Waxy's Little Sister, Piccadilly Circus
This is one of the worst pubs I've ever been in. If you're ever in the West End/Chinatown/Leicester Square area and fancy a good drink in a nice pub, then this is definately NOT the place for you. Avoid this pub like the plague and visit the Tom Cribb instead.
However, if you like overpriced shit beer served to you in dirty glasses by arrogant and offensive bar staff then you'll be happy here.

Truckles of Pied Bull Yard, Bloomsbury
I only visit this place for the Quiz Night. It's a bit pricy, though I do like the Old Wallop ale they have.
26 Feb 2008 22:10
The Old Restoration, Cheltenham
The only thing I liked about this pub were the prices of the ales.
26 Feb 2008 22:07
Visited this pub last Saturday afternoon whilst in Cheltenham. I'm usually a fan of Sam Smith's pubs, but this one was very different to the Sam Smith's pubs I'm used to in London. More like a wine-bar/cafe than a pub.
26 Feb 2008 22:05
I don't know this Locus Publicus as well as the one in Delft. But both have an impressive selection of beers.
22 Feb 2007 15:14
The Fiddler Den Haag, Den Haag
This is a regular place for me to go, whenever I'm in Den Haag.
I like the "Firkin" look. And I like a number of the beers, especially Fiddler Stout.
22 Feb 2007 15:11
The Marlborough Head, Marble Arch
I'd say this was the better of the 2 "Eerie" pubs in the Oxford Street vicinity (the other being the Ben Crouch).
Watching people trying to find the toilets is excellent entertainment!
27 Jan 2007 11:56
Still no good draught ales, like the old place, but have had some good nights in here recently. I can put up with draught pale lager or bottled beer for the sake of the music and atmosphere.
12 Jan 2007 07:33
If I specifically want DRAUGHT beer, I go elsewhere, but if I want somewhere that plays the sort of music I like and has a policy of 'No Burberry' and 'No ties', then I can put up with drinking ale out of a bottle.
This bar has a great selection of spirits though.
12 Jan 2007 07:24
I went here one Wednesday to watch/listen to the musicians play. It was a lot of fun, a real gem to find.
10 Dec 2006 11:53
Handy if there are problems at the near by station and you can't get a train back to London for a while.
Nice ales.
10 Dec 2006 11:49
About as good as it gets in Watford town centre. At least you know what to expect with a wetherspoons pub.
10 Dec 2006 11:47
Nice beer and good food. I prefer regular Wetherspoons to these Lloyds places, but still - it was better than the Edward's place near by!
10 Dec 2006 11:35
Not a bad place. Handy for West Croydon train, bus and tram stations.
10 Dec 2006 11:29
Nice pub. Typical Wetherspoons thing - though range of beers was not as good as some were off when I visited last.
10 Dec 2006 11:26
Now that the landord is moving on, I hope they keep the rock bar downstairs open.
10 Dec 2006 11:08
This pub's changed quite a lot since I first went there in Spring 1996. It's become more of a club than a pub over the years.
It's ok, but you do sadly get some idiots in here that insist on ruining other people's nights.
10 Dec 2006 11:05
Nice pub. A gay friend took me there originally. Liked the 80s-biased jukebox.
Took a female friend there more recently and she loved it too.
10 Dec 2006 11:02
Even though this is not the usual pub I drink at in Pinner, I do like taking friends from out of town here first as they always comment on it's appearence - outside and inside. About as traditional a pub as you can get in the area.
10 Dec 2006 10:52
Been back a few times since. The pub is ok - when the beer is ok. When the beer is off, you're better off going elsewhere.
It's always quite dead in here, even at weekends. Still better than how it was before when it was full of chavs.
10 Dec 2006 10:48
Great pub. Rock music meets the Wild West, in North London.
No ales though, only lagers.
Certainly a lot better than the new Intrepid Fox, though shame it's a bit of a trek to get there from the West End.
10 Dec 2006 10:45
The Shakespeare's Head, Holborn
Watch out for thieves in this pub!
Nice beers - nice guest ales from time to time. Usual Wetherspoon's thing.
Some of the people working in there need to lighten up though.
10 Dec 2006 10:42
Nice ales at this pub - Kimberly ales. It might not be what it used to be, but it's ok.
10 Dec 2006 10:33
Nice pub. A friend introduced me to it as she lives in the area. Very handy if you've arranged to meet someone near Redhill station and they are running a bit late. Nicer than the pubs on the town centre side of the station.
10 Dec 2006 10:30
Typical Sam Smith's pub, quite nice upstairs. Went in with a friend one Saturday afternoon - it was quiet when we arrived, but by the time we'd left - only 30 minutes later - it had filled up with people. Mostly tourists (due it's location opposite the National Portrait Gallery and near the National Gallery and Trafalgar Square).
10 Dec 2006 10:26
The Jack Horner, Tottenham Court Road
A great Fuller's pub. The normal good selection of Fuller's ales is on offer - ESB, London Pride, Chiswick Bitter, etc.
Very nice pub.
10 Dec 2006 10:18
The Royal George, Charing Cross Road
I like this pub, very handy for the Astoria and other places.
They do some great beers too - if you like stouts, try Dark Budvar for a Czech alternative to Guinness, it's actually a dark lager but has a similar taste to a good quality stout.
I love sitting out the front in the summer months and watching people walk or drive down the little road, not realising it's a cul-de-sac. The look on their faces when they realise it's a dead end and the only thing down there is the Royal George is great. :D
10 Dec 2006 10:11
I only go in the right handside of this pub (there are 2 sides as you look at it from the street).
Great pub, Old Brewery is nice. You wouldn't believe it was part of the same pub chain as The Crown round the corner on New Oxford Street / Shaftesbury Avenue. The Angel is so different from The Crown, much more like a traditional pub.
Close to Denmark Street - so you often get people with guitar cases in the pub.
10 Dec 2006 09:49
Good food. Friendly staff. Handy for where I work.
They only have keg beers, but still, it's cheap so mustn't grumble too much.
10 Dec 2006 09:42
Well, the Fox re-opened at the old Conservatory bar. But unfortunately they now employ a much more Fascist dress-code. So no matter how much you like Metal, Goth or Punk - and no matter if you are wearing a Black Metal t-shirt with a pentagram on it, or a Punk Rock shirt with an anarchy symbol on it, if you are wearing anything else that ISN'T black, the w*nker at the door won't let you in.
RIP the Old Fox - you will still be missed. F*ck the New Fox - you will be forgotten about. Long Live the Crobar - the only rock bar left in Soho!
10 Dec 2006 09:37
We started drinking here more often after the original Intrepid Fox closed down and grew to really feel at home here.
The Intrepid Fox has now re-opened at the old Conservatory bar near by. However, they now appear to operate a dress code much stricter than the one before. The Intrepid Fox's loss is the Crobar's gain as far as I'm concerned.
It doesn't bother me that they have no draught beer at the Crobar, they still have bottled versions of some really nice real ales, such as Hobgoblin.
I go there more for the music and the general atmosphere anyway.
10 Dec 2006 09:22
The Montagu Pyke, Charing Cross Road
Last time I went here it was still called Moon Under Water. Think that was 7 years ago.
26 Jun 2006 20:06
This pub is round the corner from anoth Sam Smith's pub called The Crown - but the 2 pubs couldn't be more different.
The Old Brewery Bitter at The Angel is really nice. Plus the pub is also handy for Denmark Street and Forbidden Planet.
11 Jun 2006 17:36
Great little pub near the Chancery Lane end of Holborn. Spent about 45 mins there, but will have to go again soon.
11 Jun 2006 17:33
This pub is handy for work. That's the only reason I go in there. Not a bad pub - does have some great ales. But not wonderful either.
11 Jun 2006 17:27
One of the best things about my visits to this pub was the quiz machine. My friend and I had a good laugh playing it.
11 Jun 2006 17:25
Nice pub. Great selection of Fuller's beers. Homely feel in the saloon bar with the fire place.
19 Feb 2006 22:30
Great little place. Great music. Crap selection of beer, but worth a visit.
19 Feb 2006 22:23
My girlfriend took me here on my first visit earlier today. Didn't expect to find a rock pub down some back street in Croydon, but I did.
Thought it was a cool pub, though the lager my girlfriend had was shit.
19 Feb 2006 22:19
I seemed to have spent most of the first weekend of the new drinking laws in England & Wales in this pub.
Now open till 12 at night. Still an excellent pub. Good beer, good food, good music, good barstaff, good fun!
29 Nov 2005 20:02
The Nell Gwynne, Covent Garden
Easy to miss this pub as it's hidden down a narrow ally. But they have a great jukebox here! And not bad beer either. lol
27 Oct 2005 21:13
The Intrepid Fox does indeed rule. I was in there only yesterday and heard no Oasis whatsoever - only cool stuff.
27 Oct 2005 21:11
The Marlborough Head, Marble Arch
I like this place. Have only been a few times, and have not experienced the bad service mentioned below.
I prefer the Ben Crouch Tavern, but this one has cooler toilets!!
27 Oct 2005 21:02
There was a time when this was about the ONLY pub in London that sold Leffe Bruin - now even Wetherspoon's sell it.
I'd still go to De Hems for a glass of De Koninck or Palm though. Either that, or fly over to Holland - but De Hems is closer.
18 Oct 2005 09:45
I was in The Cotswold the other week. The landlord is a great bloke. His staff are great too!
9 Oct 2005 12:15
The Porterhouse, Covent Garden
I like their Plain Porter - that's my favourite of their draught beers.
My favourite bottled beer there is - Erdinger Dunkel.
31 Aug 2005 09:37
The Moon and Sixpence, Hatch End
Not as good as other Moon's pubs in the area, but is the only pub in Hatch End now.
22 Aug 2005 22:27
Crap pub with shit beer and no atmosphere - only go there coz it's handy for the cinema.
22 Aug 2005 22:18
Another pub with a nice selection of Belgian and Dutch beers.
It has a much more continental feel than De Hems or The Bierodrome.
22 Aug 2005 22:16
The Punch And Judy, Covent Garden
Tourist pub really, but easy to find if you're meeting someone.
22 Aug 2005 22:13
It's a pub in the centre of Cheltenham with a late licence.
22 Aug 2005 22:11
Nice location on Croxley Green. Used to go here for a pub lunch when I worked in Croxley.
21 Aug 2005 15:22
This pub has the best selection of real ale in Pinner, and also has it's own car park. Usually a quiet pub.
21 Aug 2005 15:20
Good beer, good food. One of many Moon's pubs in Middlesex.
21 Aug 2005 15:05
Nice pub. I prefered it before they made the beer garden smaller. Nice place to go on a summer's evening.
21 Aug 2005 15:04
William Jolle, Northwood Hills
A Wetherspoon's pub - nice beer, handy for Northwood Hills tube station - that's all.
21 Aug 2005 15:02
The Rising Sun Hotel, Cleeve Hill
Nice pub. Great view over Cheltenham and the Vale of Gloucester - especially on a summer's evening when the sun is setting.
21 Aug 2005 14:50
Great big pub! As with other Moon's pubs, it has a nice selection of draught beers and bottled beers.
21 Aug 2005 14:44
Brilliant Belgian pub - with a great selection of good Belgian ales and lagers! If, like me, you like to drink something nicer than a bog-standard bland lager, then this is a great place to visit.
21 Aug 2005 14:41
Another Samuel Smith's pub with an upstairs. I like this place too.
21 Aug 2005 14:29
I like this pub. It's a Samuel Smith's pub - Samuel Smith's Old Brewery Bitter is quite nice, as is Ayingerbru Hefe-Weisse.
21 Aug 2005 14:27
My friend used to work here. I always found it boring and over-rated. Okay if part of a pub crawl, but otherwise not worth going there.
21 Aug 2005 11:41
Converted cinema... nice. I like this pub. Reminds me of a cruise ship on the inside.
15 Aug 2005 21:36
The Moon Under Water, Cheltenham
This pub is nice in summer if you are able to sit on the little terrace out back over looking the park. Good selection of beers, as with most Moon's pubs. Lack of atmosphere though - as with some other big pubs.
15 Aug 2005 21:33
I remember drinking in here when it was called JJ O'Neill's. It was a major part of the Montpellier Run.
15 Aug 2005 21:27
Nice Cornish beers in this small upstairs pub. If you are lucky enough to get a seat on the little balcony on a sunny day it can be a great place to watch people go by.
15 Aug 2005 20:30
My main reason for visiting this pub is the good selection of Dutch and Belgian beers - both on draught and in bottles. I like the look of the pub too, reminds of bars in Holland.
15 Aug 2005 20:27
The Porterhouse, Covent Garden
This pub has the best selection of world beers in London. I like to try something new whenever I go in - Russian lager, German dark white-beer, American ale, whatever!
15 Aug 2005 20:24
Used to be my main hang out in Cheltenham. I don't like the new look they've given to the place.
15 Aug 2005 20:20
Revolution Vodka Bar, Cheltenham
This pub was better when it was a Firkin pub. I love the fact that it's a chapel though.
15 Aug 2005 20:17
The Frog and Fiddle, Cheltenham
This is a good pub. Reminds me of my student days... partly coz I came here as a student when it first opened. They do a good All Day Breakfast here.
15 Aug 2005 20:14
The Castle, Harrow On The Hill
This is the best pub in Harrow I think - certainly has a great selection of Fuller beers. Great terrace out the back too. Only real pub left on the Hill since the King's Head got turned into flats.
15 Aug 2005 20:02
Good bar on the whole, though due to it's small size can get uncomfortably busy very quickly.
15 Aug 2005 19:58
This pub has the best selection of beers of all the pubs in Harrow.
15 Aug 2005 19:57
I like to go to this pub on sunny afternoons. I can get a bit too busy in the evening though and takes ages to get served. It has a jukebox too.
15 Aug 2005 19:56
The George in the mid 1990s was okay before Firkin bought it. When it became the Frothfinders & Firkin things became much better for a while - great bar staff, fun atmosphere, etc. It then changed it's name back to The George and a really shit pub - no good beers and crap atmosphere. Recently it changed again and became King George VI - only been in once since then. It was okay.
15 Aug 2005 19:49
Nice pub. Used to be a lot better, but it's okay. Possibly not the best pub in Tideswell any more.
15 Aug 2005 19:33
I love to go for a drink in the Intrepid Fox if I'm ever in or near Soho. I tend to stick to the Newcastle Brown Ale or bottled lagers in this pub coz the draught beer is not great, but I like the atmosphere and it's a nice place to relax if you like metal and punk.
15 Aug 2005 19:06
The Costwold is a great pub. Whenever I get chance to visit Cheltenham, I always visit this pub.
The people who run The Cotswold and work there are very nice people. And I love to hang out in the cellar bar in the evening if it's open.
I love the atmosphere and people of this pub. :)
15 Aug 2005 19:02
The Tom Cribb, Piccadilly
Nice little pub. Good Shepherd Neame beers too!
