The Running Horse Inn, New Alresford

Its a good pub this one. Having said I would return to other pubs in alresford I thought I'd give this one a go instead and I'm glad I did. Compared to the globe and the horse and groom it definitely has the most welcoming atmosphere and the best overall experience. Sat outside on my visit but had a look around inside and the decor and set up gives off a cosy feel. Staff friendly too. The car park is very convenient but it has a blink and you'll miss it entrance, my mate giving up after still not being able to locate it after a few tries. Good stuff.

The Bell, Odiham

Ok, so there is a reason to visit Odiham other than to drown yourself in the canal. This place was very impressive. Visited on a nice warm day and stopped for lunch which was a very pleasant experience. Proper food, none of the expensive plastic shit served in the high street pub. Staff chilled and friendly and very good beer. Definitely one to stop by when another sunny day occurs. I was dodging a few stray tumbleweeds, but I'd rather be in a nice quiet pub than in a crap house full of guffawing, belching monkeys. Quality.

Swann Inn, Newtown

Nothing special really in fact lost potential. Full of noisy old farts dribbling all over the place at the bar, eating area feels cramped and you get "eat up quick and bugger off, we get busy you know" looks from the staff . Food is not some of the worst i have sampled in my travels but the price of the grub is a little high if you ask me. This is as far as i have dared go to drink in Newbury, the town is stuck in a sinister time warp and has been forgotten. The pub is average, i've certainly had worse, not experienced any rudeness from the manager, but he did seem to be on the verge of being cocky last time i went there. Not worth Bulldozing, but not really worth visiting either. I recon it could have so much potential if run properly. You can do better than Newbury.
