Friendly pub away from the town centre circuit but loads of real ale and a knowledgable landlord

Very busy pub--- in summer anyway. Food seems to be the most important factor and although we didn't eat the amount of wastage left on the tables outside would have fed a starving family for a year.Perhaps if it wasn't so busy the real ale MIGHT tempt me back.

Emphasis on food, but real ale and an excellent sitting out area
make it worth seeking out.

Seek this pub out. It is just off the old railway line which is now a walk/cycleway. Excellent real ale range

Seek this pub out!
Not very pretentious from the outside, but really good beer, an excellent beer garden in a superb setting and apparantly the meals are excellent value.

Yes, it is a restaurant, but it is also used by the locals, and getting a drink has never been a problem.

Silktork is exactly right here,we arrived on a Sunday lunchtime to be regarded as a bit of a nuisance as we were not dining. Also it IS very prim and proper. Having said that, it also was very popular.
