The pub was stopped, by the police, from selling takeaway beer recently - during lockdown.
Like a couple of other local establishments - due (apparently) to tables and chairs, arriving on scene.

One of the best real pubs in Harrogate. A fine selection of impeccably kept real ale. Unfortunately they now appear to allow dogs and children. Not a fan of smelly muts when I'm trying to enjoy a pie and a pint.

A true British pub. Highly recommended by PC Jones. 6 local, hand drawn ales, cheaper than The Alexandra of last night. Pork pie and mushy peas with mint sauce, BRILLIANT! Its the only thing on the menu tonight. I like that idea for a pub. "This is what we have. Enjoy!" All food proceeds go to Martin House children's hospice. Pint of Copper Dragon Golden Pippin 3.9% typical blonde ale, but very good for the type. Timothy Taylor Landlord 4.3% bitter, creamy with a very nice hoppy finish, a new favorite. I'm tempted to go back tomorrow, but I'm afraid of missing another gem.

Visited on a busy Friday night and found this to be a decent place to enjoy a drink. There was a reasonable choice of real ales on the bar, the Daleside being in good order, and served by friendly staff. The locals were all friendly and provided a good atmosphere. There was nothing particularly special about this place, but on the hand, nothing at all wrong with it either - certainly worth walking slightly out of town to visit if you find yourself in Harrrogate.

A proper pub with a good selection of local ales. Took some former colleagues along here recently and it was given a unanimous thumbs up. Recommended.

Great pub, great company, great food. I can definately reccommend a night out with the landlord, a great night.
|
Had a couple of decent, reasonably priced (for the location) pints of Copper Dragon, which was poured properly, northern style.
|
A friendly Pub with a fine selection of Yorkshire beers including Landlord, Copper Dragon Pippin and Roosters Cream when I visited. Food was good including thick cut sandwiches.

Decent pub which serves a good pint of Timothy Taylors Landlord at a reasonable price - great atmosphere and it was chockablock on a Thursday evening. Good.

VERY GOOD HAND PULLED BEER AND A LIVELY AND VIBRANT ATMOSPHERE
|
Decent enough pub overlooking part of Harrogate's famous 'stray' - an open field like area in the town centre. Beer was Daleside and Copper Dragon and others (Tetleys I think was there). The snacks are sold in aid of a childrens' hospice. One snack is called 'Dragon's Testicles' - unfortunately they'd sold out, so we may never know what they were/are.

I think "Blackthorns" comment about the food probably refers to the evening; in the day time there is quite an extensive menu of good quality pub grub. Strong support from Landlord for Roosters, Daleside, Copper Dragon, Taylors, etc and beers usually top notch. Varied clientele and friendly bar staff. One of the few proper pubs in Harrogate.

Good pub - staff and beer are great. It's a pity about the idiots that hog the bar. Try the Old Bell Tavern if you prefer polite rather than arrogant customers.

Suprisingly nice inside as the outside doesn't really invite you in. Wood panelled square bar in the centre of the pub and a good choice of local beers plus Strongbow cider. Not much in the way of food, but the pie and peas for 2.95 in aid of a local children's hospice seemed like a good deal.

Excellent traditional drinkers pub just off the Stray, superb beers from Daleside, Copper Dragon and Taylors available. Comfortable, spot-on staff, also has an interesting range of bar snacks and an even more interesting range of whiskys and whiskeys. There is an almost unobtrusive TV for big sports occasions and a spanish corner.

Nice pub on the edge of the town centre. Small, but well kept range of guest ales, usually involving Roosters and Daleside. Horseshoe shaped bar that gives the impression of several rooms when in fact it's just one. Friendly place that seems to get quite a few of the "ladies who lunch" set in. None the worse for that though. Only food we've tried are sandwhiches which were pretty good. Well worth a visit. It's just along the street from the Tap & Spile as well, so you can have a mini pub crawl.

Been a while since I've been there but it used to be the best pub in town, The Old Bell run's it a close second, but the atmosphere and quality of beer at the Coach area second to none

Comfortable multi-roomed pub around a central bar. Food is good; choice of 5 ales, all from Yorkshire - Rooster YPA excellent. Has a TV (no Sky)

Definitely one of Harrogate's gems, only surpassed in my opinion possibly by the Old Bell. In my occasional experiences here I have always found friendliness from a mixed, although generally well-behaved bunch, and very nicely-kept ale: the Daleside offerings are in good nick and should be sampled (they haven't had to travel far so I should hope so!). I haven't eaten here since the '90s so shouldn't comment on the grub, but what's been said below looks promising. For reasons I'm not entirely sure I can define, this is a cracking "afternoon" pub; one can really get comfily ensconced and dig in for a mellow session.

Great pub, lovely friendly landlord. We ate some fine grub there too one lunchtime from a wide choice, and although it was a long time coming we got a sincere apology from the landlord before we had a chance to complain and a free beer to make up for it. The food was delicious when it arrived so the wait was worth it.
