dissappointing over priced food on more than one visit. such a pity as it could be a great pub.
still they are coining it in so until we stop eating there it will stay the same, beer is well kept .
wine starting to get into the silly prices, management not over friendly when saying I'm still hungry after a 2 course meal........

no longer a pub rather an eatery. if you hav a boat it will shut early so don't expect a night out off the canal.
why not call it a restaurant. the carvery, it's cheap at lunch time, price shoots up evenings and doubles at week ends. it's packed so vote with your feet and go back to oddingly which is still a pub, just

in the fabulous dartington hall, now to become part of falmouth ? ( imiles away) university.
was a lovely two storey bar now Dartingtonised, trendy, effecient a real ale or two but only for a pint after a walk round the gardens.
someone will be playing a musical instument in the immediate vicinity, the great hall is worth a visit

The Bowling Green Inn, Wells next the Sea
agree with below, good fun pub and decent food, selection of real hand pumped ales.
they try to not join the deep frier march. 7-10 mins walk from sea on the way there........have to pass the globe on the way back

wonderful three masted sailing boat, used to carry grain, now converted to a floating bar / bistro. Can't get excited at all about woodefordes beers, but the atmosphere is great.
once sailed on her to rotterdam to collect grain, so fond memories but the beer....................what a shame

The Golden Fleece, Wells next the Sea
good locals pub right on the quay, much better beer than sold on the Albatross ship right in front of you, "wherry should go overboard. plastic glasses available so you can sit on the quay and watch, boats, tide, tourists.
Never had a bad pint here, never eaten here

The Ark Royal, Wells next the Sea
been using this pub for 10 plus years, pretty reliable usually a good pint, will willingly change if not to your satisfaction, food pretty normal like 10000 other pub meals

The Atmospheric Railway Inn, Starcross
all said already, could be good but it isn't and is going downhill
5 Apr 2010 23:27
The Boathouse Tavern and Grill, Dawlish Warren
built for mass catering, beer is ok and staff friendly, but generally it doesn't get any better, it obviously generates loads of money in the summer so why bother to serve some decent food ? it might hurt the profits

landlord is a local " publican celeb", an off the wall pub usually with a great selection of beers, never felt uncomfortable here even when packed out.
never sure what might happen next, but it will be fun

all been said before, reliable for decent food and possible to have a quiet pint as well. easy parking, can get busy, book

surprisingly good lunch, some good beer, can get rowdy...........

The Mount Pleasant Inn, Dawlish Warren
child friendly great views, beer can vary, specials board need changing as it rarely varies, and you may be lucky and get a decent meal but on the whole predictable deep fried pub muck with a few exeptions

The Admiral Mann, Kentish Town
great local teetering on the edge of survival, used it for ages but it doesn't bode well
5 Apr 2010 22:52
probably one to avoid unless everything else is shut, smells of disinfectant, dreadful music pass on

recently taken over and a wonderful friendly local pub, with wye valley beer, plenty of sports tv but it's not in your face, even has a swap it book shelf.
popular with locals no surprise, very friendly landlord and staff

has to be the best pub for miles, real style in an unhassled way. the only pub i have been told off for not taking the dog in !. home cooked food, home brewed beer, on the river, sells papers wonderful walks in all directions, real massive log fires etc etc miss it, you are missing a real gem

The Carpenters Arms, Walterstone
worth a visit, old settles, tiny bar, food not at all bad, hidden under the shelter of the black mountains
5 Apr 2010 22:30
lovely old one room pub with small hatch, garden unspoilt.
plenty of bottled beer, only worthington on top pressure, a pity a barrell behind the bar would make it
5 Apr 2010 22:27
The Bridge Inn, Michaelchurch Escley
quite difficult to be less friendly than current landlord. deserted at
Easter except for a few passing walkers and cyclist.
locals appear to avoid as well, shame, brilliant location

The Red Lion, Stiffords Bridge
Awful sunday lunch. December 2012. Long wait for ridiculous small portion. White roast potatoes, shrivelled carrots, 2 sprouts and some oily mess. Veg shepherds pie main ingredient seemed to be salt, followed by smash, 2 carrots, 1/2 sprout. Everyone was moaning. You may have just reopened but your food is appalling. No apologies, a wait of over an hour for rubbish. Avoid. We came home and cooked a meal it was that bad
