Great little pub in a wooded dip, just outside Killay itself. It's situated next to a now non-existent station and apparently used to be the station house. The old railway line is now some kind of walkway and is popular with walkers and cyclists. The pub itself is a cracking find. It has a number of small, but cosy rooms and stocks several ales from the Swansea brewery. Some are dispensed by handpull. Others come direct from the cellar. Beers on during our Sunday visit were Swansea Barland Strong Ale, Three Cliffs Gold, The Original Wood, Bishopswood Bitter, Deep Slade Dark & LMS, Wychwood Hobgoblin, Wells & Youngs A Good Stuffing & St Austell Proper Job. They also had Gwynt y Ddraig Two Trees Perry on. We sat in the front bar, which is lined with plenty of interesting pcictures and jokes. We were the only people until around 20-30 muddy cyclists arrived. Probably the nicest pub we have found in the Swansea area. blue_scrumpy - 24 Dec 2013 17:12 |
Flagship pub for real ale in Swansea West. Proper pub atmosphere with 3 different bars and convenient for walks in the Clyne Valley. Front bar a cosy classic populated by some interesting characters from the area and you can easily strike up a conversation most evenings. One gripe is that the pub does not stock a good lager. I know real ale puritans dismiss lager drinkers but lager, like cider, stout and the rest all need to be represented at least in bottle form. johnlee - 4 Sep 2011 18:01 |

My favourite pub in Swansea - no make that anywhere :) . I recommend the Original wood Although as the brewer Rory would say "you want to be careful with that stuff" and I never listen ;) Fantastic semi rural pub with beer brewed in Swansea. hotrod69 - 9 Jun 2011 13:57 |
Went in recently when down on holiday. Great range of well-kept beer. I think you would call the locals a funny lot of old timers! They are however, a friendly bunch and make the atmosphere. Make sure you visit when you are in the area NigelW - 2 Sep 2010 12:15 |
