Went to this place for lunch (not for the first time) and we found the food to be dreadful and the lady who served us rude. The fish & chips were OK (no mushy peas) but the liver and bacon was truly shocking - bacon barely cooked, raw cabbage, and strange tasting liver too!! I truly don't know how they can justify their steepish prices. The one good thing to be said for this place is the lovely rural location and large family garden area. Will not return!

The Shortlands Tavern, Shortlands
Passing in the car the other day - couldn't help noting that this pub looked as if it might have closed down. There were old window boxes that hadn't been changed for ages, the blinds were firmly closed, and was in need of a lick of paint or two.

The Compass, Bromley
Had not been to The Compass for quite some time so I decided to pop in the other evening. Expecting it to be packed to the rafters given it was a busy evening of football fixtures, I was pleasantly surprised to find just the opposite. I plumped for a couple of decent pints of Adnams Southwold Bitter. The Landlady and staff were very welcoming and the service friendly (which is not always the way in Bromley sometimes it has to be said) The usual selections of larger were on tap and just the two of Adnams and Guinness too (i think) as far as bitters/ales. All in all I was pleasantly surprised and would defiantly pay another visit.
