Went for lunch here today - the food is fantastic and their is a good selection of Thwaites beers (which is quite unusual for this part of the world). The landlord was quite friendly and Andy Grey was sat at the next table!
Recommended.

Quality Victorian pub. The second calling on our Metro pub crawl and a lovely pint of Enville ale set us up for the next stop on our descent into beerageddon.
Highly recommended.

The Great Western, Wolverhampton
We started off on our Metro pub crawl and it's just as good as always, gorgeous Batham's pleasant surroundings and good service made for a pleasant way to start the boozeathon.

We took the trouble to drive here a few weeks ago (it's about 25 miles from home) on a saturday night - we were not disapointed. There was even an offering from Weatheroak Ales, (which is actually round the corner from where we had come from). The Vine is an authentic 1930's pub that has remained largely untouched and has much of the traditional boozer that is sadly lacking nowadays - friendly staff, great beer and even the fish man came around selling his wares. Highly recommended.

The Old Contemptibles, Birmingham
What a difference to how it was. When it closed I thought that it was lost for good, so three cheers for the brewery for spending so much money on it. Good, well kept ales and good food, even if it is a little pricey.

I like this pub despite the most miserable staff I have ever encountered. It seems to close at random times, but the prices are very reasonable. The pub is in a lovely victorian building and is close to the old contemptibles - I usually combine the two if i'm in town as the old contemptibles is quite pricey. Handy for snow hill station

A truly lovely victorian pub. The beer seems to be well kept and the staff are frinedly. Be warned it's small and gets very cramped on match days.

A wonderful, fantastic pub. My only gripe is that the Batham's always seems to have sold out before I get there.

The Village has had a recent change of management which has made a difference - polite, friendly service and three hand pulls, Brakespear, Oxford Gold and Cumberland Ale. It's a simple well run chain pub, that whilst lacking in character somewhat is still worth popping into on a saturday night if you can't face the teenagers and coke heads that seem to take over Moseley at the week ends.

I have to echo the previous two posters - I have never been anywhere like it, at least not in the past twenty years. The chestnut mild was good, but the boddingtons was very bad. If they could do something about the overwhelming stench of wee, then I think I would practically live in the bull ring tavern.

I returned to The Lamp Tavern on friday after a long hiatus. In these dark days of pub closures it was good to see that The Lamp Tavern is as good as ever. We found That's What I Call Hops 2 and Sword were on tap as well as the ever reliable Stanway. If you haven't made it to the Lamp, then make the effort - it's a gem.

The Village Inn, Moseley
The Village has really improved in recent years, to the point where it's probably the only place in Moseley where you can expect good beer at decent prices without it being a)cliquey, b)full of cocaine fuelled chavs, c)overpriced, d)LOUD LOUD LOUD tasteless music (I sometimes do want to smash the jukebox off the wall though). It's not anything other than a normal pub, which is well managed and well patronised. However, Marston's want to convert it into flats, they argue that there are plenty of other pubs in Moseley, yes there are, but see above. We are in the process of setting up a 'Save The Village' facebook page, so if you care about preserving decent pubs then show us some support! With a little investment, this pub could be a winner, but I don't expect Marston's to be interested in anything other than making a fast buck.
