This is now called The Royal Oak. There are two ale handpumps but only one is ever in use, the other always has the pump clip turned round. I went in here on Cup Final day and they were both turned round. The beers unavailable at the time were Fullers London Pride, widely available elsewhere, and Greene King IPA, also widely available elsewhere to a consistently poor standard so if it had been on I would not have bothered. If keeping ale is too much of a chore for the pub they may as well not bother. Tom_Turd - 31 May 2015 02:38 |
On the central shopping street of Harrow, this place always seems to have customers, even before midday. Cavernous interior with several screens so useful if you want to watch live sport. Only thing approaching a non fizzy beer is John Smiths. There is another handpump but it's always turned around. Toilets are minging. Probably the cheapest pub in Harrow but there are definitely better choices. DuchyBoy - 7 Jan 2011 09:00 |
No longer the rat and parrot!! Have been in there for a swift one when shopping with the boyf. OK in the day- looks like it's lively in the evening but haven't been there after dark so can't comment. Beer (lager) and food both nice. Clean, well run, friendly - again though bear in mind this is in the daytime when it's less crowded. squizita - 21 Feb 2009 17:02 |
Popped in there with a dozen or so mates recently. Bar staff are pretty useless, twice and with 2 different bar starr they got the drinks wrong. They were clearly asked for Vodka and Diet Coke and they gave normal coke and when they were corrected they said the wrong drink still had to be paid for. As there were so many in our group and we didn't want to be thrown out for arguing with thick and hard of hearing bar staff, we paid what they asked, only for the same thing to happen again and be stiched up again with another member of staff. Now when you say DIET COKE it means DIET COKE and not normal COKE, it sounds very different it's two words, if they make a mistake, why should the customer pay for it? They even did this when just a DIET COKE was ordered within the round, they gave a coke, when it was returned to the bar, they asked us to pay for the incorrect drink. Not setting foot in this place again and neither are any of my mates. Considering we spent over 250 in there they can be happy to lose our business... They are getting a 1 out of 10 as opposed to a 0 as the music was ok. Average age of customers seemed to be about 15, even though the stroppy looking doormen who think they're Gods gift to women (they certainly are NOT) seemed to be checking everyone for ID and we saw several very young looking girls throwing up in the toilets and I hear the men's toilets were absolutely soaking wet and stank to high heaven!
