| I agree with pretty much all of mcroyal's reviews, but would just say that I had an excellent Thwaites here last year; I reckon the beer quality on a sample of one was certainly Beer Guide quality, and think the number of pumps is secondary (the Cheshire Lines round the corner did brilliant Tetleys in the past). | Not quite sure how this got into the Good Beer Guide - only one ale on (Thwaites Wainwright**) and not a place to take your granny unless she likes karaoke!!. However, the barman was extremely chatty - perhaps he was glad to speak to someone instead of having to listen to the pensioners and their karaoke! (I reckon it's the same people every Sunday). | Another uninspiring choice in Southport, not far from the main shopping street. Thwaites Lancaster Bomber & Wainwright were on. Live football was showing on a big screen. Service was friendly. | Thwaites pub with a mid-20th century exterior- brick and leaded windows. Inside, it's opened out, with one large, unremarkable L-shaped room. There seems to be an emphasis on music, with a very loud jukebox and a large motnage of famous singers on one wall. There is also a pool table towards the rear of the pub. I had a pint of Wainwright, Lancaster Bomber being the other beer available. It was in good nick.
