Flying Childers, Stanton In Peak

Another cracking Derbyshire pub.Takes a bit of finding but worth it when you get there. They do reasonably priced food although no-one was eating on our visit so cant comment on the food. There is a cozy small bar on the right as you enter, with a real fire and a larger room on the left as you enterThey had two draught beers on pump. One was a Chatsworth beer at 4.8%volume.I drank this beer,I knew I shouldnt cos it made a mess of me,but it was superb.I was glad that they closed at 3.00 or I would have had a bad home.Beautiful flavour.I cant remember what the other beer was.Open lunchtimes, except monday and tuesday, until 3.00pm and open every evening from 6.30pm.

The Duke of York, Elton

Cracking boozer.Just like many pubs in Derbyshire used to be 30years ago until they have either closed down or gone for the up market foodies. The small bar has a fire burning which makes it cosy and the locals that use the pub are very friendly. Also has a larger room and a snug. They had two proper beers on pump,Adnams bitter and Marstons Burton bitter. The Marstons was good,(although I think Marstons beer has gone downhill since being taken over.It always seems to have a twang with it.),but the Adnams was superb.Didnt want to leave such lovely beer.Good selection of crisps, nuts etc. They stock bags of nuts and raisens!Havnt seen them in a pub for years.Well worth a visit but,as previous post stated, only open in late evening or Sunday lunchtime.

The Druid Inn, Birchover

Called in for a few pints but it is a foody pub so not very boozer friendy.Had a pint of the"Druids" beer, brewed by Leather britches, and it was good.Food very expensive. Some people must have more money than sense as we saw some people eating and their food didnt look very good for the price. They had Huntsmen pies(Chicken,Pork&Stuffing)on the bar.Small 2.50&Large5.00.No wonder they had plenty left!

The Abbey, Derby

Super pub.Can only assume previous reveiwers were unlucky.Spent enjoyable Sunday at this friendly pub and the SamSmiths OBB was superb, and good value when you can have seven pints for around a tenner(1.47/pint).Only had the upstairs open and it was pretty nippy inside but was informed that they are opening the downstairs in the next couple of weeks and getting the fire going.Should be lovely.Didnt see any evidence of"Slops" being used.Is someone getting a malicious rumour about?Cannot praise high enough the beer we were served.

The Three Horseshoes, Wessington

Pub now re-opened with new managers.Had Pedigree and Landlord on the pumps.Went for the Landlord and it was superb.Had log fire burning which was nice as the weather now is getting nippy.I hope this manager does well as I think the last licensee did a runner.Didnt sample the food but menu is usual pubchain fare at usual pubchain prices.Hadnt been in the Horseshoes for 20+years but will call again.Nice to see it open again.
