Just such a lovely place to stop. Good beer and a friendly welcome. Well worth the effort to find but, be warned, if you visit once you'll go back again,,, Pilkington - 29 Sep 2010 14:44 |
I've never been to a friendlier pub. Visited 4 times whilst on holiday in the area - (at a 20 minute walk each way - this was our nearest pub). After the first visit we knew the landlady, her son, the cook and the dog. We were even offered a lift home. Each subsequent evening we spent there was accompanied by some great home cooked food (bread&butter pudding like your Mum used to make!) and chatting with the regulars and visitors. This is what pubs used to be like - with warm and easy conversation to go with the beer. The Breconshire Brewery Golden Valley from the barrel was well kept and tasty; Wadworth 6X also available. Not a huge range - but then not a huge bar! We couldn't fault this little place - a real gem. salutes - 25 Jul 2010 15:30 |
worth a visit, old settles, tiny bar, food not at all bad, hidden under the shelter of the black mountains piratepri - 5 Apr 2010 22:30 |
400 years in the same family and still going strong ! We had a good pint, a good Sunday roast and a warm and sunny day to make it all the more pleasant. You locals are lucky to have this one around ! FvanGalen - 20 Aug 2009 18:15 |
Down the narrow, winding lanes of S. Herefordshire, but well worth finding. Real ale fans shouldnt be put off by the range of keg pumps at the tiny bar the real ale is drawn straight from hidden casks round the back. 6X plus Breconshire Golden Valley. Food was good with a vegetarian choice. Welcoming landlady and locals. Will definitely visit again. krislee - 14 Aug 2007 19:59 |
