals.Typical old school Clerkenwell.Courage best was top drawer as well

29 Jun 2015 10:25

The Sekforde Arms, Clerkenwell

Was in here yesterday. It will be a gastro type pub as opposed to a all out restaurant. For how long though?

29 Jun 2015 10:22

The Sekforde Arms, Clerkenwell

Gutted and disgusted that this proper old school cockney clerkenwell pub is closing. Because we really need another restaurant ,don't we,eh?
We are killing all that's good about this great city of ours

23 Jun 2015 11:34

Springfield Park Tavern, Bounds Green

9 Feb 2015 20:46

Springfield Park Tavern, Bounds Green

Finally tried the food in here on Monday ,after admiring it for months.
I went for the Fish and Chips( a favourite of mine)
Superb, just like it use to be in most if not all Chip Shops(though not these days).Thoroughly enjoyed it.
Going to work my way through the menu now.........The full Breakfast ,you are on my list! Then the steak and ale pie ,i reckon

The Iron Duke, Victoria station

I actually found the ale very drinkabkle in here.As the poster below said, its a station pub,so used only for convenience.but i really didnt think it was that bad

2 Jun 2014 15:27

The Good Mixer, Camden

Overated ,living on past glories

29 May 2014 15:43

The Elephants Head, Camden

Decent pint of ale, but the prices are ridiculous.
Been drinking in here for years and has always been pricey.but its beyond a joke now.

29 May 2014 15:41

The Dublin Castle, Camden

Was in here last friday afternoon.
Haven't been in here for a while(it use to be a sunday night regular for me)
Service was quick, and the pint of tribute was perfection.friendly bar bloke and the ussual Dublin Castle atmosphere.Good to see Peggy still in there as well
A great pub and a legend on the london gig circuit

The Wilton Arms, Belgravia

Nice pub.Had a very good pint of Whistaple Bay IPA( i think thats the name of it) Cracking Pint.Service good and the Labndlord knows his stuff.
Was in here yesterday and a fella with his wife, commented to the Guv'nor that the Guinness wasnt right. No questions asked, poured down the sink and a fressh pint replaced it.As it should be.Top marks for that

22 May 2014 17:25

Dirty Dick's, Bishopsgate

Not a bad place. The Bombadier was a good pint.and the pub aint bad. Holds a lot of memories for from my misspent youth as part of the boots and braces brigade

6 May 2014 15:26

The Water Poet, Shoreditch

A decent pint pf Hophead. But the service....
Why don't they have a sign saying "Working class scum not welcome...Even though we are in your traditional area"
Maybe we caught the barsstaff on a bad day ,but thye didnt want us there

6 May 2014 15:20

The Owl and the Pussycat, Shoreditch

Not bad pub,but very new shoreditch. But still a pub.The brakespear was superb, a really quality pint and the sevice was good.

6 May 2014 15:18

The Pride of Spitalfields, Shoreditch

racking little pub, tucked away just off Brick Lane. Several ales on hand pump myself and my mate both opted for Fullers London Pride. Perfection. Lovely barmaid, very friendly and very reasonably priced compared with others in the area.
Will defiantly be back

6 May 2014 08:29

The Stags Head, Hoxton

Great pub(so great i suggested it😊).
A traditional little boozer in the backstreets over on the Kingsland high road side of Hoxton. Always has several real ales and all served in an old school jug. The beer is kept really well(never had a bad pint). Barmaids ar egood as well as pleasing on the eye. Attracts some the plague of Hoxton(hipsters) but also a a normal crowd as well.
Musical entertainment is provided by DJs,Reggae, ska and rock steady being played the nights i go.( the toaster has to be seen to be believed).
All in all, a cracking pub be it for a quiet midweek drink or weekend fun

4 May 2014 07:29

The George and Vulture, Hoxton

Decent pint of real ale in here a good few to choose from.
Full of cliched new Hoxton/Shoreditch types
Would be better if a few more tradional Hoxton types got in here(like the fella i was with)
Not a bad pub though.Barstaff were good and the female ones rather pleasing on the eye.

28 Apr 2014 15:54

The Intrepid Fox, St Giles

Great pub, sadly now closed.Always lively and interesting.
Like before,i hear they plan to move to a new venue.hope so

8 Apr 2014 12:11

Springfield Park Tavern, Bounds Green

Love this pub.It has been totally refurbed nad is now clean and smart with Toilets that are actualy within the health guide lines :)
Whilst it is attracting a whole new range of people(you actually get girls in here now!!!)
The old loacls are still here and enjoying the "new" pub
I did have a few doubts when it reopened, but have none now.The barstaff are all bot h friendly and professional.haven't eaten in here but the food looks good,it has to be said
A great pub for all ...But still a local pub

24 Mar 2014 16:05

The Flag, Watford

Was in here Satuirday 22nd Feb to see Argy bargy a local folkie type band that specialise in clog dancing and morris men type routines.Great venue and pub as it goes.Started off with a pint of Fullers "steel" i think it was called, not really my thing.Made in honour of sheffield by the west London brewery, well you northerners are welcome to it.The IPA was superb though.
As i said, a good pub whether you are in here for beer or a gig.
Well kept beer and a decent range
Most of which appeared to have been sample by some drunken Ulsterman called Mcquillan or something..
A great place :)

24 Feb 2014 14:34

The Doric Arch, Euston

I expected an awful ,typical station pub, but was pleasantly surprised.A really decent boozer that does a cracking pint of London pride(well it is a Fullers pub)
A lot rail related history on the walls, and comfy seats if thats your thing.
A decent pub indeed

3 Feb 2014 17:52

Euston Tap, Euston

First time in was on Saturday last. Was over welmed by the quantity of real ales(you can't get one in some boozers, and this place has 20 odd!)
Started off with the Buxton, quality pint.Very fruity
Then spied the Hopspur Bitter which is a redemption beer from Tottenham..Well i had to . Brilliant pint, complimented the Buxton perfectly.
The pub itself is a decent place as well. Its in the old station offices, which in side two war memorials(the other being called the cider tap and a cider version of the one i was in) Small?yes ,but a really likeable place.Defiantly one i would use in the area.
great little pub

3 Feb 2014 17:45

The White Bear, Farringdon

Decent pub,but then again a lot of Clerkenwell pubs are.
Great Guinness and good service

1 Feb 2014 12:02

The Victoria, Tottenham

Great pub.Has a good lot of regulars and a good crowd when Spurs are at home.
Guinnesss is top drawer and service efficient and with a smile.
One of the best in N17
Though why the grey haired bald welsh bloke(Bob ,i think his name is) never takes his coat off even in the Summer is beyond me....

10 Jan 2014 18:30

The Railway, Finsbury Park

Closed,probably end up flats,Shame

30 Dec 2013 14:37

The Nelson, Wood Green

I like this pub.
Tend only to use it to watch Spurs away games, when they are on the box.But a good crowd of locals in the side we watch games. The lot round the other side leave a lot to be desired though.Sadly, most of the real ales seem to be off.but the Frosty bells christmas ale they have on at the moment is not a bad drink. As i said ,i like this pub.

27 Dec 2013 16:52

The Oakwood Tavern, Oakwood

That should read "great locals"...Why npo edit button??

27 Dec 2013 16:27

The Oakwood Tavern, Oakwood

Great pub,and great loackls. Was in here Christmas day for an hour or so.
Guinness superb and quick service(and the place was rammed)
Even the loud ginger bloke with the tattoos on his neck is quite a pleasant chap when you speak to him

27 Dec 2013 16:26

The Pilot Inn, North Greenwich

First time in here since the refurb. Was in the area to see the mighty Chas&Dave.
Still a nice place to grab a quality pint(the London Pride was top drawer).
but i prefered the more homely feel of the pre refurb version.A place i would still visit when in the manor though.
As with my previous post, the charming young lady who lived next but one and her raunchy dances at her bedroom window are sorely missed though..

19 Dec 2013 15:36

Annies Bar, Kentish Town

They must have had a re think with the prices since the last review, coz 4 quid for an un known lager(after i had asked what bitters they do) is not cheap. The lager was piss as well.
Wont be rushing back.

18 Oct 2013 14:31

The Bull and Gate, Kentish Town

Closed .Hopefullly the sign is correct and it will reopen.
Fond memories of this place as a pre gig watering hole going back to the mid 80s.If it stays shut, i will sulk!!!!

18 Oct 2013 14:27

The Assembly House, Kentish Town

Was in here last Thursday waiting for a mate.Had a pinbt of the Hackney best bitter.Superd drop of Ale.
So nice i necked it abnd ordered another/.
Went back this wednesday and it was gone...Shame.The Ale i had wasn't bad, but not a patch on thye Hackney best.

Not a bad boozer, very foody, but still a pub.

18 Oct 2013 14:25

The Boars Head, Hoddesdon

Now a Tescos

3 Sep 2013 15:03

The Bricklayers Arms, Tottenham

Cracking pub.One of only 3 left ojn the high rd that still have locals and doesn't totally rely on the Match day crowd(other 2 being the Coach & Horses and The Vic)
Governer is a decent bloke as well.Brilliant before and after a game

31 Aug 2013 18:02

The Pilot Inn, North Greenwich

A very nice pub in what is a decent part of Town.Beer was superb as expected in a Fullers house. And the clientle were a mixed bunch and not "up them selves" ,as they can sometime be in an area that has " come up in the world"
Only downside, the right fit sort with the Motorbike who lived next door but one has moved..Oh well.

22 Aug 2013 14:20

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

If the quality of the new toilets is anything to go bay the refurb will be a good un.Well impressed

29 Jul 2013 09:45

Springfield Park Tavern, Bounds Green

My local, and i love it.But..............
I know a refurb is going on and things are not going to be the quite right for a while. But is this an excuse to have one person behind the ramp on a Friday evening? .The Guinness went, and the por love didnt know how to change it ,so we were waiting nigh on half an hour to get a pint.Coupled with the toilets being as described by "Ales only" a lot of the old regulars seem to be giving this place a swerve. Its a shame and something i only hope is temporary.
I do feel the owners could have done a better better with the toilets situation(again, i agree with ales only).I also notice a lot of the undesirables that the last manger did well to rid the pub of are creeping back.Oh well.
Lets hope it returns to being the best local for miles.Time will tell

1 Jun 2013 14:14

Garlic and Shots, Soho

Ok Place.Had never heard of but was meeting my mate Angela for a few drinks and she loves this place,so this is where we went.
Tiny little place that sells Vodka and Vodka cocktails of all descriptions.Only beer is bottled San Miquel and Stella. After about 20 minutes, the back table in the "crypt " became availble so we went in there.Aimed at a Metaler crowd, and plays music accordingly.prices werent as silly as i thought (for the west ed)£3.50 a bottle. would go back again. I Would imagine it gets very crowded weekends though

22 Mar 2013 15:24

The Hope and Anchor, Camden

Not bad.More locals than your typical Camdent Town pub,not necassarily a bad thing. Not great, but ok.

28 Feb 2013 17:26

The Cobden Arms, Camden

Was in here Saturday past.
Quality Pint of Guinness, and they sold a decent pint of Snake bite and black, so pleased my drinking companion. She also liked the pub because it was nice and warm.
Good friendly effecient barstaff.A good miix of locals and passing through clientelle. And decent surroundings.
A great great pub

Springfield Park Tavern, Bounds Green

I am not a fan of kareoke in the slightest, but was pleasently surprised with one of the singers i saw here last Saturday(6th Oct).
Why this fella(Elvis O'Toole i think his name is) hasn't been signed up is a mystery that only God can answer.I have never seen such raw vocal talent in all my gig going days.He stunned the crowd into silence with his own unique versions of a variety of all time classics. It is wildly accepted thyat rock legends UFO are the biggest name musically ever to come out of Bounds Green, but i feel in Elvis O'toole we have someone who will make them seem small fry by comaparison.
Simon Cowell get your finger out!!!!!!!!

Polski Bar Sportowa, Palmers Green

Another old London boozer now a shop.
Shame on those responsible

14 Oct 2012 09:51

The Occasional Half, Palmers Green

Not a bad pub, and the quiz on a Sunday evening is a good un,if thats what your into.
Proabbaly my second favourite pub in the area(number 1 being The Springfield park tavern..Home sweet home :) )
Guinness is well kept and not too taxing on the wages(compared with some places i could mention). havn't eaten in here so i wont comment on the food(it is a pub after all, not a cafe). One thing i have noticed isa that there is a good mix of youngsters and older folk, and they seem to get on well enough, which is a very good thing.
Decent friendly barstaff and manager.
A good pub with a apprecitive bunch of locals

14 Oct 2012 09:31

Ye Olde Cherry Tree, Southgate

Hadn't been in here since the late 80s.popped in the other week.
It's different to what it was.Seems very family orientated, but done out nice.
It's now a hotel, part of a well known chain, vbut reatins a pub atmosphere, but not a local type one.Would be a lovely place for a family to go to on a Sunday lunch time or on Christmas day.It was a Saturday lunchtime i was in here and me and my mate were the only two customers(it had only just opened).Be interesting to see what it's ;like on a Saturday evening.Big old place with lots of nooks and crannies to hide in.The pub bar is at the back and a restaurant is at the front. Not bad a place, but like a lot of Southgate feels like it shpould be in a village 20 miles outside of London.

14 Oct 2012 09:23

The Peasant, Clerkenwell

I don't like Gastro pubs.I don't like it when they take an old school london boozer and "do it up" beyond all recognition.
However. They have got this right.Whilst it now has a good wine list and serves food(which looked excellent,it has to be said) it still feels like a pub.The Guinness was superb and the my mate assured me the brewers gold was good as well.As for the mosaic and the flooring,.These are not details put in when the pub was refurbed, but leftovers from its old name "the George and Dragon".It would have been criminal to change them. The "new" name a nod at Watt Tyler and his Peasant Army who camped in the area before going on to make a mischief many centuries ago, i presume.
A great pub, that i will always vist when drinking in the area.

10 Sep 2012 18:10

Goose, Wood Green

Vastly improved :)
Watched some of the Olympics in here,The Dutch created a really good atmosphere and mixed in well with the locals.A real shame they have gone home.
Guinness superb and at a reasonable price

18 Aug 2012 16:41

18 Aug 2012 16:41

The Exmouth Arms, Exmouth Market

Was in here on Saturday. Not a bad place, The Camden Town Stout wasn't bad at all ,but i do sort of agree with the bloke below.I remember Exmouth market when it wasnt trendy as well. One of the few survivors from them days is the Pie and mash shop(was in here as well Saturday).
Still, i have seen worse gentrifications of areas. Not sure what my Great dad and his family would of made of the "improvement" to their area though.

14 Aug 2012 18:35

The Angel, Soho

I think what he meant was for the west end,it is a fairly quite corner.I can (sort of ) see what he means

22 Jul 2012 09:24

The Angel, Soho

Oh and i have said it before and i will say it again...Its in St Giles in the fields, not effing Soho!!!!

18 Jul 2012 16:28

The Angel, Soho

One of my favourite pubs in a part of town with a bit of charactor, though the town planners are doing there best to ruin St Giles.Good pre gig watering hole before going to the 12 BAr just up the road

18 Jul 2012 16:27

Springfield Park Tavern, Bounds Green

A great local Pub.A real centre pin of the Working Class community of Bounds Green(the middle class wannabes have their "local" up the road).
Just last night the barman commented what a good mix of people the pub attracts, predominantly English and Irish, but a good overall mix. It has the feel of a club to it in that most are friendly and on at least nodding terms with each other. Not that this makes it unfriendly to new comers, far from it.
Local pubs like this should be cherished as they are disappearing fast.Once gone, they are gone. You can't recreate something after you have allowed it to go.
If anything ever happened to this pub a large chunk of the Village feeling that makes this small area of Harringey so special will lost to memory.

24 Feb 2012 09:17

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

Was in here last Sunday. It reminded me of what i love about the place.
A large crowd, enjoying a pleasant relaxed Sunday lunch time Drink, and most being on first name terms with each other. Not cliquey, just friendly.
Oh and we saw the Governor dancing to Lady ga ga,worthwhile afternoon out for that alone :)

26 Nov 2011 13:57

The Cherry Tree, Dagenham

Good pub,Ran by nice people and decent customers.
Guinness good as well

17 Aug 2011 16:49

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

Over priced beer for the area?
have you been to the the one up the road? :)
As for the landlord ordering people to buy more drinks, was this during a football match? If so, that could explain it.There appears to be a view (amongst some )these days, that you can walk into a pub and watch a game without spending a penny.
Your discription certainly doesnt match my experiences of the pub.

9 Mar 2011 09:21

The White Bear, Farringdon

Not a bad old scholl Boozer,in a nice Historical part of Town. The Guinness was well kept and the barstaff good.cant ask for much more than that

4 Jan 2011 13:48

The Bank, New Southgate

Not a bad pub.A decent pint of Guinness.Busy on a Sunday. or iit was when i went in

17 Apr 2010 16:43

Devonshire House, Crouch End

What actually is the point of all bar ones??

17 Apr 2010 16:28

The Gloucester Arms, Kentish Town

Was in here Saturday with other gig goers before the Cock Sparrer Gig at the Forum. And a good day was had by all.The Barstaff kept up with the thirsty punters(i reckon over a Hundred). Guinness was still superb

Well done the Bar staff

Anyone attending a gig in the forum, would do well to use this pub, good Beer,Good Service and about 40p cheaper than the other Boozers in the area.

30 Mar 2010 13:29

The Gloucester Arms, Kentish Town

Under new Management.
Good Boozer,Guuinness superb.
Would defiantly visit again

16 Mar 2010 00:27

St Stephens Tavern, Westminster

yes,it is Small, not a bad Boozer though.
Apart from the religious nutter who accused some bloke of being a nazi.
Shame,as she wasn't a bad looking sort..........

Guinness was good

6 Mar 2010 09:18

The Dundee Arms, Bethnal Green

Surprisingly good pint of Guinness.
Not my first choice for a drinking den, but never regeret going in here either

21 Feb 2010 17:14

12 Bar Club, Soho

I use this venue a lot, love it.
The Beer isnt too silly priced and the Guinness aint bad
Was here the other week for the Target club, what a night that was.
Great bands, the sterilizers and MOT were superb and teh DJs were probably the best i have seen in a long while.
Great stuff

10 Feb 2010 22:14

The William IV, Leyton

Good boozer
Tradional East London pub, fairly busy, which is good sign.
The Guinness was superb.
Like pubs use to be, long may it reign

6 Dec 2009 13:52

Bill Nicholson, Tottenham

To all the people slagging off the shot girls, heres my thoughts
pubs in London are closing at a rate of knots, nowhere is this more evident than Tottenham.Football is the local pubs around here's lifeline, hence why they are having to do things slightly differently to bring in Punters
I presume the shot girls are on a deal where they get paid more, the more they sell, just a thought.
I like the bill Nick.If it hadn't adopted these match day changes, theres a fair chance it would flats or a costcutter now.So give it a break

1 Dec 2009 14:51

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

Oh and the Guinness has gone DOWN to 2.80

1 Dec 2009 14:41

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

Monday they have bacon, potatoe and cabbage for 2.50,quality grub for a very good price :)
I love this pub.Decent Guinness, decent Locals and the barstaff know their Onions.

1 Dec 2009 14:40

The Olive Branch, Tottenham

fairly grotty pub, but in a good way.
Agree with nick ,the spurs pictures are great, some i havnt seen anywhere else.
Guinness was good.Next to the now defunct Milford(my first local at football) aaaahhh the memories

31 Aug 2009 13:51

The Boston Arms, Tufnell Park

I agree with the post below, and totally disagree with the one two below
A decent old school pub, with a blinding pint of Guinness.
A mix of locals that are friendly enough and talk to strangers as well as the other locals
Hopefully this pub will never change

31 Aug 2009 13:41

The Queens Hotel, Crouch End

This use to be one of my favourite pubs in London.
Went in here Sunday last. Its ok, but not the pub it was.The satge area is now a kitchen for the thai restaurant.Still good choice of beers, and the Guinness was good and contary to previous posts the service was ok and with a smile, but not the pub it was back in 93/94.

9 Aug 2009 17:24

West Herts Sports and Social Club, Watford

Was in here the other week.I had some Business in there.
There was a blokes 40 going on.Seemed a great do, the quality of the Dancing by some of the birthday boys mates was just sublime

9 Aug 2009 17:18

The Ranelagh, Bounds Green

Wiccaman, do you ever think your drinking in the Wrong area?
Squalid and Dismakl in Bounds Green?
You should go for a bevvy over Tottenham mate, you'll soon realise BG aint that bad at all

4 Aug 2009 14:54

Henleys Bar, Wood Green

Quieter than it use to be(as are most pubs), but ok locals.
Guinness good

4 Aug 2009 14:49

The Wishing Well, Crouch End

Ok
Guinness was good
Niot the sort of place you would go out of your way to go to, but ok for a pint if passing

3 Aug 2009 16:53

Kings Head, Crouch End

Great Pub
Was in here last night.
Decent Guinness and a decent Barmaid

3 Aug 2009 16:53

Ice, Crouch End

Awful
No Draft Bitter, No draft Guinness
Bottled Bitter at silly prices
Please Note.
Not every one drinks lager!!!!

3 Aug 2009 16:50

The Morning Star, Belfast

Food is excellent, but despite selling top notch grub, it is still a pub,and a good un at that. Just what this English boy needs when he's on a cultural tour of the Belfast drinking holes with his Norn Irish friends
I wish we had similiar in north London

9 Jul 2009 13:28

Laverys, Belfast

The first Belfast pub i ever Drank in on my first Trip over in 94(you cant count the Bar of the Airport ) Great Memories of a Bloke peeing up against the Bar.
Superb stuff

9 Jul 2009 13:24

Goose, Wood Green

10/10
Behave:0)
This pub is as bad as some make out, granted, but its still a hole.
Was in here a couple of Sundays ago,and a bloke popped out front for a smoke and left his Drink on a Table by the Door.It was then Stolen by 3 scummers that were being thrown out, only in Wood Green.

The poor bloke didnt even get a replacement.Whilst i acknowledge that the Govnor isnt responsible for all his Customers,a free drink for the bloke that lost his would have been a nice touch

7 Jul 2009 19:11

The Bell House, Camden

Good Boozer
A mix of Locals and Punks(there was a Club downstairs)
Guinness was ok.And has been said, a great location in this Heat wave we are having

6 Jul 2009 14:15

Finley's, Enfield Wash

Good Boozer when i was in here.
Obviously a Locals place, but didnt feel unwelcome
Guinness good, barstaff quick and friendly
Would defiantly use again when on one of my nostalgia trips up Enfield Lock and Wash

26 Jun 2009 18:26

The Admiral Mann, Kentish Town

Cracking little pub, that is almost a secret.
too many Gooners though

3 Jun 2009 10:50

The Bull and Gate, Kentish Town

Was in here yesterday Afternoon.
Great Guinness, and pleasant locals.
All topped off with a friendly decent barman

3 Jun 2009 10:36

The Wishing Well, Watford

Was in here again Yesterday, great pub.
Good staff, and customers that talk to each other.
They even have there own resident Rock Star, although never leave him charge of your Sunflowers.

Highly recommended

30 May 2009 16:45

The Fiddlers Elbow, Kentish Town

Good little venue, but agree with whats been said.
Clean the khazis up, a coat of paint, and have the small bar at the back open and working(the bar in the front struggled to keep up last night).
Guinness was ok.

Was in here last night for the London Diehards debut gig, and The Legendary Gonads.Superb night, packed wiuith the cream of londons Hooligan past and loads of buxom tattooed ladies.

Recommended for a night of Music, but maybe not for a lunch time pint

5 Apr 2009 17:35

Monaghan's Tavern, Wood Green

connor
Despite the young Ladies accents, check their passports, knowing monaghans i bet they will say citizen of ROI
Just a thought ;o)

19 Mar 2009 19:03

The Bull and Gate, Kentish Town

Me and this Pub go back years,24 to be precise. I love it,holds loads of good memories for me.
As a pre Camden Town Drink
A pre Town and Country club(as it was then) drink, or a night in here before sounds effects
An odd mix of Middle aged Irish regulars, their Cockney counter parts, non muggy punks, smartly dressed skinheads or later indie kids
All good stuff

19 Mar 2009 18:49

The Tottenham, Soho

Not a bad pub considering where it is.And you'd be hard pushed to find a pub with a better name :)
Well worth a look

11 Mar 2009 16:48

The Intrepid Fox, Soho

Ok as it goes, was in here Sunday.
Friendly enough Brstaff, Guinness want the best, but not the worst....
But
Closing at 10:30 ??? FFS, this is the west end, this is London, arguebly the party city of the world!! And the pub shuts at 10:30,it was like going back 20 years.
Only fault i can find,to be fair.

11 Mar 2009 16:46

The Bricklayers Arms, Tottenham

Greta pub, during the week as well as match days.
Guvnor decent fella as his mrs.Worth a visit if your passing
Along with the Coach and Horses, probably the best two pubs along the high rd

22 Feb 2009 14:39

The Goose, Walthamstow

Piss hole
I'm use to Goose in Wood Green, and whilst that isn't great, it isn't full of wannabe Gangters and Russian mafia.Mildly amusing watching the afore mentioned types trying to look threatening, and cheap as chips(as has been stated), but i wouldn't rush back.

22 Feb 2009 14:27

The Wishing Well, Watford

Good boozer, Good Guinness, Good Clientelle

3 Feb 2009 17:11

The Oakwood Tavern, Oakwood

Was in here last night. They had a band doing Mod covers(Who,,jam,Small faces etc) bloody good they were to.
However they were over shadowed by the Drunken Ginger haired skinhead who decided to take his clothes off
Hilarious.
Guinness was good as well

25 Jan 2009 14:40

The Lordship, Wood Green

Was in here yesterday, Guinness was good and the Barman quick.
Got talking to one of the old Locals, a fella called Tom.We going on about the decline of the British Local. Now i had never met the fella before, but we had a decent chat, what ya typical London pub use to be famous for.
Sadly this is a rarity these days , not the norm.
I would defo use the pub again

24 Jan 2009 16:37

The Goat, Ponders End

Great Boozer, one of the best

24 Jan 2009 12:33

Railway Inn, Enfield

A good pub, good Governor/ Barman, decent Guinness.
Was in here Yesterday and the fella was telling me that they make loads on the B&B/Cafe side of things, seemed strange, but if this enables a good local like this to remain open, good. The pub certainly doesn't suffer because of it.

24 Jan 2009 12:30

The Ranelagh, Bounds Green

Was in here for our Annual Christmas day drink
The place was packed and had a good Atmosphere. When i went up to get a last drink though, i was informed the bar had shut.No bell or nothing.Thats the difference between this an old school boozer and these new breed pubs.If it had been in the pub ,not a million miles away, the barstaff would have let the punters know in good time that the bar was closing.
The only downer on a good session as it goes

2 Jan 2009 12:15

The Angel, Soho

I was in here again last Night.
Was Drinking the Bitter, lovely Stuff.and no hang over.
I think there were some pop stars in the small bar by the Toilet as well.
Exciting stuff

28 Dec 2008 09:20

The Angel, Soho

FAO Biker and Chopin
Maybe we should start a campaign group to Acknowledge St Giles as a seperate London Village to Soho(a good excuse for a Monthly p*ss up!!)

Its about time people made a stand

Anyone know of any St Giles Born/raised celebs we can get on our side?
The only ones i know are all dead!! Or ficticious(Richard Sharpe, from Bernard Cornwalls "Sharpe" Novels) springs to mind.

16 Dec 2008 09:12

The Goat Tavern, Enfield

A f**king disgrace

14 Dec 2008 17:42

Wheatsheaf, Waltham Cross

Its in Herts, not Essex!!

14 Dec 2008 17:41

The Blind Beggar, Whitechapel

Was in here today
Yes, its getting a bit shabby, but still an ok pub.Service was ok, regulars seemed ok.Cant comment on the ale ,as i was drinking Orange juice
Give this a tart up and it would be blinding(no pun intended)

9 Dec 2008 22:38

BRB at The Gate, Alexandra Park

wexford
You have just described why it use to be such a good pub(well one of the reasons)
Different types of people used it, didnt get in each others way or cramp each others style, yet still felt part of the pub as a whole.

22 Nov 2008 12:02

The Princess Louise, Holborn

Great boozer
And i dont mind the Stout, not as good as Guinness, but nice all the same.
Now the pub.I love the interior its like going back in time to a Dickens Novel without the smell and the Brasses.
The pub has had a refurb, and is now about 6 seperate bars(i suspect that this was what it was like originally) Very atmospheric pub, with a non pretentious city crowd mixed with the odd tourist, and a few people that looked local
Along with the Angel in St Giles(about a 15 minute walk away, and also a SS pub) this is one of my favourite pubs in west of city/west end
A very good pub

15 Nov 2008 13:40

All Bar One, Holborn

Now ,lets get this straight....I hate All Bar ones
But it has to be said, the Guinness in here is very good, and the Barstaff do well in what is a very busy pub.
Its a shame you have to put up with the gangs of 50 year old suits coming out with their crap chat lines to uninterested girls young enough to be their off spring.......................And if that wasn't bad enough,i saw a group of youngish blokes drinking something that looked suspiciously like red wine, the Leader of which had a haircut very similiar to Steve Marriot! Sacrilege should be punishable by Death

13 Nov 2008 18:16

The Hill Restaurant and Bar, Muswell Hill

Use to use this palce when it was the Green man, it was ok then.
Shame

2 Nov 2008 17:30

The Slug and Lettuce, Muswell Hill

Everything that is wrong in the "new breed" of London pub.
If you want somewhere to eat, i dont supoose this is a bad place to go.But its not a pub,not as one should be anyway

2 Nov 2008 17:28

The Famous Royal Oak, Muswell Hill

Good pub, bit of a tek, but worth it.
Does anyone know whats its famous for?
I often wondered.

2 Nov 2008 17:17

The Good Mixer, Camden

Sadly gone down hill.
Shame

2 Nov 2008 08:24

The Coach and Horses, Tottenham

I like this pub.The Guvnor chats to you,and the barstaff are good on a busy match day.Guinness superb.
As i said, ilike this pub

1 Nov 2008 16:59

The Lordship, Wood Green

Shooting in the Carpark??
Sounds like its getting back to what it was years ago, i do love tradition

1 Nov 2008 16:38

Spouter's Corner, Wood Green

As was said, renamed Spouters corner. Something good about the place at last. For those that don't no, Spouters corner is what the corner the pub is built on(along with the Cinema etc)is called ,as it was Wood Green's Speakers corner.
Now all they need to do is get rid of the Albanian Mafia and i may even venture back in

1 Nov 2008 16:36

The Ranelagh, Bounds Green

Bettyleroux
That open mic night? Is it for comedians?? Enter, you'll walk it:0)

1 Nov 2008 16:18

Big Red, Holloway

Great Pub.
bar staff very good, and very easy on the eye.
Was in here last night for the Nemhain Gig last night ,great evening's entertainment .
would highly recommend this pub to any passing.

1 Nov 2008 11:23

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

What alesonly said
The scottish barman is like barstaff use to be, has a bit of banter with the locals and remembers what you are drinking. And by wearing A sSt Mirren shirt proves he has a sense of humour as well :)
The other barstaff are good as well, as is the landlord
Definatly one of my favourite pubs in the Wood green/Bounds green area these days

14 Oct 2008 15:36

The Elephants Head, Camden

Ex football thugs maybe, but recovering smackheads.................Never!!!!!!!!!!!!
They wouldn't be tolerated

14 Oct 2008 15:32

Henleys Bar, Wood Green

This pub is getting back to what it was years ago(1993)
Was in here yesterday afternoon, evening.Greta atmosphere, and a great drink up

13 Oct 2008 19:43

The Durham Arms, Canning Town

Honest east London pub.
Full of proper punters. Both, sadly a dying breed

4 Oct 2008 18:32

The Ten Bells, Shoreditch

Cluck
Its happening all over mate
They are slowly destroying our Culture with modernisation.i'm not against progress, but some things are best left as they are/were

15 Sep 2008 19:23

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

Was in here again last night, superb pint of Guinness and effecient friendly barmaid
All good.

15 Sep 2008 19:19

The Queens Head, Harringay

Was in here last nightwith a mate for one and we were the only two Customers.
All the scum have gone and the Guvnor has a no baseball caps rule, and you have to buy a drink if you go in there(why a rule is needed for this sums up the state of pubs these days)
Its going to take the new bloke a while to get punters back through the doors, but good luck with it mate, at least your are trying to do the right thing.

15 Sep 2008 19:13

O'Neills, Soho

Great Night in here Sunday, rather rough looking crowd LOL
A London skinhead reunion made sure the Barstaff earned their Money,i don't think the tills stopped ringing.

26 Aug 2008 08:40

The Oakdale Arms, Harringay

Superb pub.
Decent Governor(Rob i think he's name is)he took time to chat to me and a friend and took our suggestions as to what would go well on the juke box. Decent Guinness, and not silly prices.
Classic big, old style Cockney pub, think of the Chas n Dave courage best adverts :0)
Gets the balance of being an Altnative pub(very rock influenced) and a local just right.Long haired metalers, rubbing shoulders with oi boys(me and my mate yesterday),rubbing shoulders with someones Grandad...a really good mix.
There was a problem with gents Toilets yesterday, and i passed comment to the bloke next to me, and he quickly jumped to the pubs defence and said it had only just happened and it wasn't usually like this.Thats a good sign when one of the regulars defends the pub, and he wasn't a typical rock type geezer, just a local.
I will be defintly visiting this pub on a lot more of a regular basis.
Shame it wasn't a tadge nearer the local bus routes etc, but then maybe thats a good thing.
Give this a year, and i reckon it will be a very talked about pub, and not just by us LBO Harringey residents
On our way out a group of 3 young girls turned up, late teens early twenties, obviously from outside the Manor, obviously there to check the Pub out.A sign for the future me thinks

31 May 2008 09:35

BRB at The Gate, Alexandra Park

was a classic old school London pub, reall great decor. Not the same since the refurb a few years ago, very pricey as well.Decent Guinness though

29 May 2008 13:57

The Green Gate, West Green

Nice boozer, bit shabby but in a nice way.Decent Guinness, decent barstaff, decent juke box and decent locals.
so, expect it to close and be turned into flats/betting shop very soon

29 May 2008 13:42

The Queens Head, Harringay

Refurb?????
I expect flats, another good old pub(In its pre sports bar days) gone, never to return.
I hope i'm wrong....but
stoneye, i hate gastro pubs with a passion, but make you right in this case

29 May 2008 13:40

The Harrow, Barking

Was in here Saturday for the skinhead Reggae ,ska do.A really good night, bit quiet but a good un.The barstaff are superb, friendly and the prices even friendlier. This place is a massive old type pub, with 2 bars and a large function room. The Music was good, especially the fella that was on last playing a lot of Northern Soul.

26 May 2008 14:58

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

Was in here last Friday. Had a perfectly pleasant few Pints with friends. A good local Boozer, with friendly ,decent Barstaff who are good at their Job.

17 May 2008 16:54

The Maid of Muswell, Muswell Hill

Boring , Bland , middle class Hellhole.

17 May 2008 16:53

The Dublin Castle, Camden

Arguably the greatest night in the history of the Dublin castle took place last night.
The Gonads played!!!!
Not only that but the support band MOT were superb.
A decnt pint of Guinness(other venues please note)and bar stff that realise that people have payed to watch a band, not stand at the bar.
This place went down in my estimation a year or so back(due to the Door supervisors, nothing else), but seems to be getting back on track

4 May 2008 14:49

The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

i always big this pub up.
However, i was in there in the daytime last week and not at night,so could see the place does look tatty these days.A lick of paint and a new carpet wouldn't go a miss.Still a great pub though, i wont let that put me off

28 Apr 2008 16:39

The Goat, Ponders End

Superb Boozer
Guinness, like nectar from the Gods served by a lovely friendly Barmaid from Northern Ireland.
They had a St Georges day theme on wednesday,at it was tastefully done, bangers and mash an all day special :).I really wish i lived nearer this pub, one of the very best i have been in a very long time
10 out of 10

28 Apr 2008 16:36

The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

i think i'll shall start my St Georges day celebrations here.
A good London local because.......it is, not because it's pretending to be.
It's good to see that something of the old east end is still alive......despite being given a north London postcode ;)

22 Apr 2008 10:38

The Angel, Soho

ohsuzyq
You should be Proud to work in St Giles, a historic part of London, more murders in the old rookeries than most of the rest of the smoke put together :)

It has changed some what in recent years;)
Still a good pub,and proper prices....It can be done

8 Apr 2008 10:31

The Queens Head, Harringay

A HELL HOLE ON EARTH
I was a regular in the old Queens, and yeah it was shabby, but a decent boozer with half decent bands.
Since the refurb, its gone down hill fast.I was in there Friday afternoon with a mate of mine.the place was full of scum, and very tatty.I really felt for the young blonde barmaid.Full of wannabee ganstaaaaaassss trying to intimidate anyone outside their mob who was in there, they failed.I dont think they had a drink between them
It's a Gun crime scene waiting to happen
Was going to give it zero, but coz the barmaid was nice i've upped it to 3

9 Mar 2008 09:23

The Oxford Arms, Camden

Not a bad boozer, but not as good as has been stated(horses for course though i suppose0
Its got a certain sort of "Older and wiser retired camden crowd" as its punters, who probaly had their day during Brit pop.Worth a drink if passing, buty nothing else really

2 Mar 2008 14:58

Ice Wharf, Camden

Probably the worst Wetherspoons mixed grill i have ever had in my life(and that is saying something)why dont i learn.
That said, for a couple of drinks early evening, you could do worse than going in here.It certainly keeps the price of a night out in Camden Town down a bit(why is a north London manor priced like the west end?!)
Not a night out, but a good starting point, and i would imagine quite pleasant sitting by the Canal in the Summer.

2 Mar 2008 14:55

The White Hart, Southgate

Nice Guinness, and very friendly and efficient Landlord,Ity was very quiet though for a saturday night, shame.I think thats the trend in general though, not this pubs fault

2 Mar 2008 14:42

The Fishmongers Arms, Southgate

Not bad, one of the better ones in the Area

2 Mar 2008 14:40

The Torch, Wembley Park

ok boozer.
Any pub that can deal with the crowd that was in here Sunday, and the barstaff keep smiling deserves credit.Great atmosphere, and not a bad pint of Guinness.
i would definatly use again if going to Wembley

26 Feb 2008 08:47

The Devonshire Arms, Camden

First time in this pub for over twenty years.
It was ok as it goes, decent geezer running the place(who admitted to me he'd lost loads of customers since doing away with the goths only rule) Its still a goth pub, but more relaxed on the door rules.
Music wasnt too bad,and the ammount of clevage on display was truelly breathtaking :)
Probably wont become me local, but another one to add to the list

18 Feb 2008 17:54

The Hawley Arms, Camden

jamieL
In answer to your questions, no i wouldn't, i checked no one had been hurt before i remarked.
The Hawley arms was a good pub, but became full of arseholes who think they own Camden Town(please note the name, its Camden TOWN, not CAMDEN, thats the borough)
CT use to be such a great place, now its been ruined, and the Hawley Arms is typical of what has ruined it .Hence mine, and others comments

11 Feb 2008 15:09

The Hawley Arms, Camden

Cracking BBQ!!

10 Feb 2008 10:03

The Angel, Soho

Was in he(as said below) last night.I love this pub.1 Pint of stout, 2 pints of Lager 6.13p, in the west end!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Quality

Rather a rough looking crowd in there yesterday though ;)

10 Feb 2008 08:33

The Angel, Soho

I've said before and i'll say it again....This pub isn't in Soho, it's in St Giles Grrrrrrrrr
Stop moving the Boundaries
I'll be in here tonight for a few before a night of Classical Music courtesy of the Cockney Rejects

9 Feb 2008 09:44

The Occasional Half, Palmers Green

Was in here last night, Guinness still superb.Service good and with a smile.
Shame about the loud Northern chap who runs a pub up the road, who was up at the Bar;-)

29 Jan 2008 09:37

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

Decided i'd lower myself and drink with the "underclass" on Saturday lunch time(that comment still annoys and amuses me at the same time)
We were on our way to a gig north of Brum, and were early for the meet.
Guinness was superb(as always) and the strongbow was "well nice" or so my companion told me.
She even commented on the pub" Not a bad boozer this"
So people ,dont be put off by the negative remarks ,give the pub go.

24 Jan 2008 15:50

O'Rafferty's, Wood Green

Jonesey
It was an old school pub, before the revamp as O'Raffertys. The rot started then

16 Jan 2008 09:19

The Devonshire Arms, Camden

So its not just Goth only anymore?! Might give this a go one night, as i pass it most Sundays on me way to the Elephants head

13 Jan 2008 17:56

The Buck's Head, Camden

MMmmmm
What can i say, not really my thing, but certainly not awful.i use to use it in the 80's when it had a lot of character, sadly thats gone. That said, it is one of the cleanist(if not the cleanist) pubs in Camden Town, so credit for that.Barstaff are friendly as well

13 Jan 2008 17:54

The Boston Arms, Tufnell Park

I like the Boston, the Guinness is superb.
Can be a bit rough and ready, but its part of the make up of the place.
I have been using this pub off and on for 22 years
(back then it was for a few pints and then up stairs to see rock legends like the Business and Indecent Exposure)

13 Jan 2008 17:40

The Drum and Monkey, Archway

Not bad, a proper pub:)
Guinness good, and bar staf good as well

13 Jan 2008 17:36

The St Johns Tavern, Archway

What have they done to this place?!
I use to love coming to gigs here years ago.
I've lost count of the bands i have seen here
Now its a gastro type effort
What is it when "middle class ex students" move to an area they forget what attracted them there in the first place and convert the pubs to one of the bland efforts they left behind?!

13 Jan 2008 17:34

The Archway Tavern, Archway

P*ss hole!!

13 Jan 2008 17:28

The Charlotte Despard, Archway

Not my kind of place at all...oh dear!!

13 Jan 2008 17:27

Spouter's Corner, Wood Green

Is this hell hole still open?
With so many decent proper pubs facing the pinch and closing, how does this survive

12 Jan 2008 13:09

The Whittington Stone, Highgate

Decent local, decent Guinness.Barstaff friendly.
Biggish L shaped one bar pub, that has setting designed for eating in on part.
Never feel let down after a couple in here

10 Jan 2008 17:21

The Angel, Soho

Well i like this pub.I was in here on Sunday before doing a stint behind the decks in the 12bar.
Nice traditional Boozer, and at 7 something for 3 drinks quite fairly priced(this is the the west end remember)

4 Jan 2008 13:11

Henleys Bar, Wood Green

boundsgreenboy

Aint that the truth!!!
seen lesst betting slips in william hill

30 Dec 2007 15:08

The Ranelagh, Bounds Green

Not my favourite pub,as my previous posts on here show, but had a blinding day in here on Christmas day.
Probably a combination of the company i was with plus the fact alot of the old regulars return for the xmas lunchtime session.
It goes to show that you can still have a decent pub without isolating the old locals.

27 Dec 2007 18:33

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

Kierah
Dont be so snobbish. The springfield is an ok pub, with locals that actually talk to each other(weird eh?)
Whilst i live dangerously close to the boozer, i dont actually use it that much, but when i do its always been ok with punters that are friendly

A bit like the Ranelagh use to be

15 Dec 2007 16:54

The Springfield Bar & Grill, Bounds Green

Either that or he/she is in charge of the Ranelagh ;)

31 Oct 2007 12:00

The Salmon and Ball, Bethnal Green

I was in here Saturday night.Great pub.
The young Aussie Barmaaid was superb, friendly amd good at her job.She had a an amusing chat with me mates mrs about her braces.
Guinness was good, and not to silly on the pocket.
All in all a good local pub

25 Oct 2007 09:46

The Faltering Fullback, Finsbury Park

FAO little underpants
EMO
Emotional hardcore / Warrior think straight men that look effiminate, wear skinny jeans ,have posh spice hair cuts and cry alot

10 Oct 2007 08:34

The Angel, Soho

Since when has St Giles High Street been in Soho??
It's St Giles!!!!!
Rant over

7 Oct 2007 10:11

The Corner Pin, Tottenham

Guinness is lovely and staff good.
This is very much an old school football pub,and should remain so.
It does give the impression when you walk through the door that you have gone back in time 25 years, but that isn't necassarily a bad thing
Long may it reign!!
And as the last poster said
"Beers up if you hate Arsenal" :)

6 Oct 2007 10:31

The Famous Cock Tavern, Islington

My typing is getting worse;)

25 Sep 2007 09:55

The Famous Cock Tavern, Islington

Not sure this is the place tyo p[ost this but here goes.
This review is about the Venue beneth the cock, boogaloo?!
A good little venue, well set out with a good barmaid
However.
Why is it that venues liek these only sell Lager?!
It's all bottled beer here(no Draught) so why not get some Newky brown or Bottles of Draught Guinness in|?
It really did ruin my nioght here on Sunday.I cant understand it

25 Sep 2007 09:55

The Occasional Half, Palmers Green

I was in here friday night.
I normally only use it on a Monday.
Good night as it goes, and only 2.40 a pint.Thats good for the area.
A great little pub

25 Sep 2007 09:47

The Caernarvon Castle, Camden

Disgracful.
As has been said below.
before we know it we will all be drinking in yates, wetherspoons and other such crap chain pubs.

8 Sep 2007 14:57

Tommy Flynn's, Camden

The most over rated pub in the area.I've heard people rave about this...Why?

5 Sep 2007 19:21

The Well, Muswell Hill

guinness is always good in here and the staff friendly

5 Sep 2007 17:46

The Queens Hotel, Crouch End

This use to be one of the best pubs in north London, sadly not anymore.
Its certainly not the worse, but has definatly lost that something that made it so special

5 Sep 2007 17:34

The Maynard Arms, Crouch End

Mmmmmm
Not really my cup of tea, bit gastro for me.
That said, had quite a good night in here on Saturday.Guinness was ok, and the service was good.
Not sure about the bloke wearing Monkey boots though.
A big no no on people over 11

5 Sep 2007 17:31

The Wishing Well, Palmers Green

Guinness superb, bar staff very good at what they do.
friendly locals.yes, it is very Irish but the comments from 2 years ago about anti English comments don't ring true.i have never heard this in this pub.I don't tolerate crap like that.Only the other week i walked out of the Prince in Bounds green rd because of a CD, they were behind the bar( i would of reacted stronger, but all the barstaff were Polish, so didn't know what they playing).
The wishing well gets a 9 from me

25 Aug 2007 18:13

Devonshire House, Crouch End

P*ss hole, yetthinks its a wonderful place. The all bar ones are all the same,Crap. With a customer base that is so up it selves.
Awful,awful places

22 Aug 2007 17:21

The Champions Bar, Watford

Ok Pub.Guinness was ok
The DJ's were superbon Saturday,a good mix of Ska Punk and Northern Soul.

Downside is it's got an Arsenal shirt on the wall.

20 Aug 2007 12:47

The Elmhurst, Tottenham

Not bad, not bad at all.if ya passing worth a pint.

9 Aug 2007 13:25

The Victoria, Tottenham

Have to totally change me view on this pub.Use to find it unfriendly, spurs games aside. But now ....i really like the place, decent friendly barstaff and Guinness is superb. And they even have "Bad manners" on the Juke box

9 Aug 2007 13:23

The Nelson, Wood Green

Not bad boozer, not one i use a lot though.
And to the poster below, you were probably looking at me when youu came to your conclusion of the people that come in here........But you should see me dance!!

9 Aug 2007 13:17

Spouter's Corner, Wood Green

The worst pub in Wood green(along With Monaghans)
utter utter tripe

9 Aug 2007 13:13

The Nags Head, Belgravia

Agree with last post, it is a strange little boozer.
Not unpleasant, just different.
I always feel i've walked into someone's house during a familly get together

3 Aug 2007 11:15

The Wilton Arms, Belgravia

Nice boozer, in a pleasant area.Guinness ok

3 Aug 2007 11:13

Paxtons Head, Knightsbridge

Had 2 pints of Guinness last night, first was awful, 2nd surprisingly good.
as with a lot of pubs in the area, can get busy if Harvey Nicks or Harrods staff are having a night out.
Lovely looking boozer, very old school(victorian) Genuine as well, i think.
Worth a visit

3 Aug 2007 11:10

The Tattersalls Tavern, Knightsbridge

Livelyish boozer, but the Guinness is rough(or it was last night).
Good if football is on, typical Knightsbridge affair really.
Gets very packed, if one of the two big stores nearby have a leaving do

3 Aug 2007 11:08

The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

"a proper dive withe regulars thinking they own the place"
Has never struck me as that.
Even if that is the case, if you look around at what has happened to all the other old school local pubs in both Hoxton and near by Shoreditch, it is maybe just a little understandable if they are a bit protective. That said, doubtful i was there when you was were, so i cant really comment(i only use the pub when passing.
Regards)

29 Jul 2007 09:10

The Park Inn, Wood Green

Was in here last night.Friendly, without being cliquie.
A decent local

28 Jul 2007 18:35

The Freemasons Arms, Wood Green

Boarded up......let me quess, flats?!!
An utter disgrace the way REAL pubs in Wood Green and elsewhere are closing down.
I don't want to drink in chain or theme pub.If i wanted something as bland as that, i'd wander rouns a supermarket.

28 Jul 2007 18:27

12 Bar Club, Soho

A truelly superb venue. Not the prettiest, but then the best never are.
The London calling Punk nights in here are the best club nights in London.
A right old mixed bag of a crowd from Punks,to indie kids, to emos, to skinheads....I even saw someone from Dalston in here once.Never any trouble(that i've seen0 a really great venue, and night.

7 Jul 2007 09:28

The Angel, Soho

Superb pub, cant understand the critism.
Had a blinding night in there before the Rejects gig last Saturday

7 Jul 2007 09:24

The Two Brewers, Tottenham

Good pub.Good friendly barmaid. Decent locals, and an ok Jukebox.Bit of a Tardis effect as you walk through the door.Would definatly go back

22 May 2007 09:04

The Cock Tavern, Edmonton

Good pub.Busy, yet friendly.Decent pint of the Black stuff.
This pub suffers from having a "rough house" reputation.,i didnt see any evidence of this when i went in there the other Saturday.

8 May 2007 09:28

The Cobden Arms, Camden

Decent boozer, decent Guinness.Friendly Barstaff and ocals alike.Good to watch Football in,or have a quiet drink.

8 May 2007 09:25

Big Red, Holloway

Good pub, good crowd, mixed ages and a few pwople i knew.Guinness was ok,and prices not too steep (for London)
i definatly would go back

5 Apr 2007 18:18

The Dublin Castle, Camden

Have since given up on this pub, despite being agood night out, i dont like the way the door staff are allowed licence to speak to,and treat people the way they do.Shame as only a short while ago, they were ok.And the rest of the staff are superb

13 Mar 2007 09:04

The Jolly Anglers, Wood Green

Guinness is superb, was in here yesterday afternoon

13 Mar 2007 08:59

The Victoria Tavern, Plaistow

Was in here Yesterday!
Great pint,greta DJ's
Sham69 and the Business, superb.

5 Mar 2007 13:35

The Enterprise, Chalk Farm

Agree with Nikij(15th Dec) The Emterprise is a dying breed, a REAL pub!
Please don't ever change

11 Feb 2007 08:28

The Phoenix, Edmonton

Thought the below comment was a bit harsh.
The barstaff are friendly(well they were to me) and the Guinness is good.It doesn't take hours to get served, and the prices aren't too silly.
Not a place you would take a first date, but not a bad little boozer.

8 Feb 2007 14:14

The Occasional Half, Palmers Green

I've been back again, and its still as good, and still half price on a monday ;)!!!
I like this pub
Other places, look and learn! Cheaper beer doesn't have to mean a crap pint!

5 Feb 2007 17:40

The Pleasure Unit, Bethnal Green

Pleae note-The below review should read"a 69 style reggae do" my typing is rubbish :)

5 Feb 2007 17:36

The Pleasure Unit, Bethnal Green

Good venue this.My friends and myself had a ^9 style reggae do here the other Sunday, and good it was to.The venue is obviouly an ex boozer. Its a tyical one bar affair, small atage to the left as you go in(typical of boozers in the area). Its all cans and bottles no draft, but at least the quality is going to be consistent. This pace is really about the entertainment, not the beer.
The staff are superb, and really show an interest in the entertainment that is going on and not just in how much money is going into the till.
I've always liked the Bethnal Green rd,rough and ready but a good atmosphere. The Pleasure unit is in keeping with that tradition.A fine little venue.

5 Feb 2007 17:32

The Good Mixer, Camden

Good little Pub.Guinness ok, barstaff friendly and good at what they do.Punters genuine normal people.I like this pub.Great Juke box, they even have Runnin riot on it.Only complaint is that it does get full to the point where you are always in someones way. but i'm not going to let that put me off.Be warned , the journey up Inverness st to get to the boozer is the usual assault course past the drug dealing filth, but thats not the pubs fault!

5 Feb 2007 17:25

The Dublin Castle, Camden

Was in here on the last 3 Sunday's , great night, good atmosphere.Guinness not to shabby either.
And the quality of the Dancing out the back room was superb!!!
The bald middle aged fella who was with the 3 raunchy blonde sorts, was particularly good at the ol Northern and Tamla!!

19 Dec 2006 09:18

The Dolphin, Kings Cross

Ok Boozer, in a hellhole of London(though kings x is improving)Guinness was good, and the service wasn't too bad considering it was mobbed out with football fans(spurs)
After the game with Arsenal we returned and had a buffet laid on.I would definatly use this boozer if in the area.
regards

6 Dec 2006 12:09

The Elephants Head, Camden

Really need to review there prices,as punters are voting with their feet.No where near as busy as it was,and everyone is saying the same thing "It's too expensive"
The big red down Holloway road seems to be where everyone is heading

5 Dec 2006 09:00

The Hawley Arms, Camden

Goo pub, good guinness, staff ok, and juke box great.
Downside Kelly Osbourne drinks in here!!Now if she brought her dad along, all her awful records would be forgiven!!

13 Nov 2006 18:05

The Welcome Inn, Wood Green

Decent Guinness, but you feel like you've walked into someones front room

13 Nov 2006 18:02

Yates's Wine Lodge, Wood Green

Agree with the view about knocking the whole complex down. This place, wetherspoons and the awful club in between are hell on earth. If this is the future of British pubs, i'm moving to Australia A.S.A.P!

Why oh why do these places excist!!!!

13 Nov 2006 17:52

BRB at The Gate, Alexandra Park

I use to love this pub 4 0r 5 years ago.The quiz nights were Hilirious.
Was k when it first got the refurb, although i didnt like the style. But now....Naah.
The west end prices are a big turn off as well

13 Nov 2006 17:45

Henleys Bar, Wood Green

Oh Dear!!!
What was once quite a pleasant local has gone down the pan!! Horrible clicky atmosphere,if dont bet on the horses you will feel strange in this pub.
Shame, was a nice little boozer a couple of years ago

13 Nov 2006 17:43

The Occasional Half, Palmers Green

i expected to be writing that the Guinness was awful, because its only 1.40 a pint on a monday.
But i'm not!! Guinness was superb, service good and friendly.Normal local crowd.
All in all a good pub.
An the half price Monday lasts all day&night, not just for couple of hours!!

7 Nov 2006 09:31

The Queens Head, Harringay

Utter tripe.
Bring back the old Queens

4 Nov 2006 18:47

The Goat, West Green

Spurs home games aside. i dont really drink in Tottenham. But this aint a bad pub at all.Decent Guinnes, and layed back atmosphere. If you are in the area, give it a go.

4 Nov 2006 18:46

The Toll Gate, Hornsey

This use to be my favourite wetherspoons pub in the world.A night in here , then off to the queens for a late one and music. Was always a decent pint and atmosphere.Has gone down abit since then. Not the worst pub in the area, but certainly not the best

4 Nov 2006 18:44

The Occasional Half, Palmers Green

Half price beer on a monday?!!!! mmmmm
Migh thave to give this a go

4 Nov 2006 18:34

O'Rafferty's, Wood Green

Disgraceful.Thats the only way to describe how Harringey council allowed this place to be knocked down.
As was said below, Jethro Tull played here,i was also told Rod Stewart played here early in his career.Steve Marriot use to drink here.It sickens and saddens me what is happening to the British Pub.It really is something we are genuinly the best in the world at.Yet we are replacing real pubs with chain rubbish and theme pubs.

4 Nov 2006 18:33

The Windmill, Cheshunt

I like this pub, decent guinness, normal punters, packed when Spurs are at home.
All good!!

4 Nov 2006 14:37

The Bountiful Cow, Holborn

Not my type of pub at all.But i can see it being popular with a certain city type crowd.Guinness was ok(ish).Jazz music in the background(not my cup of tea)
The food did look good though.I dont eat burgers, but was sorely tempted to try theirs.
If you a Barrister and you want to taking a client out, could be a good choice but not really a night out with lads type place. And id think the owners would thank me for saying that.

4 Nov 2006 10:30

The Enterprise, Holborn

Agree with the refurb comment.Yres,it looks contempary, but retains the victorian look of a city of London pub.Guinness superb, service very good(and with a smile)Crowded, but a fun type ,wind down on a friday type crowd.A good pub, would definatly go back.

4 Nov 2006 10:23

The Ship Tavern, Holborn

Nice pub, a proper London pub.A bit crowded, but you cant moan about that.Service was quick. My only complaint was teh Guinness wasn't up to much

4 Nov 2006 10:18

The Market Trader, Aldgate

Great pub,a proper London pub.Service good,Guiness good.
Good mix of punters as well. With the total destruction of the Classic British pub,its good to see some that are holding out,

27 Oct 2006 11:03

Goose, Wood Green

Not bad, cheap and cheerful.Service can be a bit slow, but beer is good. Not as bad these days as people make out

7 Sep 2006 17:27

The Clockhouse, Clerkenwell

I've been back again and its even better thabn the first time. The cockney singalong was superb, i love this pub.

7 Sep 2006 17:24

The Faltering Fullback, Finsbury Park

Not a bad pub.Quite classy when you consider whats around it.I'd go back

7 Sep 2006 17:22

The Boogaloo, Highgate

What look mother said
I couldnt care who is meant to drink in here...its rubbish. And numpty's shouldn't try and intimadate people who dont scare easily, a fake pub ,for a fake crowd!

7 Sep 2006 17:19

The Salisbury, Harringay

Good pub, though over priced. An old school London pub, that was given a refurb.i had thought it would be the usual gastro affair, but credit where credit is due, they got it spot on.retained all thats good about a london boozer, but has moved with the times.Juke box is good, though they have bands as well.

7 Sep 2006 17:13

The Salisbury, Harringay

Good pub, though over priced. An old school London pub, that was given a refurb.i had thought it would be the usual gastro affair, but credit where credit is due, they got it spot on.retained all thats good about a london boozer, but has moved with the times.Juke box is good, though they have bands as well.

7 Sep 2006 17:13

The Park Inn, Wood Green

friendly, local pub.guiness excellent.Bar staff are good.

7 Sep 2006 17:02

The Nobody Inn, Newington Green

Great pub, friendly bar staff and locals alike.beer was good as well.I was here a last Thursday, and had a thoroughly entertaining night! Highlight for me was the Rowdy Blonde haired skinhead girl at the end of the night, hilirious!! I will defiantly be coming back!!

7 Sep 2006 16:53

The Sutton Arms, Clerkenwell

Great little pub.Guiness superb, service very good. The Governer is an old school Cockney character, took time to talk to me and my mate, even though it was our first visit.
Highly recomended

15 May 2006 11:27

The Clockhouse, Clerkenwell

Good pub, good service and ok locals.Recomended

15 May 2006 11:20

The Slaughtered Lamb, Clerkenwell

Guiness was rough, the service was so so.Complete contrast to Sutton just up the road

15 May 2006 11:17

The Oakwood Tavern, Oakwood

I cant believe the below remarks. I think the bloke who was serving me the other week was both polite and good at his job(Irish fellow, bout 50) Guinness is good.Nice pub

Monaghan's Tavern, Wood Green

Awful! As was said earlier, they show no interest in serving you unless you either speak with an Irish accent or they know your irish.shut the place down and reopen it with its old name (and real) "the jolly Butchers"
