A little gem of a pub. Friendly service and locals. Traditional pub games and the feeling that little has changed for hundreds of years in here. Local ales and cider available in bottles. Real fires.

One room traditional local with lovely garden at the back. No draught ( too small a hamlet) but v.good bottled Butty Bach, Gorgeous church and River Monnow river bank with mill. Locals v friendly. Longtown Castle ( motte & bailey) 2 mls up the road. Perfect, 'more lovely and more fair' on a summer's day but sadly rarely open at lunchtimes- except Sat/Sun outside term time. And it's near the Carpenters Arms...

Beautifully preserved village local. I gather it has been run by the same family for 70 years. I agree that a decent locally brewed real ale would made it pretty much perfect, but it is still a bit of a gem!

lovely old one room pub with small hatch, garden unspoilt.
plenty of bottled beer, only worthington on top pressure, a pity a barrell behind the bar would make it
