The Royal George Inn, Appledore

ate in the restaurant on the sunday night along with one other couple. food was ok and service was ok but at 60.00 for 2 meals in a pub, not good value. on our own in the pub for over an hour and decided to leave so they could close for the night. didn't look any busier through the rest of the week either

The Beaver Inn, Appledore

Couldn't get in here on the saturday and sunday as the place was rocking but managed to visit every other night for the week, staff very friendly and used by lots of locals. seems to be a pet lovers pub as countless people came in with their dogs. Ate 3 nights in the restuarant excellently cooked. didn't have a bar meal there but from what i saw being served up to the customers, it looked really good and plentiful. best pub in appledore as far as we were concerned

The Westgate Inn, Taunton

just spent the last weekend in Taunton and visited the Westgate on both saturday and sunday. Beer garden now has patio heaters and a smoking shelter ready for the incoming ban in July and Carl is getting a new gas bar-b-que for patrons to use. Still great live music every week end and a great U2 tribute band on over the bank holiday. New food menue at affordable prices. Great banter from the regulars and Carl makes one smile quite often

The Kings Arms, Taunton

with regards to the previous reviewer, welcome to Staplegrove!. drink up and carry on to the next pub. Lots of pubs do not encourage strangers to drink there

5 Mar 2007 19:46

the duke of monmouth should have knocked it down in the pitchfork revelution instead of using it as his headquarters. the ales are from the same centuary along with the clientelle

5 Mar 2007 18:47

Stanley Gate Inn, Bickerstaffe

Drank there 35 years ago on a regular basis, during the last 20 years it has gone so far down hill it's untrue. Ale and food and clientelle is crap. It's no longerv a local, just a pub for food for families with no atmosphere.

5 Mar 2007 18:38

The Royal, Silverdale

stayed here in the 60's and early 70's many atime. also went camping at the nicholl's farm now owned by Frank Burrows the butchers. Had some wicked times there and as a family we have had some great days out there with nice meals and the odd drink. Don't seem to remember the silverdale arms pub, only the royal hotel opposite Shaws petrol station and the club. Was there this year, 2007 for a quick pint while staying in Blackpool for a week seems to have gone in decline

5 Mar 2007 18:32

The Railway Hotel, Parbold

The Bispham Hotel, Blackpool

Stayed at The Norbreck Castle Hotel at the end of November for a week (485 bedrooms), a round consisting of a pint of Fosters with a large Bells and a dash of lemonade cost 7.60. Found this pub down the road and we went there every night till 11 then back to the Norbreck for the end of the entertainment and a few drinks before retiring to our room and a couple of shorts that we'd brought with us. The pub was nice and friendly, good quick service, a terriffic pint of mild which they dont sell in South Wales so i had to batter it "in excess of 12 pints a night and as chep as chips" as they say when your back home in good old Lancashire. Aye an we ad fish cheps and peas.

5 Mar 2007 17:27

24 Jan 2007 21:17

The Ship, Barry

unbielavable in it's transformation since becoming a (hungry horse pub). very lively busy young family type location. very popular-b prepared 2 wait 4 ur meal, it's that busy

24 Jan 2007 21:14

Royal Hotel, Barry

has had a make over in the last 2 years, but not been in since then so couldn't honestly comment on it's current stance

24 Jan 2007 21:12

The Star, Dinas Powys

owned by robin hood, only lottery winners cud afford a pint here. menu not as good as 5 years ago. another refurb we will b paying 4 for years 2 come, i think not!

24 Jan 2007 21:08

The Malthouse, Dinas Powys

bin dun up i have bin assured, god only knows what it was like b4

24 Jan 2007 21:06

The Railway, Penarth

the menu is crap, and it's always cold. not like it was years ago- living on it's reputation but not 4 much longer i think

24 Jan 2007 21:04

The Oystercatcher, Penarth

stopped going when it changed 2 a "hungry horse outlet". basically a bag of sxxxt. come back andy!

24 Jan 2007 21:00

24 Jan 2007 20:53

Eli Jenkins, Cardiff

a great favourite 4 lots of different people. business lunches, t time snacks and meals, evening meeting up place, but not a local.

24 Jan 2007 20:51

The Albion, Penarth

great pub 4 the over 40's. was brilliant while john and linda where there. still a top pub but will take time 4 the locals 2 accept the new landlords fully.(no disrespect 2 them) just a mark of respect to j&l. great atmosphere in bar and lounge, great characters such as brian and albert.

24 Jan 2007 20:48

The Red House, Cardiff

pub had been closed 4 ages. used 2 use it daily when i lived in grangetown. looked a sxxxt hole but had bags of charachter and great ales.pity the developers couldn't fit it in the plans 4 the international sports village. i thought the chimney was a protectedi i.tem, obviously not now the pubs knocked down. doesn't seem right driving down ferry road towards the yacht club any more. i wonder how many people remember stopping off there on their way 2 or back from penarth 4 their holidays 4 a bag of crisps and a bottle of pop while their parents had a drink inside.
