user reviews of the Telegraph, Moorgate

please note - reviews on this site are purely the opinion of site visitors, so don't take them too seriously.

The Telegraph is more restaurant than pub: it's obviously aimed at the City lunch trade, and does it very well.
Have visited four times in past six months and found service at bar and tables very good: they probably assume you only have an hour to spend. Food a cut above the average pub fare and priced accordingly. Beer seemed a little pricey but it is a City Pub after all !
Yes, it's quite "echoey" due to the décor: not a place to take someone else's wife for a quiet tete a tete.
There are certainly better "pubs" in the area, but it's an excellent place to have lunch

Banker central this one, but as a Fullers pub at least you could get a decent beer, and the service was reasonably good as well for a city pub..

" Haven't been here for a couple of years, but went twice in December for Christmas parties. Ale was well kept and service good considering we were not easy customers. Didn't eat, but will go in the New Year as menu looked good and chefs on display in an open kitchen. "

There are a number of excellent Fullers pubs in The City but unfortunately this is not one of them. My first visit last night and I shall not be returning. It's a single large room that seems designed to echo noise back and forth, and is surprisingly charaterless for a Fullers. Draft beer selection was a little disappointing with only Pride, Discovery and Chiswick on tap and, surpisingly, no bottled Honey Dew when I enquired. Ordered food which was expensive even by City standards - 10.25 for a distinctly average burger and chips. Service at the bar was slow and disinterested even though it wasn't particularly busy. There are a lot of far superior pubs in this area much more deserving of a visit.

Yes it's dull and featureless, but it's a good alternative if you are looking for somewhere you can find a seat and have a chat without having to shout over the music. [Dr Butlers Head is nearby but can be full, and Gable is too noisy]

If I worked in Moorgate then I wouldnt have a problem with The Telegraph as a close by lunchtime or early evening venue for a decent pint of Fullers. But as a pub to search out when visiting the City, I wouldnt bother.
To carry on the theme of the previous postings, its a fairly dull and character less example of the Fullers Food & Ale establishments with a clean, but fairly boring standard modern dcor interior.
The positive is that its tucked away down an alley way off Moorgate and benefits from a large outside drinking area and on a warm evening like last Thursday, with the big windows open, then its a decent place for an outside pint.
But there are a lot better pubs in the area and a lot better examples of close by large Fullers establishments that are worth walking a bit further to, The Counting House in Bank and The Banker under the arches at Cannon Street for example.

Good place for the summer as it has a large amount of standing room in the alley outside, along with a decent selection of lagers. Usually full on thursday evening and friday lunchtime / evening and the atmosphere outside is very pleasant. Inside it is a standard modern gastro pub, not much to write home about, and standard City prices.

Im a big fan of the more traditional Fullers pubs so I wasnt overly impressed with this place. Only Pride and Discovery were available alongside a selection of premium and standard lagers and although the Pride was good it was expensive at 3.30 a pint. There was also another ale that was unavailable but I couldnt read the back of the clip to see what it was as the pub was so dark.

There is a servery at one end of this large pub and ample seating throughout the rest of the available space. There are big windows that open up onto the walkway outside so that during the warmer months the smokers can converse with their friends whilst enjoying a cigarette.

I thought that the staff were pleasant enough, but I doubt that I will find myself standing in the dark whilst sampling the high prices and cheesy music in here anytime soon.

Fairly dull and characterless Fuller's pub in a side street near Moorgate. Full range of Fuller's ales but at 3.25 for a pint of discovery it was very far from cheap. The inside was pretty dull although a good amount of standing room outside is good for summer evenings.

Fullers have been turning a few of their pubs into smart, stylish gastro-pubs. Shaws Booksellers in Blackfrairs is another example. It's a nice place with good food and good beer, the ale is well kept. It is a little on the expensive side, but no more so than any other (similar) venue in London. Agree with others that you could compare it to an ABO, but I like the fact it's tucked away a bit so when standing outide in the summer (or sitting by the big windows they open up) you're not breathing in exhaust fumes.

Not bad, reasonable interior, quite modern, more of a bar than a pub but nothing to complain about. Good range of beers and attentive staff. Busy on a friday night but not rammed.

Liked it. Step up from ABO I think. Good staff/managers, nice atmos, good on a sunny day too.

As other people have said, similar to an All Bar One etc. Serves Fuller's beers - but only Pride, Chiswick (cask) and Honey Dew (keg) - no ESB. Some fairly decent bottled beers in the fridge I recall.

You could do a lot worse in this area. Good for large groups/office leaving drinks etc.

Not a cheap place and similar to All-Bar-Humanity and Slug and Lettuce but better. However has some decent beers and decent wines.
Clientele seemed better than the usual City crowd - not sure they know about it yet....

Staff were attentive and helpful - but only two of them on duty, which meant a bit of a wait at the bar.

Will go again.

Rather basic decor, has an All Bar One feel about it.Well kept Fullers beers, attentive friendly staff.

Great pub. All the staff are nice and friendly which you don't always get in the city. Food can be a bit over-priced but hey you can't always have everything! In the summer you can drink outside and the atmosphere is ace!

Currently my favourite City Pub. Get in there earlier enough to grab a couple of the leather high backed chairs. Good airy open windows in the summer. Decent beer & wine - something for everyone!

Fairly new pub, located in in Telegraph Street (off Moorgate). Friendly atmosphere, good beers and very decent food menu. Fills up quickly with city workers in early evening, but service remains good.
