My new local and certainly the best pub in Low Fell. Reasonably priced and good selection (Strongarm ale particularly good). Also a dog friendly pub (not unusual to see many canine regulars, even on a Friday night !).
13 Apr 2015 01:19
Proper Scottish pub (dissapointed at the lack of Scottish beer though - would have at least liked a pint of Tennent's!).
24 Dec 2011 15:52
On the upside, this place always shows the big boxing matches and does not charge you any extra for the privilege (the only one I know of in the West End that does this). Selection of beers on tap and prices are average for area. On the downside, judging from the times I've been in, this place seems to be a Spurs pub (which may or may not be a bad thing depending on your point of view).
8 Jan 2011 02:28
Being the only pub in the hamlet, this is more a place to eat rather than a full on pub as such (better to head to Balloch if you want a drinking session). However, tennent's and St Andrew's ale on tap.
7 Jan 2011 00:42
This place is not what it used to be - they force you into the downstairs bar too early these days and the whisky menu is even more sparse than usual. To top it off, they no longer have irn bru - a Scottish bar with no irn bru - really ? Incidentally, they don't do Tennent's either.

The Marquess of Anglesey, Covent Garden
Usually full of theatre goers - nice pub, serves kirin ichiban (good beer in my opinion), Slightly on the expensive side - expect 2 pints and a packet of crisps to cost more than 10.
7 Jan 2011 00:30
Have always liked this pub; the hot mulled cider is particularly good, especially considering the winter we've had !
7 Jan 2011 00:27
Carlsberg export on tap - every time I go to this place I get hammered really quickly. Good thing in my book. Just as good on Friday as Saturday.
21 May 2010 01:56
Seems to be closed for a refurb at the moment - have always found this a good spot for a quiet pint. Usually full of theatre goers.
21 May 2010 01:53
Have always managed to miss this place but finally went in there last Saturday - very, very quiet - strange as all the surrounding bars were rammed. Good for one I suppose if you really need to sit down for a bit and need some peace and quiet - not my usual Saturday night.
21 May 2010 01:50
The Bell And Compass, Charing Cross
Not a bad place to kick off a nights drinking, simply because it's next to the station. Usually rammed in the evenings - I think they open the downstairs bar now, but then again it's fairly rubbish down there.
2 Mar 2010 01:46
The Two Chairmen, Trafalgar Square
This place seems to have changed it's name a lot, although I think this is the current incarnation. There is usually a sign outside that says 'good looking people this way' or something like that - I have been in a few Friday evenings now and the place is always fairly quiet. I can't work out whether the sign would put people off, or the extortionate price for a pint of Becks. Wouldn't make it a regular (good looking barmaid though).
2 Mar 2010 01:42
Very much the tourist trap, and in all honesty lacks atmosphere because of it. Any of the nearby pubs are better !
2 Mar 2010 01:27
Personally I quite like this place since the refurb - also a good selection of beers on tap. Good place for a quick 'one for the road' before you get on a bus on Whitehall.
2 Mar 2010 01:25
The Porterhouse, Covent Garden
Ok, I am writing another review on this place as my previous one has generated the odd negative comment (and I accept it may not have been as balanced as it could have been).
I will always think that that chiller stuff is nasty - I enjoy lots of beers, but this tastes more like shandy.
On the upside, this place still seems to stock a lot of bottles, including some that are really hard to find elsewhere (especially Sam Adams, can't find it anywhere else in the West End). The place is often very packed, but always has a good atmosphere. The bar staff are also polite.
1 Mar 2010 01:37
I think if you go to a place like this, you should know what to expect really - it's always going to be expensive, the bouncers are always going to be difficult and there will always be those annoying people in the toilets who expect you to pay them for giving you a paper towel. There are many clubs like this in the West End - personally, I think if your up the Saturday night club thing, this is the best one to go to - in concurrence with some of the comments below, this is where a lot of very attractive ladies seem to go!
1 Mar 2010 01:30
I had previously been a regular at this pub (around 99-06) and have posted some good comments before - went back a few weeks ago after a few years of absence.....what has happened to this place? The old quirky (but likeable) atmosphere of this pub has just turned to sterility. The barman was extremely rude and unpleasant and it wasn't even busy. What a disappointment - so may pubs these days are refurbed and come out crap at the other end - such a shame !
1 Mar 2010 01:07
The Freemasons Arms, Covent Garden
Good boozer, although can get very crowded. Have only been in 3 or 4 times (Friday nights mainly) and always seemed to have a good atmosphere (was there
8 Jan 2010 07:01
Have been on a few Saturdays when they play movie soundtracks all night, which is quite cool. Not sure it would be any good on a normal night though.
8 Jan 2010 06:39
This place just doesn't work for me; I guess the temptation to go in is based on firstly, the late licence and secondly, you pretty much always get a seat. However, it's far too dark, too loud, and the tables are those really long ones (so you and your friends are all spaced out). Add all this up, throw in the candlelight, and personally I just fall asleep in the place (i.e. it kills the night out). Also too expensive.
8 Jan 2010 06:36
The Captains Cabin, Piccadilly
Almost always dead on any given weeknight - which is good if you want a seat and an audible conversation. However, sometimes a bit too quiet for my liking. Not the same story on a Saturday evening though.
17 Nov 2009 06:53
Fairly pleasant place to have a few drinks during the week; not so keen on Saturday however - far too many pretentious types and too many young people.
22 Oct 2009 04:59
The bouncers are very OTT with their searches - don't appreciate having to empty my pockets into a bucket. Not worth the effort - once you get in it takes ages to get served and it's full of kids. Avoid if you are 25+.
27 Sep 2009 01:34
Good place to get a quiet (ish) drink late on a Saturday night - I think it opens until 3, but most of it's clientele usually disappear around midnight (assumedly to hit the nightclubs). Not so keen on the place now they have taken the pool tables away. Also, not as good as the Belushi's in Covent Garden.
27 Sep 2009 01:26
Not so keen on this place after the refurb - purely aesthetic though, still ok as a boozer.
27 Sep 2009 01:08
Good beers, nice atmosphere and friendly bar staff - can't ask for more than that really !
27 Sep 2009 01:04
Typical Covent Garden - expensive. Poorly stocked (in terms of beer). The upstairs bar is crap, the basement bar is bearable.
26 Sep 2009 02:52
Ok, I will start with the upsides fist. Personally I think goth bars are cool - like the image of this place and enjoy the music. This place is also much larger than the old fox and I think opens until 2 or 3.
The downside - whoever runs this place needs to employ a cleaner. The place is filthy, particularly the toilets which are disgusting. Have also been served drinks in dirty pint glasses - not good really.
26 Sep 2009 02:45
Went here a few weeks ago after an absence of many years - nothing has changed. Noisy, dark, expensive, horrid music. This place is not even worth going to for the late licence anymore - plenty of local bars that cater for that. Have no plans to return.
26 Sep 2009 02:39
Seems to open quite late - not exactly sure until when. A good place to have a couple of quite pints for the road after the pubs have kicked out (so good if you don't fancy a club or the intrepid fox). Never gets particularly busy.
26 Sep 2009 02:37
Think this place may have recently closed down - also not listed on the Fuller's website anymore. Shame, as personally I liked the place. The hung, drawn and quartered is not far away if you want to go to a Fuller's pub in the area.
26 Sep 2009 02:12
I have never been to a Sam Smith's pub that I liked, including this one. All the beers are disgusting, the interior resembles a 1980's old mens social club and there's no atmosphere. Avoid.
13 Sep 2009 17:50
The Royal Standard, Blackheath
Good pub quiz on a Sunday evening. Have been a few times during the day (mainly Saturdays) and always seems to be relaxed and pleasant; I think the place has improved since Charlton have been falling down the divisions !
13 Sep 2009 17:27
The London Stone, Cannon Street
Really like this place - it's nice to have a goth themed bar that isn't filthy. Will never go back to the intrepid fox now !
13 Sep 2009 17:02
The Porterhouse, Covent Garden
I only go in here owing to the fact that they have a large menu of international beers available. However, on a recent visit the barman told me that they were going to be cutting down the menu somewhat; if they are going to be relying on their 'in-house' beers on tap, I wish them luck. They are all awful, particularly the polar bear one called 'chiller' - I am a seasoned, hard drinker and that stuff even made me feel sick !
13 Sep 2009 16:59
Tends to get very packed but great happy hour on a Friday night (I think it was 2 a pint the last time I was there). Food not bad either.
4 Feb 2009 02:42
Good during happy hour on a Friday / Saturday (although they kept serving us bottles of beer with no labels which was quite disconcerting). Have always found the place to have a good atmosphere inside, although the bouncers can be difficult when trying to get in.
4 Feb 2009 02:36
This place always seemed crammed (i.e. you never get a seat) but the service is good. Although I assume it's supposed to be an Irish 'theme pub' it is certainly better than any O'Neills I have been in. Definitely worth a stop if your crawling around soho.
4 Feb 2009 02:27
On the upside, this place opens until 3, has a large cocktail / whisky menu and doesn't attract young people. On the downside it is very expensive and they actually don't have nearly half of the whiskies listed on the menu when you ask for them !
21 Jul 2008 10:12
Had a great night here a few weeks ago. I nearly collapsed when I bought a round, but then again clubs in the west end are not cheap. Bouncers did seem a bit stern, but then again they were keeping kids out, which is a great thing. Good if you have a large group of friends and want to dance the night away. Otherwise, stick to the pubs.
2 Apr 2008 14:34
Ok pub but not nearly as good as many of the surrounding places. I find the place a bit confusing (in terms of layout). Head a bit further up for the Founders Arms or walk to London Bridge and go to the Market Porter.
2 Apr 2008 14:21
The Sherlock Holmes, Charing Cross
I like this place - if you sit outside tourists will take pictures of you (well not you, the pub, but still). Resonably priced for the area. Nice place to have a pint after work if you don't want to be somwhere with loud music and young people.
2 Apr 2008 14:16
Doggetts Coat and Badge, Southwark
The upper two floors always seem to be reserved for one function or another but on the rare occasion you can get up there the views are pretty decent. Good beers, pricey but aren't they all down that way.
11 Jul 2007 20:41
Ben Crouch's Tavern, Fitzrovia
Great place. You can buy mixed shots named after members of the Adams family - not entirely sure what's in them but could not rememeber a thing after downing them all. Whatever happened to the nightclub that used to be next door to this place (Hombre) ?
11 Jul 2007 20:38
The Crooked Surgeon, Leicester Square
Still basically the old hogshead, nothing has changed except for a slightly darker refurb. Still a good place to watch football (although sometimes you have to nag the bar staff to put the sound on). Still a popular starting point for numerous birthdays, hen and stag parties etc. The Stella tasted a bit strange and then I noticed that the next pint out was full of yeast / mould............
29 May 2007 09:25
The Porterhouse, Covent Garden
I am just issuing a small warning regarding a lager served in this place called 'chiller'(the pump has a rather aggressive looking polar bear on it). I suspect the polar bear looks unhappy because it's urine is regularly harvested to produce this lager -it's nasty - do not drink it !
Otherwise an ok pub.
27 Dec 2006 12:33
In agreement with the previous comment, I don't think this is anything more than an average smokey boozer. Ok for a quick stop on a crawl but would not recommend spending a whole evening here.
18 Nov 2006 22:40
Generally not a fan of Sam Smiths pubs; I don't think their beer tastes of anything in particular but it is cheap so I guess you get what you pay for. The night I was in it was full of drunk blokes with a few of them kicking off. Can't imagine going back anytime soon.
18 Nov 2006 22:37
I think this place has gone downhill a lot in the past couple of years and is now frankly awful. Far too loud, far too expensive and no real atmosphere. I have no plans to ever visit again and withdraw any previous positive comments.
18 Sep 2006 05:14
This place isn't bad for an O'Neills and it's probably the best one I have been to. Good location and in agreement with one of the previous comments you always get a seat!
18 Sep 2006 05:10
This place is very modern - it feels more like a hotel restaurant than a pub. Quite pricey (circa 3 pound a pint) but given the area this is to be expected. In agreement with previous comments the best thing about this pub is the view of the thames.
31 May 2006 12:06
Great place; can get a little crowded and you may have to wait a while to get in but it will be worth it. Great atmosphere and best of all live jazz all night - you can't ask for more than that !
11 May 2006 10:00
Went in here briefly on Saturday on a pub crawl and it was extremely quiet (so much so in fact they were closing up at 9). I hear that this place is ok during the week as it gets a lot of trade from the nearby offices; a bit out of the way on a weekend though.
2 May 2006 09:43
I didn't say that it wan't expensive because it is (though I don't ever remember paying 5 for a bottle / pint). It is good for a 'one for the road' pint before you head home - I have only ever been in here after 11.30 and not ever had more than 2 drinks.
17 Mar 2006 14:12
The Knights Templar, Chancery Lane
Interesting pub. It is probably the best wetherspoons in the UK and, as per every other comment, the bogs have to be seen to be believed. The whole place is very plush with high ceilings and posh decor. It is also one of the only wetherspoons that does not attract chavs or under agers. However, as in common with all wetherspoon pubs, it is soulless and has no real character.
10 Mar 2006 12:51
Although I am in agreement with the previous comment, this place does have it's uses. It is usually quiet, you always get a seat and it opens very late (I usually go into the bar via the Leicester place entrance which I think is the same bar). Basically, if you want a quiet drink after the pubs have closed and you don't want a full on nightclub, this place is worth considering.
10 Mar 2006 12:39
The Essex Serpent, Covent Garden
I may have caught this place on an off night but it seemed pretty lifeless to me and annoyingly enough most of the beers that were on tap they didn't actually have for some reason. Poor.
8 Mar 2006 16:17
The Punch And Judy, Covent Garden
Ok, so no one seems to like this place. For: Good location, reasonable selection of beers, two bars (upstairs and basement), good view of covent garden from the balcony. Against: Expensive tourist trap, very small and usually very busy and therefore extremely cramped, much better bars in the immediate area. Summary: Ok for a quick pint if you're on a West End crawl but otherwise avoid.
8 Mar 2006 16:14
The Court, Tottenham Court Road
A typical yellow card pub; ok for your first few weeks as a fresher at uni but not much good beyond that. I think that this pub has been better in the past but now is quite poor; the beer is not up to much and the place seemed generally quite dirty to me (the toilets were remeniscent of trainspotting). My friend also had his bag stolen in here.
2 Mar 2006 23:05
The Polar Bear, Leicester Square
It's a great shame that this pub is no longer a no smoking pub as this was the best thing about it. However, the downstairs bar is now open all the time and is ideal if you want to watch the footie as it is never that busy (i.e. you will always get a seat and it's not noisy or overcrowded) and there are lots of screens.
2 Mar 2006 22:59
The Elephant Inn, North Finchley
Probably the best pub in North Finchley; this place is slightly off the beaten track (it is not on the high street where all the other pubs are) and so it does not attract all the youngsters and drunks that the other local pubs do. If you want a quiet drink in a pleasant pub then this is the place for you.
23 Feb 2006 10:56
I think that this place is worth going to at least once but I would not make it a regular night out as there are far better places in the area. Not a particularly good selection of beers (if that bothers you). If you want to get completely hammered and dance the night away to cheese music, this is the place for you. Bar staff are very friendly.
8 Feb 2006 14:49
Callaghan's Irish Bar, Piccadilly
In agreement with the previous comment, a very pleasant pub with a good friendly atmosphere. Will definetely go back soon !
29 Dec 2005 03:03
I think that this place is genuinely more expensive than most other clubs in the West End (I am basing this mainly on the extortionate entrance fee). The club itself is very small and cramped and on a busy night there is barely room to breathe. Nothing special.
29 Dec 2005 02:57
Nice surroundings and good food (which is odd given that they have the same menu as the Horniman and the food there is bad). Good selection of beers to. Prices ok for the area.
14 Oct 2005 15:12
In agreement with one of the earlier comments, this is probably more of a cocktail bar more than a beer joint. Probably a bit small to spend a whole night in here but a good place to meet to kick off a night out. Also opposite an all you can eat for 5 quid chinese restaurant so well located !
11 Oct 2005 14:35
Erm, there are enough negative comments already so I don't want to repeat whats already been said. I have only been here once and the night I went in the place had it's fair share of rowdy drunks and it seemed expensive to me. Also thought it was a bit tacky and about as far from a 'London pub' as you can get.
10 Oct 2005 11:40
The Horniman at Hays, Southwark
Not too much to say that has not already been said; the location is wonderful with good views of the thames; the prices are also reasonable for the area.
On the down side, service genuinely does take ages most of the time and the staff tend to be a little grumpy. The food is of low average quality.
28 Sep 2005 12:26
Thinking about it, I probably agree with most of the negative comments about this place in a sober state of mind. However, went in here the other night and had a real laugh (was already drunk on entry though).
Shots for 2.50 each seemed like a good idea at the time !
7 Sep 2005 14:27
The Moon Under Water, Leicester Square
Probably one of the worst bars in the area. Limited selection of beers, no character and always overcrowded. To sum it up in one word, chavtastic !
6 Sep 2005 11:41
A bit off the beaten track in Victoria but nonetheless a nice pub; did seem rather quiet for a Saturday night but this can be a good thing. A good starting point if you are pub crawling around the Victoria / Whitehall area.
2 Sep 2005 10:56
Very nice little pub to have a few pints in after work and relax / unwind etc.
2 Sep 2005 10:52
Not sure about this one really; on one hand its too crowded, the music is loud to the point where you can feel your brain being damaged and the quality of the beer being served is poor. However, the atmosphere is very social and you can have lots of fun beating tourists at pool. Also, opens until 3 on a Saturday and only costs a fiver to get in.
1 Sep 2005 11:10
The Lord Moon Of The Mall, Whitehall
Good location, reasonable choice of beers. Did not try the food so cannot comment. The best thing about this place is that its a wetherspoons (cheaper drinks) but at the same time it's quiet and feels relativley upmarket.
1 Sep 2005 11:02
The Polar Bear, Leicester Square
Great for watching the football as it has a couple of plasma screens and your clothes don't end up smelling of stail cigarette smoke . Surprised it's taken so long for this pub to be added as its been around for quite a while !
1 Sep 2005 10:42
Excellent selection of dutch / belgian beers - Amstel, Hoegaarden, Leffe dark and blond etc and many more. Great to go to a pub with quality available rather than the usual Carling / Fosters etc crap.
2 Aug 2005 15:26
Would have to agree with most of the comments - this place is overpriced, too crowded (as a result it can take ages to be served) and is not as good as many of the neighbouring pubs in soho. However, one thing it does have is a good selection of European beers to choose from, some served in very cool glasses.
11 Jul 2005 12:59
The Salisbury, Leicester Square
In agreement with most of the other comments, very polite service and interesting decor / architecture.
Was asked for ID which usually annoys me, but the barman in here was so polite about it I wasn't really bothered.
29 Apr 2005 19:24
Not sure about this place really - the beer is quite expensive and may be lacking in quality (I had one of the worst stomachaches of my life after a night in here). Also lacks atmosphere although the downstairs bar is ok. There are better pubs / bars in the immediate area.
27 Apr 2005 10:21
This pub is right in the middle of a large group of student halls. In that respect it is a good place to meet a few people and get your social life going. Cheap drinks are also very handy for most first year students !
20 Apr 2005 09:47
My friends insisted on dragging me into this place last Saturday. Despite my reservations (having been there before) I agreed to give it another chance. I was not dissapointed - it was awful as I expected. There is a wide variety of pubs / bars / clubs in the area. It is not worth paying six pounds for a pub with rude bouncers, poor service and crap music. You only get so many Saturday nights in your life - do not waste any of them in here !
20 Apr 2005 09:30
Not a bad pub but not memorable by any means. Seemed to have a few resident drunks and the food looked a little off......
11 Apr 2005 12:13
This pub lacks atmosphere and character. Given the choice of pubs in the area, this is probably one to avoid.
11 Apr 2005 12:07
Have to agree with the other comments - not a particularly inspiring pub. Ok for a quick pint when deciding where to move on to but wouldn't spend an evening in there.
11 Apr 2005 12:03
In agreement with most of the other comments, this place seemed rather expensive to me for nothing special. Basically very boring with no character.
4 Apr 2005 03:26
Cheap comedy every Friday night - you can usually find the comedians handing out the flyers around leicester square. Generally the acts are quite similar every week so probably not best to visit too often. Beer / prices are ok.
4 Apr 2005 03:06
The Argyll Arms, Oxford Circus
Have regularly walked past this place over the years but only went in for the first time the other night. The internal architecture is very interesting; it looks like the pub has been relatively unchanged for many years and the surrounding area has sprung up around it. Seems like a good spot to meet your friends if you are going on a night out in the west end.
21 Mar 2005 21:26
Quite a large pub with a car park and little competition in the immediate area. Food is of moderate quality. Can get quite busy when there is football on. Better off heading into North Finchley if u want a drink around here.
21 Mar 2005 20:59
The Slug and Lettuce, Waterloo
Been in here a few times, probably more when it was a bar med. Nothing to write home about really. The only good point is that it's usually quiet so you can get served quickly and also use the pool tables.
10 Mar 2005 12:53
Went in here the other night. Was already drunk (having watched super chelsea thrash barcelona) but noticed that the beer tasted better in here than the other pubs I had been to (it was also cheaper !). They were also playing rock / indie tunes which is better than the pop / dance crap that most other places play around the area. Would definitely go back !
10 Mar 2005 12:33
Only been in here a couple of times. Seemed ok to me - pool tables are always good. Atmosphere seemed quite chilled.
8 Mar 2005 15:34
Went to this place a few times when I lived in Plymouth. Always felt like a 'local' pub to me where students were not particularly welcome. Not unusual to see a fight outside at closing time (which I did several times).
8 Mar 2005 15:30
The Royal George, Charing Cross Road
Accidentally strolled in here during yet another drunken haze. Sooned sobered up though. This place just seemed very odd - just had one drink and left very quickly. Bar staff were not particularly polite and did not speak to anyone other than the mate I was with. Possibly just caught it on a bad night ?
28 Feb 2005 17:07
The Porcupine, Leicester Square
Quite a small pub for the area so can get a little cramped. Just opposite Leicester Square station so a good meeting place to kick off a pub crawl.
28 Feb 2005 16:56
Used to go here when it was the office and went in again the other night. This is probably the only nightclub in the west end who will literally let anyone in, which is useful when you turn up with your mates at midnight all completely pissed. The drinks always seem somewhat expensive to me and the club itself is extremely dark and cramped. There is usually a ridiculously long queue for the cloakroom and the bogs are just plain nasty. Only good if you can't get in anywhere else or one of your mates turns up in trainers or a hoodie, which alienates you from everywhere else.
28 Feb 2005 12:40
Always very crowded on a Friday / Saturday night, but then again it is a huge pub and has about 3 or 4 floors (I think). Good to watch the football (as there are screens on every corner) but not much good for anything else.
28 Feb 2005 12:22
Ended up in here after a lengthy pub crawl around soho. From what I remember it was very dark and cramped and the toilets were filthy. Can't comment on the beer as it all tasted the same by that point.
28 Feb 2005 12:17
Not a bad pub. The upstairs is a little cramped but reasonably priced (for the west end), polite bar staff and good location.
28 Feb 2005 12:12
This pub has been my regular for a good 3 or 4 years now; i'm not entirely sure why but it just is. It is not the best pub in London by any means, though it is my personal favourite. The beer is reasonably priced and there is a pool room upstairs (though they have recently got rid of a table so it can be hard to get a game when it's busy). Other than that there isn't much else to say. If you're brave enough try the downstairs nightclub on a Friday night..........
25 Feb 2005 15:26
Probably the most boring pub in the world.............No atmosphere, terrible food and poor service.
21 Feb 2005 12:05
The Leicester Arms, Piccadilly Circus
Pretty average pub, probably not as good as many of the pubs/bars close by. However, it is one of the few places on a Saturday night in this part of town where you can actually get a drink as it is relatively quiet.
17 Feb 2005 15:26
The Hogshead, Leicester Square
In agreement with most of the other comments, this place is probably the best place in the west end to watch the football, although sometimes you have to ask the barstaff to put the sound on. A good pub to warm up in before you hit the clubs.
7 Jan 2005 20:11
Been here a few times now. Very good for pizza and cheap cocktails. However very noisy and for some reason very dark !
7 Jan 2005 20:06
Nice spacious pub with 3 floors and a beer garden. Usually lively on Friday and Saturday nights. Reasonably priced beer and pool tables.
4 Aug 2004 05:38
I am a regular at cheers on a Saturday night and always have a good time; the atmosphere is lively and the bar staff are friendly. The only drawback is that they stop serving jugs / pints at 8pm and the bottles are relatively expensive.

Used to drink here when I was at Finchley Catholic High; nothing much changes. It is still populated by under agers and tipsy teachers. Only drink here for Finchley Catholic nostalgia purposes !

I often pop into this pub after a few in the refectory. A good pub to have a few quiet pints and a chat with friends. A bit on the smokey side sometimes though.

This pub has been my regular for a while now, mainly owing to the pool tables. Generally a great pub, but lacks cleanliness sometimes.

The Gateshead Arms, Gateshead
One of the few pubs I know of (down here at least) that have McEwan's Scotch Ale on tap. Would give it a thumbs up for that at least. Otherwise, nothing remarkable.
