Very busy 16th-century timber-framed pub with two bars. We were on the point of performing a U-turn as soon as we walked in until someone offered us their table next to the fruit machine. Cask ales were Otter Elf and Otter Amber, Ledbury Best and Hobsons Town Crier. The Best wasn't to my taste but the Elf was in fine condition and set the bar for the other pubs in the town (which, to be fair, they matched).

The senior chap, bearded, and in sage green from hat to ankle, hobbled in again after an hour or so. "You're back. Where've you been?" asked the bar lady. "Oi've bin molin' love", he explained.
He bought a drink, as well he might. There was a fair choice.
Some ales from Wye Valley, others, apparently rebadged ones from Ringwood, and so on, but no sign of Gloom Jar anyway.
The music did appear to be genuinely home-brewed, at least in part though. Someone seemed to be a Leadbelly fan. (I tried to work out a pun involving "Ledbury", but it would perhaps have had to feature a Japanese, and it all got too complicated).
This is a pretty, multi-roomed, wattle-and-daub pub, maybe Tudor.
It seems to be about the best in this pleasant town, and I'd give it eight-out-of-ten.

Came here 3 years ago. In anything, my appreciation of this place has increased.
Superb location, atmosphere and ale.

The best Ledbury had to offer in terms of pubs and sited amidst all the historic buildings on Church Lane. My only criticism would be that the pub does feel as if it trades on this location and rests on its laurels rather than concentrating on its own strengths. Ledbury Dark, Hobsons Best, Youngs Hummingbird, Wye Valley Butty Bach, Courage Best & Wells Eagle IPA were the 6 ales. Rosies Pig was the real cider. The front bar is traditional and the back room is nice too. Tables were being moved at the front in readiness for live music on my Sunday afternoon visit. Well worth a visit.

Sadly only had time for a quick visit as we were on a coach trip but seemed an excellent pub in a really nice location. I had a great pint of Otter, with Hobsons also on tap,and they also stock a good range of Belgian beers with live music on a Sunday afternoon. Well worth a visit.

A bit of a find this. I am trying to visit the top 10 pubs in local counties on my walks. Herefordshire is a little far away from my normal list ticking, but when I stumbled on this gem of a pub, I had a feeling it would be in the list.
Stunning location - nice landlord and I had a decent pint of Otter.

A dangerous place to visit as it is impossible to walk out after one pint due to the choice of beers there! It was one of the reasons that we moved to Ledbury, we can now walk there. The beer range varies but much of it comes from local breweries. Very good food. Music often live on Sunday afternoons. Found off the High Street tucked up a cobbled alleyway behind the large beamed building on stilts!

Another great Ledbury pub tucked away on probably the prettiest street in England... Snug bars at front, restuarant at rear. Wye Valley standing favourites: Butcombe, Butty Bach, HPA and Wye Valley Bitter on offer as well as Otter beers. Good mix of locals / tourists. Highly recommended.

What a great pub. Visted there yesterday as we were passing thru Ledbury. Just mussed lunch although the food that people were finishing looked very good. Beer choice is excellent and the locals very friendly. Met a guy called Tonic who could not have been more hospitable. Thanks. Great band playing, music every Sunday around 16.00. A must to visit.

Long been on my must visit list, the POW was worth the effort. 8 West Country beers on offer from the like of Butcombe, Wye Valley, Otter as well as a nice range of bottled world beers.... and try the pies............mmmmmmmmmm
|
Excellent pub is an alletway off the main road. Friendly customers and staff. 7 beers available (2 from Wye Valley, 2 from Hobsons, and one each from Butcome, Cotswolds and Otter). All in top conditioned and reasonably prices at up to 2.90. Well worth a visit.

Regularly in Ledbury always return to the Prince - sublime real pub atmosphere. The ales, beers or Stowford Press are always kept very well, the range of Tyrells seems to grow with each visit, and the pies are a good plate full too, have never had an average visit. Will always highly recommend - just try it. I'm back down next week.

Lovely little pub where I felt at home immediately. Good choice of real ales and friendly staff.
|
This pub is just off a chocolate-box - it looks beautiful from out-side - but very much an old-fashioned pub inside! We came to try the ales as reviews are good and certainly all ok plus a surprising range of exotic lagers - not brave enough for one of those though. Only disapointment the Guinness but we're finding that up here.

One of the best pubs I've been to. Great beer, and proper pub atmosphere despite the ridiculous prettiness of the exterior. A must if you're in Ledbury
|
I live in Ledbury, have been to all of the pubs (well, you can count them on your fingers) and this is definitely the best value for food. The best pies I have eaten in a pub in many years. I'm not a beer drinker, though the Belgian strawberry beer isn't THAT awful, but there is certainly a good choice of real ales. Generally nice ambience, welcoming to children and dogs and all the staff are nice.

In a picture postcard setting of cobbled street and black & white tudor style buildings you'd expect this to be your usual tourist orientated kind of place but this one came over as being very much a porper decent locals pub. Excellent variety of ales (have forgotten most of them including the ones I had), bottled beers and pretty much most kind of alcoholic beverages. Convivial locals (even if they do tend to hog the bar) though not the place to go in if you have just dropped an anvil on your big toe as they have a no swearing policy.

Brilliant pub, doesn't pretend to be anything else, good banter, very welcoming and a pleasure to be in. 6 Real ales on, a good selection from 3,8% up to 5.5% and a revolting Strawberry beer which I only had a sip of. The beers were in excellent condition, served properly and they were fairly priced. How this pub does not win Camra pub of the year is amazing.
|
This pub seemed the obvious choice on my first trip to Ledbury and I wasn't disappointed. A very good selection of beer - I plumped for the Hobson's Mild which was very pleasant indeed. I also had the beef baguette and chips which was also very good. Friendly bar staff, nice ambience, etc etc. Top drawer!
|
Excellent pub, with Hobsons, Wye Valley HPA and Sharps Doom Bar regularly available, plus guest beers. Also, the best choice of imported beers in the area.
Runner-up in the Herefordshire CAMRA award for 2009/2010 - presented 17th February 2010.
Music sessions every Wednesday evening (from 8:30ish) - all singers and players welcome.
|
The grinning one has said it all. I will add that the barwoman graciously offered to remove the (wretched) sparklers when she noted our conversation about same, and that the beer was excellent and keenly priced at around 2.60 a pt.
"OUT OF THE STATION AND TURN RIGHT",and don't trust google maps!!!
|
Visited on Saturday lunchtime (when we eventually found it - don't trust Irishmen with maps to know their left from their right!) to find a warm welcome even though they were pretty busy - mainly with eaters rather than drinkers. Good selection of ales (plus a couple of ciders on handpump) at reasonable prices. The food menu looked good and, again, reasonably priced. Efficient and polite service including the offer to remove the sparkler.
I'd certainly visit again.

Returned to Ledbury for the first time in five years this weekend. The Prince was good before but is even better now. Well done lads.
|
Good selection of real ales, well kept, & at a decent price. A nice change to see a pub that isn't the same as all the others - ie, selling Carlsberg, Carling & Stella! Oranjeboom is the "standard" lager here, with Kirin Ichiban as the 5 percent option. Could actually afford a pint of it in here too! Good range of foreign bottled beers too, including a 14% lager. Live folk music on Wednesday nights, can get very busy!
|
Had the pleasure of returning here on our train based pub crawl. It was a pleasure to take a bunch of mates in to sample the great hospitality, beer and food.
Steak and Kidney Pie, chips and peas....wonderful.
|
I think it would look better in Pink
|
Enjoyed a return visit to this charming pub with well kept real ales. Also enjoyed the food this visit. Much better Friday lunchtime than when we called in again Saturday lunchtime and struggled to get seats. Beware of the stools in the bar area. I gave my finger a nasty nip as the padded seat was loose and jammed the finger between the pad and the wood when I tried to move the stool forward from the crowd seated round the bar. May loose a nail but the management didn't seem bothered.
|
Best selection of real ale and continental beers in Ledbury by some distance. The 'Timmermans' draught strawberry beer is a good refreshing summer alternative. Great place to while away an evening with friends, just remember not too swear and be prepared for the consequences of too many pints of Doombar the day after!
|
oops...Spikedrivers!!
|
Called into Ledury on a visit and as I was parking up the TomTom sounded the proximity of a Camra GBG08 pub. It turned out to be this little gem. I use little sparingly as it seemed to take on Tardis proprtions! Had a cracking pint of Wye Valley Butty Bach. There were 3 other draught beers plus some interesting lagers and a range of bottled beers from Belgium, Germany and beyond.
I noticed that the fantastic "Spokedrivers" are playing there on the 5th October. Well worth a beer and blues night!

Good selection of ales well kept will call again

Called in while looking up Good Beer Guide pubs in Ledbury and found it to be a charming old pub up a narrow lane of quaint shops. Had a Cottage beer and one the landlord wouldn't give the name of as there was a competition running to win a gallon of beer if you could guess the brewery and beer. Food menu looked good, but we were a little early to eat.
|
Popped in quite recently. Still seems as good as previous comments suggest. Likeable eccentric clientele, wonderful falling down water, interior full of unforced olde worlde charm. It does this pleasant little town proud. Just don't tell everybody.
|
This was a bloody good pub before, but the new landlord has, if anything made it even better. Expanded the beer range to four changing real ales, exoanded the menu without increasing the prices, and increased the entertainment without losing the original clientele & 'characters! Well worth seeking out!!

Friendliest pub in Ledbury! Full of character (or should that be 'characters'?!) and a great atmosphere. The kind of place you can wear what you like, relax and not feel out of place, any night of the week.Get down there!

A hidden gem this one. Usually good beer. Small bar and small long lounge for eating. Cheapest food and drink in town. Landlord has no swearing rule, which he adheres to strictly. Folk nights on Wednesday.
