'What all the comments fail to realize is that bad publicity is still better than no publicity.' Wobblybobbly.
I think Gerald Ratner has some opinions on that old myth!
If I was in Horwich, I would certainly avoid this place. 'Wicker Man' and 'Slaughtered Lamb' spring to mind..
Landlord, your locals really aren't helping you!

Good beer
Good Atmosphere.
Plenty of eye-candy behind the bar.
What else do you need?

But do they still do their special brand of speed-dating?

Nice clean pub, but felt a little sterile on my visit.
I am told the live music is good, will try it soon.

If I was writing my own reviews, this is how they would look....

Its a bit all over the place at the moment.
Hopefully a new owner will be found and it will get its act together.

This place confirms my theory that bars with 'wacky' names are like businessmen in loud ties; They are just trying to cover for the fact that they are fundamentaly dull!

A very valid point callaigh.
All I would add to it is - Don't drink there, either...

Had a fantastic game of tit cricket in here one summer evening.

Ok, but could do with more than one barman on gig nights!

I know its a beer site, not a food site, but you have to eat here to be able to drink..
My currywurst was very poor, and there wasn't much of it, so overall, very bad value.
Such a shame, as the location is nice and I do like the idea...

Not quite sure why my comment of yesterday was removed?
So, to reiterate, I gave the barman a twenty, and he gave me change for a tenner. When I questioned this, he immediately handed me the other tenner (which he had in his hand) saying ' Oh, I wasn't sure, so I thought I'd wait until you asked'!
I expect he would have put the other tenner back in the till,obviously....

The Slug and Lettuce, Clapham Junction
They don't have to try too hard, so they don't!
Last time I visited a member of staff wiped our table with a cloth so filthy that we had to move because of the smell..
There is better nearby..

Agree that it is more gastro than pub.
This is strangely reflected in service, with superb restaurant staff and completely off-hand bar staff.
Well worth eating there.,though...

I deeply enjoy going to pubs and believe you get what you pay for.
If money was that tight, I would favour a can of Special Brew in the park over this place!

Described by friends as 'Like going for a drink in Ikea', I have to confess that this is one of the very few Slutton pubs worth going into.

Nice, friendly unpretentious pub, with live music and entertainment.
Afore-mentioned changes in management make it difficult to comment on food.

Relies entirely on its lovely setting by the river.
Otherwise Wareham has far better to offer!

Hmm. Turned up to meet a friend on a Tuesday evening.
Kitchens were closed and the atmosphere was reminiscent of a morgue! Bar staff spent more time on other jobs than behind the bar. Beer indifferent

Lovely pub, with friendly atmosphere. Food, whilst not bad was slightly disappointing.
A great walker's stop off, though,

A great, friendly well-run pub.
Service is always good, staff and regulars helpful and welcoming.
Doesn't pretend to be cheap, which keeps the chavs out!

Nice pub, with Tim Taylors Landlord on draft.
Excellent Sunday roast, too!
11 Jul 2007 14:28
Nice pub, but wastes its potential to be a friendly local.
On my last visit, the Brummie bar man chose to launch a racist rant behind the bar! Won't rush back...

Still very much a Brewers Fayre at heart!
Indifferent food and indifferent service from one of the greatest spots on the South Coast.

Back to harbourdrinker's profile
The Bath Arms, Brighton
Cheerful and attentive staff.
Decent pint of Black Sheep.
Good Sunday roast (always a good indicator of quality)
Relaxed atmosphere.
Great one for chilled lunch, rather than lads' night out.
