Website says its been in the Good Beer Guide for 5 consecutive years - doesn't say which though! Last time it appeared was 2016. Sunday lunch and packed - every table taken for food orders. Appears as though there are two roasts for the price of one (£11.95) - although quite what you do if there are 1 or 3 of you, I don't know. The beer was disappointing. Four hand pulls on and I went for Wickwar Falling Star. Far too cold - far too murky. Good community boozer though. Mappiman - 6 Jan 2020 10:54 |
Visited on 6 Aug (Saturday lunchtime). The Wickwar BOB was well past it's best, but the bar staff changed my pint for a Wickwar Cotswold Way (which was in fine condition) without any objection. Friendly chat with man at bar who also had Cotswold Way. Ordered food but one sandwich was forgotten and then took quite some time to appear when we asked about it, which was surprising since it was not busy in the pub. Nice beer garden for enjoying the sunny weather, and overall a good atmosphere but if the beer and food isn't kept in check, then what else is there to a good pub? What a little gem! Beautiful village pub, very friendly, well appointed, and with excellent rooms to stay over. High-quality rooms with none of that stuffy british b&b culture. Great food, I sampled both the inclusive breakfasts or the capacious lunches. An excellent location for a weekend away or just pop in on a sunny day and enjoy the huge beer garden and excellent beer. What every village pub should be. Cheers Brendan. el_gordo - 9 May 2011 23:53 |

You can't leave it, can you Mister X.. First we are chavs, now we are numpties, how you love to insult us all from behind the relative safety of your keyboard.. At least you are starting to understand that your entries here are subjective and not fact ..... that's a move forward.. I suggest in that future that you refrain from making insulting comments regarding a pub's regulars, reel yer neck in mate! I'm sure there are many pubs out there that are in urgent need of a MisterX review, So run along now, you've plenty to do...... CyclingCiderGlider - 27 Oct 2009 16:10 |
