Beer selection good on our visit and tasted even better. However, the small lad fancied food and in the main the mains were outside the budget, finally settled on the steak and oyster pie only to find it was steak and mushroom, not beef and bottomfeeder as hoped. ~Perhaps the lack of sealife under the pastry crust explained the lack of chips, it did seem a tad mean not to include even one triple fried chip in the headline price but that seems to be the way of the world. Didn't alter the fact the pie was good though boony - 31 Mar 2013 20:47 |
Foodie but beer-drinker friendly, upmarket pub. Decent pint of local Redemption Pale and two other beers. Food not sampled but looked good. Nicely decorated. curioushistory - 25 Feb 2013 15:18 |
Closes on a whim, as it did this week. Don't go out of your way to visit. davidb - 30 Sep 2011 10:19 |
Popped in for a few pints of a rainy day, very nicely kept Wandle and a not bad butcombe. Cant comment on the food as had just finished lunch before popping in. Staff were more than friendly including the manager and seemed to have a good rapport with people popping for a quick drink. Would pop back if in the area. paddypint - 2 Feb 2010 20:44 |
Nothing special. The food is expensive and average, ditto the beer, staff are aloof and the atmosphere is pretty flat. It seems to rely on being the local diner for the extremely expensive surrounding houses and flats, which is fair enough but gives very little incentive for anyone else to make the effort. I'm off to the Albion next time... whatbill - 18 Aug 2009 15:54 |
