A little gem of a pub. Friendly service and locals. Traditional pub games and the feeling that little has changed for hundreds of years in here. Local ales and cider available in bottles. Real fires. Watchetman - 17 Mar 2015 10:40 |
One room traditional local with lovely garden at the back. No draught ( too small a hamlet) but v.good bottled Butty Bach, Gorgeous church and River Monnow river bank with mill. Locals v friendly. Longtown Castle ( motte & bailey) 2 mls up the road. Perfect, 'more lovely and more fair' on a summer's day but sadly rarely open at lunchtimes- except Sat/Sun outside term time. And it's near the Carpenters Arms... Pilkington - 29 Sep 2010 14:50 |
Beautifully preserved village local. I gather it has been run by the same family for 70 years. I agree that a decent locally brewed real ale would made it pretty much perfect, but it is still a bit of a gem! brotherdan - 27 Jul 2010 17:35 |
lovely old one room pub with small hatch, garden unspoilt. plenty of bottled beer, only worthington on top pressure, a pity a barrell behind the bar would make it piratepri - 5 Apr 2010 22:27 |
