We feel for the people running this lovely pub, as the road closure continues far longer than planned. Well worth following the diversion. We had a superb late lunch, cooked to order with special requests of variation from the menu. Delightful waitress. Looking forward to returning locallymilledflour - 5 Aug 2019 18:54 |
Nice pub and reasonable restaurant too. I stop in from time to time for a quiet drink or two; Clive and Debbie are really nice people, as are the regulars. Situated on the outskirts of town means that it never gets full of idiots too. georgey48 - 25 Jun 2013 12:55 |
Well run pub. Usually a good choice of real ales and good food. Nice log fire in winter and pleasant large garden in summer. Staff generally friendly and helpful. sylviajoan - 12 Jun 2013 23:33 |
Four of us had a main course and pudding plus two or three drinks here on Friday lunch time and it all came to £78. The menu had a good choice and not too pricey and we found the food very enjoyable. The bread and buttere pud was a great hit. I had two pints of Ringwood fortyniner 4.9% a fresh and not too bitter ale. Friendly atmosphere in the bar where we ate and very affable bar staff. A good experience-and well worth a visit. redbarrel - 14 Apr 2013 12:14 |
One of the better pubs in Alton and after the departure of Helen and Nigel a few years back has regained a lot of its trade it lost following them leaving. Food a bit pricey but good standard and plenty of choice of beers to suit most tastes. Bar staff friendly and helpful but if only same could be said of the landlady. Stern, morose and unsmiling countenance is very offputting and gives the impression she would sooner be elsewhere. Cheer up ducks it may never happen or maybe it has! goutbuster - 5 Sep 2011 15:25 |
