The Kings Arms, Norwich

Bright paint job, boxing pics removed from the wall after all these years, candles on the tables and empty at 10 pm on a Friday. Why change something that works. Rose and Freemasons from now on l think. Shame really.

The Old Thatch Inn, Cheriton Bishop

Stayed at the Woodleigh coach house (very highly recommend) on a Friday on way to Cornwall. As there is no bar the kind landlady recommended the Old Thatch Inn and even provided high viz jackets for dark walk back. We found this to be a lovely pub with a good selection of ales and friendly staff. We did not eat but the food that glided past us looked very good. Assuming we can get back in the woodleigh next year, a visit to this pub will again be in order.

Star Inn, Hayle

We found nice little gem last year and returned again this. Always a good couple ales on and the food is always very good. The bar staff were friendly also. We will return next year for sure.

The Cidershed, Norwich

Excellent range of beers and the first beer festival was on top form. Another ale gem in Norwich.

The Jubilee, Norwich

Nice corner pub with a good selection of ales. It was nice sitting in the conservatory over looking the garden.

The Witchball, The Lizard

Very nice little pub in unspoilt Lizard. We arrived in cornwall on the saturday, quickly unpacked and rushed down to their annual beer festival. The beers were in excellent condition as always. The young lady singing at the time was also very good.

23 Aug 2012 19:18

Albatros, Wells-next-the-Sea

Popped in (or on) for a pint one summers day. Sitting on a boat in the harbour looking towards the sea supping a few real ales just hit the spot. The food coming out looked good as was the beer we sampled. We will return on our next visit.

The Castle Inn, St Ives

Been coming down St. Ives for a few years now and always walked past this pub. Having decided to pop in for a pint we will not walk past again in a hurry. They had a good selection of ales, a few of which had to be sampled. Next year we will try the food. The pub it self seems unspoilt with beermats scattered about on the beams etc (if memory serves). The staff we encounted were also very friendly. Some of the ales were served straight from casks behind the bar. It is my view that this is the best pub in St. Ives so far.

The Union Inn, St Ives

Nice pub which only served doombar at the time. Food was good.

23 Aug 2012 18:36

The Lord Nelson, Southwold

On a nice summers day sitting outside on the rickety old benches is a must. Adnams all round which were in good condition. I got the t-shirt.

10 Jul 2012 07:07

The Green Dragon, Bungay

Very good unspoilt pub which brews it's own excellent beers and at very good prices. Ask if the 5.5% mild is on, at 2:70 a pint it is a must. This pub is a must.

10 Jul 2012 07:03

The Mustard Pot, Norwich

Nicely refurbished a la fat cat with an excellent range of ales. Colin has brought us yet another real ale mecca. A definate must.

10 Jul 2012 06:32

Plough, Norwich

Very good pub with excellent beer. Friendly with a good sized garden at the back. We will definately return again. The blackwood stout was very morish.

29 Nov 2011 12:55

The Seven Stars Inn, Stithians

Very quiet when we went in on a Monday tea time, no food Mondays. The beer was good though in yet another St Austell pub it seems. I'm sure it wasn't before.

14 Aug 2011 16:17

Green Parrot, Perranporth

Had at least three visits in the past fortnight. Each time the food was very good and reasonable. Even though the pub was quite full we did not have to wait long for the food. Ales were in very good condition. We had cotleigh golden seahawk, ruddles best and one other (forgot) all which were good. Some meals came with a free pint. We will definately visit again next year.

14 Aug 2011 15:56

The Kings Head, Norwich

Last time we popped in there were all local ales on which was a nice change. All sampled were in excellent condition. This is another real ale oasis which we will definately visit again.

3 Jun 2011 11:16

The Wig and Pen, Norwich

Nice compact pub which seemed geared up for food. I visited for the festival of dark ales which was unique and must in its self. Every beer tried was in good condition. Could not find a festival beer menu though, (not that my daughter and I are beer tickers of course) !!

3 Jun 2011 11:06

Queens Head, Bungay

Lovely old unspoilt pub with excellent ales. Home of the waveney brewery. East coast mild and lightweight were in excellent condition. A definate must again.

3 Jun 2011 10:45

The Golden Lion, St Ives

Beer here was in reasonable condition unlike one or two noisy locals who incidently didn't sound very cornish.

15 Aug 2010 19:54

Sheaf of Wheat, St Ives

Very ordinary sort of modern pub. The beer we had was in good order, Tribute I believe.

15 Aug 2010 19:50

The Bird In Hand, Hayle

Very quiet even with England playing Hungary. Now brewing their own beers which is good. The paradise bitter was good as was what I believe was an IPA

15 Aug 2010 11:10

The Watering Hole, Perranporth

Nice pub on the beach. Beer was in good condition

15 Aug 2010 10:58

15 Aug 2010 10:44

Bullers Arms Hotel, Bude

Excellent pub. We stayed here a couple of times and the service, beer, food and accomodation are very good. I highly recommend this excellent welcoming inn.

3 Apr 2010 11:45

The Trowel and Hammer, Norwich

Now a very friendly pub with at least four well kept beers and fun live music at weekends.

3 Apr 2010 11:01

The Engine Inn, Penzance

The beer here was good but the food was ordinary. There was not many people in for the day and time. It seemed to have changed atmospere since we went in couple of year ago, perhaps a change of tennents / owners ?

30 Aug 2009 10:09

The Lord Nelson, Reedham

A nice unspoilt pub. Went to the first night of their first beer fest which was good although alot of beers were not on. The ones we tried were good as was the live band outside. If a nice sunny day by the river with good ales in a nice unspoilt pub is what you want then this is it. We will definately visit again.

30 Aug 2009 09:59

The Coach and Horses, Norwich

Very good pub with Chalkhills excellent beers. Have eaten in there a while back and the food was good also. Worth a visit.

17 Aug 2009 19:13

Angarrack Inn, Angarrack

A brief visit resulted in sampling a few good beers. I could not help but feel this is a pub that has lost something. There weren't many people in for the time of day. Most pubs I visit have their own character which this pub seem to lack.

17 Aug 2009 19:03

The Miners Arms, Mithian

Good beer and food in a nice quaint old characterful pub. Staff and land were very accommodating.

17 Aug 2009 18:53

The Tinners Arms, Zennor

Nice old unspoilt pub attacting regular walkers. The beers we tried were all on form. The barman did have an argentina football top on though !!!

17 Aug 2009 18:47

The Countryman, Redruth

Excellent out of the way pub with good food, beer and friendly staff. The landlord was very friendly and pleasant. Each time, I drank no name which was good. Each Mon and Thurs appears to be karaoke night and all who participated could actually sing very well. Will definately visit again next year.

17 Aug 2009 18:20

The Heath House, Norwich

Quite a large pub inside with a nice conservatory leading to a great outside suntrap with a view. Plus there is an excellent bowling green which are few and far between. A recent visit to their first beer festival was good as was the ales. My wife sampled the food and was very happy, 'she is fussy'

28 Jun 2009 11:21

The Freemasons Arms, Norwich

Very good local with beer on gravity from the tap room. Excellent Winters golden and JHB. Mark keeps them in very good condition.

28 Jun 2009 11:14

The Kings Arms, Norwich

Two years on from my last post. The excellent well kept ales do change regularly and are always spot on. It is still very friendly with always someone to talk to which is not that easy to come by in Norfolk. My earlier concerns of becoming a tied house and limiting choice were wrong. You will always find a Batemans beer on along side a wide choice from far and near. No machines or music which a god send. Sports are shown which adds to the atmospher. Michaela and Rik have done an excellent job in a pub I can not find fault with. A must for anyone.

27 Aug 2007 10:30

The Blue Peter, Polperro

Great pub with its own house beer which was in great form. Matbe in bottle form to take home next year landlord ? ? ?

18 Aug 2007 16:25

The Admiral Benbow, Penzance

Great pub. The amount of stuff adorning the walls an celings just has to been seen. Very impressive. Steeped in history. A must for any ale and pub connoisseur.

18 Aug 2007 16:10

The Seven Stars, Falmouth

Very nice and unspoilt. Finally got in this year as the landlord still keeps to old pubs opening hours. Worth the wait

18 Aug 2007 15:42

The Beehive, Norwich

Nice pub with good beer. Had first beer festival this year which was spot on. Left my festival glass there so landlord gave me his spare. Good man. Will definately visit again to sup ale on the biggest collection of chesterfields I have seen in a pub.

24 Jul 2007 22:58

The Blue Anchor, Helston

Excellent, unspoilt with great beer brewed on the premises. Their own spingo bee went down a treat. The t-shirt is also a must.

28 May 2007 17:50

The Peterville, St Agnes

Food was very good here. Beer was in good condition but no local ales were on when we visited. I don't travel 400 mls from east anglia to drink Adnams. You might want book for something to eat or get in early. We arrived when they were busy but the girls managed to fit us in. They earned they wages that evening.

24 Aug 2006 14:05

Fountain Inn, Mevagissey

Nice and unspoilt. The beer was in good condition. Will pop in again if in the area.

24 Aug 2006 13:42

The Tywarnhayle, Perranporth

Beer here was in good condition.
Food was nice but not the biggest portion of cheesy chips in the world for 2:50. Close to the beach with a nice patio area. Good mixture of locals and holiday makers.

24 Aug 2006 13:34

The Pheasant, St Newlyn East

Food and real ales both very good. Children were welcome plus a pool table to beat the wife(much to her annoyance)

24 Aug 2006 13:25

The Crumplehorn Inn, Polperro

Nice pub did not try the food but the beer was in good condition. The old mill wheel is still turning.
Personally I would rip up the carpets and use the original floor.

24 Aug 2006 13:17

The Three Pilchards, Polperro

Very nice old pub. The food was nice as was the beer. Watch out for the sea witches living in lovely old fire place.

24 Aug 2006 13:14

The Old Ale House, Truro

Very nice pub with excellent ales. Old looking interior with bits and pieces sacttered on the walls etc.

24 Aug 2006 13:07

The Rose, Norwich

Nice pub with a nice range of beers. Open plan and sometimes quiet.

4 Sep 2005 22:55

The Railway Tavern, Reedham

Good range of well kept beers and the food seems good as well. Holds it's own beer festvals.

4 Sep 2005 22:41

The Fur and Feather Inn, Woodbastwick

Good food and good range of beers from Woodfordes. Not the most atmosperic pub in the world.

4 Sep 2005 22:35

The Cellar House, Eaton

Quite nice pub with nice garden area in the summer but far to expensive for me. Which is a shame as it is nice outside in the summer with play stuff for the kids.

4 Sep 2005 22:31

Trafford Arms, Norwich

Always a good range of beers which are well kept. Never had the food but it always looks good. Holds beer festival out back around valentines day every year and subsequently gets packed. Chris and the bar staff are always friendly.

4 Sep 2005 22:27

The Rose Tavern, Norwich

Good beer and nice and spacious with a nice garden patio area to sit in when the weather permits.

4 Sep 2005 22:21

The Kings Arms, Norwich

Around 12 beers always available including a mild and a porter or stout. Can get a bit full sometimes. Sadly has now become a Batemans pub so sometimes at least 5 beers are now from Batemans. 70% of the time it's Batemans mild which I like but I do like a change like it used to.

4 Sep 2005 22:16

The Fat Cat, Norwich

Allow ten minutes just to look at the beer menu. It really is mini beer festival every day. Beware it can be heaving sometimes.

4 Sep 2005 22:09

The Duke of Wellington, Norwich

Great pub with plenty of beers alot gavity dispensed from a tap room. Friendly landlord who holds beer festivals out back. Well worth a visit anytime.

4 Sep 2005 22:04

The Coachmakers Arms, Norwich

Nice pub with bare brick walls. Some beers are gravity served and always good.

4 Sep 2005 21:58

The Alexandra Tavern, Norwich

4 Sep 2005 21:56

Champion, Norwich

Very nice little freindly pub , good selection of beer is always on form. Don and Pat are always welcoming.

4 Sep 2005 21:53

The Cornishman, Crantock

Very nice pub. Food was good value for money as was the exellent ales. More cheaper and popular than the Old Albion opposite.

4 Sep 2005 20:03

The Sloop Inn, St Ives

A bit pricey with average food which I felt wasn't very good value for money. Being busy at the time I felt the staff didn't have much time for us. We only went in the once and ended up having most meals in the Bucket of Blood in Phillack Hayle which is exellent.

4 Sep 2005 19:33

The Old Albion, Crantock

Very nice, old and picturesque. Tends to be a bit expensive with only one beer available at the time.

4 Sep 2005 19:02

The Driftwood Spars Hotel, St Agnes

Tremendous beams in the bar. Real ale in exelent condition (they brew their own) and the food was very good. Will visit again when next down that way.

4 Sep 2005 18:48

Bucket Of Blood, Phillack
