The Pig and Whistle, Liverpool

Age-old real old timer pub on the walk between Pier Head and Moorfields station.

Great atmosphere, good ale and steeped in tradition.

The Ma Boyles Oyster Bar, Liverpool

Ma Boyles is not only the closest decent restaurant and pub to the Pier Head Isle of Man port but also a good price, good food and good beer establishment.
Walking up Chapel St towards Moorfields Station (or just behind James St Station), the restaurant is just over the flat gravestones of St Nicholas's churchyard.
I found this pub/restaurnat whilst waiting once for a froce 11 to abate to a force 10 when sailing home to the Isle of Man.

Good good, good beer, good people

The Hesketh Arms, Southport

Sad to hear of the "major renovation". Since when could the British renovate successfully? Probably killed all that olde worlde charm that the place had from the subsequent comments. Was really my favourite Sunday roast pub in Southport!

The Bold Arms, Churchtown

Must agree. Lovely old pub, lovely setting in the middle of the oldest part of Southport (Meols) but the place just lacks that something. Uninviting and I'm rarely in the place

The Bold Hotel, Southport

Whenever in the town of my birth, we inevitably eat at least one meal at "The Bold".
The food is very good and payable and the range of beers just all that one could want

Very nice carpeted lounge bar in the hotel reception room

The Terminus Tavern, Douglas

I don't have many regular places in Douglas but this is one of them. Not only the beer but the food is good and, in summer, the al fresco seating is welcome. Not only a good place to wait for the MER Electric Tramway or Horse Trams

The Rovers Return, Douglas

If Boakesey likes it then it MUST be good!

The Quarterbridge Hotel, Douglas

Imagine the TT without the Quarterbridge!!!! Just doesn't work does it? The double pub by the double roundabout is at exactly the right place

The Clarendon Hotel, Douglas

Like the Albert (next door), a good old Dickensian pub for real ale drinkers.
Super olde worlde atmosphere (and building)

The Bridge Inn, Douglas

Another wooden floorboards, down to earth pub. I like the place and so do lots of others in summer when more beer is drunk on the harbour's edge than inside the place. Al fresco tables also.

The Bowling Green Hotel, Douglas

A bit too much middle of the road, be thankful that we are open type of public bar and lounge kinda place. Not very warm as far as atmospheres and attention goes

The Albert Hotel, Douglas

A real pubmans pub - the sort of place you expect sawdust on the floor and really good ale.

I give this down to earth Dickensian pub a higher note for its ambiance. The beer is in line with all other local beers

The Saddle Inn, Douglas

Tried this hidden away pub out this last week. Nestled in the hidden Queen St just behind the North Quay, this wooden floorboarded, seasoned drinkers inn is firmly in Okells hands and is good for an olde worlde bevvy

Probably not the place for a lady on her own but the gents were docker class fair rather than rough

Nice hideaway and good Okells Bitter

The Waterfall, Glen Maye

3m S of Peel. Especially popular in season as overlooking the beautiful Glen Maye on the island's West coast. Often views of the Mtns of Mourne in North Ireland

Children welcome in lounge bar/dining area until 7.30pm.

Beers: Local Okells Mild and Bitter et al., also Glen Maye whisky

The Hawthorn, Greeba

I can't agree with moo about expense. The Hawthorn is one of my favourites BECAUSE it is good food (and meets with Continental standards) and the price is very much mid range.
Of course, it might appear expensive to burger eaters but THAT is not FOOD is it?

The Manx Flyers Aero Club, Derbyhaven

Trevor & Dianne sadly moved on and The Church was sold to new owner. Food is now questionable or at least a case of talking nicely to the barkeeper at the right moment.
Otherwise, the beer and service are as good as ever.

Bar George, Douglas

Was there tonight gambit and just a few "after workers" enjoying a snack or meal.
Dunno where you get pretentious from unless you dislike mobile phones like me.
The people are perfectly normal - they just don't swear.

The Spitfire Arms Ale House, Windsor

Don't miss Windsor NS - the birthplace of ice hockey, Fundy Bay tidal influence and the Spitfire Arms Ale House.
Troy Kirkby's ale house in rural Nova Scotia. A great Irish style pub where word of mouth has spread the message that the pub has more than 100 different kinds of beer and a neighbourhood atmosphere.
We were not only were spoiled with a choice of beer but also had a really good meal here.

The Liverpool Arms, Baldrine

Fantastic day on Mann again and sitting outside at the Liverpool Arms enjoying a great lunch. Nigel and Paul spoiling us.
Can't say anything else but - its just great

The Highwayman, Peel

New large dining and saloon bar pub on the road to Glen Helen.
Whilst it has a 24hr licence, is open normally from 12 til 12 and serves meals 12.00-14.00 and 18.00-21.00.
Serves Okells, Carling, Guiness and Heineken.
Good impression for drinking or taking the family out for Sunday lunch
