| Another old school pub of two halves next door to the market. Not as rough and ready (though the pool table appears to be in the lounge or 'posh' half) as the market with a £2-95 price tag for a pint of Okells bitter probably keeping the riffier raff out. Snarling_Mallard - 21 Mar 2019 23:54 |
| Always try to visit on my infrequent visits to the Island. Okells Mild is no more but Bushy's Ruby Mild as sold here is even better. Still has Guinness off the shelf and is now listed on CAMRA Heritage Pubs website. Long may the Albert prosper. oldandmild - 24 Jun 2017 12:11 |
| Situated immediately nextdoor to the Old Market Inn, this is another traditional boozer. It has two larger rooms than its neighbour and stocks some more unusual ales from the island. Okells Bitter is in just about every pub. But this pub also had Bushy's Ruby Mild & Castletown Bitter & Hooded Ram Ram's Best Bitter. There were a few characters in here. Much of the action centred around the pool table. Others were more interested in some kind of quiz machine, whilst one old boy contented himself by putting some kind of dross on the jukebox and swaying to whatever noise was emanating from it. The other room seemed quieter and there were nautical pictures on the wall. I preferred the Old Market. But this is not a bad pub. blue_scrumpy - 5 Jan 2015 21:48 |
| Seems to be just about the last pub in Douglas with Okells mild.Also bottled Guinness "From the fridge or off the shelf?."How civilized bottled beer served at room temperature,as it should be. The beer is really good here. oldandmild - 27 Sep 2012 04:41 |
