Recently changed hands and they have altered the old system of happy hour until 7.00 pm.This has alienated many people and I can only see disaster for this pub. Why do people want to change things that worked well before ?

Cannot give it any more as no cask ale. However deserves a rating for selling bottled versions of cask ales and friendly atmosphere it evokes.
Hopefully cask ale will be introduced when custom increases in the holiday period.

Licensee stripped the pub bare. Took the urinals and everything he had paid for as fixtures and fittings. Serves Punch Taverns right for squeezing him dry.
One day the pubcos will get what they deserve = liquidation.

Why has this pub got an 8.3 rating ?
Is it open or is it shut ? Who knows. I thought BITE was about BEER and not food.
Got fed up going all the way fro Southport to Ainsdale on my mobility scooter to find no cask ales on and the excuse 'we've run out' when I was the only customer.

Second visit today and certainly not disappointed. Speckled Hen as it should be served
Staff again friendly and amusing. No hesitation in recommending this excellent venue.

6 Cask Ales on when I visited on 4/3/2010. Tne Taylor Landlord was excellent and friendly staff created a welcoming atmosphere.

4 Cask ales in excellent condition.Happy hour makes it definitely the place to go on any afternoon after 2.00 (not Friday to Monday)and any evening except Friday and Saturday. Look out for Lisa behind the bar though. Excellent food from an extensive menu.

Don't know if same manager as last report but if so things have good downhill. Beer very expensive and not good quality (maybe that's why there's hardly any customers). Took accommodation here but for the price charged should have stayed in a first class hotel in Windermere. Indifferent attitude to guests really did not help our yet and dreary stay.

A bit noisy on the music but great on prices. When you are on a pension it's good to find pubs that try to give their customers value for money. Nice place for a pleasant afternoo session if the weather's ok.

Not the place for a pint of real ale. Never seen anyone order it. One of the dearest pubs in Southport and also one of the dirtiest. To be avoided.

Typical Wetherspoons. Can't get served. Food is their main interest as on 3 visits I took back 4 pints. They should take a leaf out of a couple of better Wetherspoons I have visited who have seperate tills for food and hot drinks and employ one person to specifically look after the beers. Sorry Timmy. You haven't quite got it right in Llandudno.

As good as ever. Don't like change as usually for the worse so thank goodness the beers are the same good quality - the staff just as friendly and the homely surroundings exactly as I remembered them. If only I could take this pub home to Southport I would.

Pleasantly surprised on my return visit. Obviously trade has improved considerably with 3 bar staff on and a wider choice of ales. Quality of beers excellent. This pub certainly deserves a better saving than 6.6 as I believe it is now on a par with the Kings Head. Sadly there is no disabled access but I believe this is due to a negative thinking local council. Recommend a visit on your next holiday in lovely Llandudno,

The Berkeley Arms Hotel, Southport
Unfortunately now closed down. Was one of the best in Southport but someone decide a block of flats would be better!

6 real ales on. 4 Marstons, Cumberland and Tribute. Manager meticulous over his beers and his wife a real character. Will certainly return.

Totally agree with every good comment made about this pub - and more! Ale in perfect condition - staff humorous and so friendly and access for someone like myself who is disabled well catered for. by bid

Do not bother if you are disabled or want cask ales. The Manageress only accepts disabled customers who have both legs amputated and actually says that these are the only true disabled people.
There are no cask ales and when they do have any they are undrinkable.
