The Canonbury, Canonbury Place
Fantastic, huge garden and good range of drinks. Shame about the interior and the absurdly expensive prices.

The Prince Regent Bar and Kitchen, Islington
Also on BITE as 'The Regent', which is its actual name - the Prince Regent was its name under former landlords.

Marvellous boozer in a great location. Has thus far managed to stay the right side of poncey. Great range of beers, although a shame that they've recently lost a few of the more obscure German options in favour of your more standard beverages.

The Pig and Butcher, Islington
Large open single-room style place, good food and a good place to watch the footie IF you can get a seat. Staff always pleasant but sometimes overwhelmed. Lacks somewhat in atmosphere. Reviewer below was fortunate to visit on a day when there were "no idiots or lager louts in" - there usually are.

Very fancy gastro pub, possibly the poshest place I've ever been in that can still (just about) call itself a pub. Excellent food, decent beer garden out the back.

Looks like someone is finally making a go of this place after several failed attempts under different names. Free jukebox, good range of lagers (Peroni, Leffe, Heineken and more), excellent pizza. Good, if slightly drunken, atmosphere. Currently one of my favourite venues in the area.

Less a pub, more a very, very good restaurant. Don't come here unless it's for the food (but you really should come for the food).

Ridiculously huge screen visible to most of the pub makes this a prime footie watching venue. Otherwise, you know what to expect, it's a Wetherspoons.

The Old Queens Head, Islington
A great pub in most respects, one of the best in the area, although the food is pretty average and there being nothing on tap upstairs is a bit of a pain.
Oh, and this place DOES NOT have Sky TV.

The Cumberland Arms, West Kensington
Great food, great drink, great service, great place. Anonymous on 7 May sums it up: "an oasis in a sea of crappy chav boozers".

Good pub for watching rugby in (for footie head to the 3 Kings), good jukebox, decent food. Late licence on the weekends, which is nice.

The Curtain's Up, West Kensington
Used to be terrible, now just mediocre. Theatre downstairs, which is nice.

The Famous 3 Kings (F3K), West Kensington
Great for watching the footie in - has about 10 screens including 2 big ones (oo-er), so will almost certainly be showing whatever it is you want to watch. Cheap food. Bloke on mic adds character.

Used to be reasonable, but has gone through an alarming series of management changes and has barely made it out the other side. Only place in town for karaoke though!

The Molesworth Arms Hotel, Wadebridge
My first local, and still my favourite place when I'm the right side of the Tamar. Great atmosphere, great beer. Shame they stopped doing twister chips with garlic dip though. And the bar staff aren't as fit as they used to be - or maybe I'm just not as drunk when I'm in there as I used to be...

The Lexington, Kings Cross
Great gig venue upstairs but be careful of the clientele - had my ipod nicked in here.
