Ok, so there is a reason to visit Odiham other than to drown yourself in the canal. This place was very impressive. Visited on a nice warm day and stopped for lunch which was a very pleasant experience. Proper food, none of the expensive plastic shit served in the high street pub. Staff chilled and friendly and very good beer. Definitely one to stop by when another sunny day occurs. I was dodging a few stray tumbleweeds, but I'd rather be in a nice quiet pub than in a crap house full of guffawing, belching monkeys. Quality.

Nothing special really in fact lost potential. Full of noisy old farts dribbling all over the place at the bar, eating area feels cramped and you get "eat up quick and bugger off, we get busy you know" looks from the staff . Food is not some of the worst i have sampled in my travels but the price of the grub is a little high if you ask me. This is as far as i have dared go to drink in Newbury, the town is stuck in a sinister time warp and has been forgotten. The pub is average, i've certainly had worse, not experienced any rudeness from the manager, but he did seem to be on the verge of being cocky last time i went there. Not worth Bulldozing, but not really worth visiting either. I recon it could have so much potential if run properly. You can do better than Newbury.

A very decent pub, good atmosphere, really nice setting and close to home so very convenient. Bar staff are friendly, no miserable trouts here. Food as you would expect from a country pub is very nice, reasonably priced and the beer is great. The place has a very cosy feeling inside, how a country pub should be. A place I will be spending more time in.

Average. Remember going there with my old man and the waitress asked me for ID- when i was 18 at the time and having a meal too. Amateur. Plastic interior with a touch of a sinister atmosphere. Usually love the experience of such a hole, but in this case this place was one i will not return to. Food although passable was overpriced as was the beer. Touristy seemed to be the flavour of the place, but why you would want to visit Odiham unless you wanted to drown yourself in the canal baffles me. Anyway, this place is one to miss i think unless you like average places- it's more a restaurant really, so if you want that visit Bluebeckers down the road.

The Globe on the Lake, Alresford
Popped back in last friday, very busy at lunchtime (good to see) and we hadn't booked, but the barmaid let us have a table anyway. Good service, usually i've been ushered out the door if i haven't booked at a posh pub. The food although expensive was top notch, very nice but being critical i would have been happy to see more food for the money, but the experince was pleasant. Was dodging a few tumbleweeds about an hour and a half after we had been there but on a workday it was expected. This place will be even better in the summer when i can eat in the garden next to the lake. Will be visiting again.

The Horse and Groom, Alresford
7/10 rating- interesting. Went here today after visiting the Globe and was greeted by an atmosphere like a shit pub in Farnham on a friday night. Very loud, oppressive and SMOKEY. But i felt that sunday is not a day to see the full potential in a pub. Strangely enough i felt that it may be that sunday is just a day for bums to come out the woodwork and that this pub has more going for it than it showed. It certainly felt like on another day this pub may be quite pleasant, so like the Globe I may give this one another shot.

The Globe on the Lake, Alresford
Visited today and was surprised when they called time at 2.15pm- especially when the other pubs in Alresford were open. Obviously don't need the money. This place seemed to have potential. As said before cosy is the best way to describe it. The big pond/lake out the back certainly provides a decent back drop to enjoy your pimms and scones- a lot of Range Rovers and tweed jackets around, but i am more than willing to give this place another shot- just not on a sunday especially when the staff seemed more interested in ushering us out the door than allowing us to finish our drinks.

Oh yes! Multi head popping flavoured vodkas and alcopops. yum, yum yum. NO. I don't expect to see a place like this in our historic capital- my heart sank as i saw this place tucked away out of sight near the city center bogs. To be honest spending a penny in the bogs is a far more pleasant experience than going in this place. Cold on the outside, nothing better inside. Is there no hope.

Looks like this place got forgotten, at one stage i thought the sign was going to crash down and kill a pensioner but to my knowledge its still there. Inside, well, again, lost in time, dusty, smelly crappy little excuse of a pub. Just walk past if you thing of going in. But watch out for the sign though.

A good little place when i visited this summer. They obviously like wood because it is everywhere. Obviously couldn't choose a decent wallpaper. It is situated in between the rather desolate St Austell and the pretty busy Truro. A decent place to pop into on the way to the beach.

Nice pub, good place to go if you want to avoid the rather crap centre of alton, sat outside on most of my visits, nice atmosphere, as said before the gardens are great and really invite you in for a relaxed drink.

Watership Down, Freefolk Priors
Smashing pub a few minutes from home- cracking good food, friendly landlord and nice country setting. Haven't been there at night but in the day this place is great.

The Crown and Anchor, Winchester
This place has a chilled atmosphere to it, as many have said here, a pretty decent pub. Not much choice on tap, but what is there is poured properly (guinness)and tastes right. The daytime experience is very pleasant, and one particular mate of mine loves the burger and chips- bloody great portion for the money you spend. A good place to go for a chilled morning/afternoon pint.

My legs couldn't carry me fast enough out of this pitiful place. On thinking it would be a good idea to go for a quiet drink with some friends in this place we went in. Oh dear! Having been there 2 minutes my friend ordered the drinks and was asked for identification. He produced a valid drivers licence. The landlord grunted, deemed it a "fake", and after my friend assured him it was real, he told us to f**k off, and when my friend refused to pay for the drinks, the landlord came around the bar- fists clenched. Needless to say my friend paid, we left and never went again.

This rather strange place has a rather anonymous, barn like atmosphere, with most people sitting in corners minding there own business. No conversation guaranteed! The bar staff seem to greet you in a fashion only seen in a village pub- a stare of "who are you" flashes on their face, so relatives and friends only!

People queue for ages to get into this dump. The music volume puts a stop to any conversation you may want to have- unless shouting all night is something you can handle. This place is always crammed with students on a friday night making this pub appeal to young people who like to wait for ages to drink. But don't worry guys, if you've got a yellow card you are among the "elite" who manage to buy a whole nights drinks with a fiver. Good for those who want to binge drink and want to end up being sick in the park, but for others who want a chilled out pint- forget it- go elsewhere.

Good pub, nice ales and a good atmosphere on a friday night- almost always a band playing which is a good thing. Also a good place to go to avoid drunken college students.

Unfortunately, bring a pub that to my mind is a miserable excuse of a place to a quiet town and you attract a hell of a lot of young foul youth that sit there in their gangs, looking at you wondering if they could beat you up in a fight. The one time i did get to drink in there (you will be lucky to get in as it is usually packed) i wanted to leave as soon as possible. The place may have the slightest hint of an atmosphere- untill they turn on the loud thumping beats of DJ Massive etc. Conversation becomes difficult and add to that a lot of teens drinking jugs of foul looking liquid and then falling about- you have a foul place to be on a friday night. If you survive the onslaught of foul gazes from "barry bruisers" dotted around the place- run. I never went again.

The Bourne Valley Inn, St Mary Bourne
This pub is right in the countryside near to Whitchurch, and is a fantasic country pub that serves great food, has a good a atmosphere and is one of the few pubs that can serve you a pint of guinness that tastes like it should because it has been poured properly!

This Pub is fantastic. Even for a small place its got a really big atmosphere- real friendly. A good place for real ale, as it has a good selection. It also has a cosy beer garden which is good for sitting in the summer months, and at an arms length from the train station- a convinient place to go after/before a long train journey. The train sticking out the wall and the dildo on the toilet pullchain also gives the place a unique feel to it. Good stuff.

This pub is poor. I was dragged there regularily when i was a student on the excuse that it was near to the station. The place is always packed so you can't move and is almost always incased in smoke. Also if you're very lucky, you'll enjoy a fight in the back yard, and then try pitifully to avoid blood and bits of glass as you fumble through the crowd of drunken students puffing away bellowing to their mate mearly 1 meter away. Escaping upstairs to the pool room is no conselation- because it will take hours to get a table. Thank god i hardly ever bought the drinks in that place.

This Pub is great. It is a small pub close to the town centre, and has a very "aged" feel about it. The pub serves a selection of quality ales that change often. It managed to pull me through my college time, and left me feeling merry after a miserable day. The landlord and staff are friendly and i would recommend this pub highly to anyone who wants a decent quiet drink.

The Running Horse Inn, New Alresford
Its a good pub this one. Having said I would return to other pubs in alresford I thought I'd give this one a go instead and I'm glad I did. Compared to the globe and the horse and groom it definitely has the most welcoming atmosphere and the best overall experience. Sat outside on my visit but had a look around inside and the decor and set up gives off a cosy feel. Staff friendly too. The car park is very convenient but it has a blink and you'll miss it entrance, my mate giving up after still not being able to locate it after a few tries. Good stuff.
