The Bull and Butcher, Corley Moor

Bank Holiday Monday August 2007, Good Beer well Kept
Excellent Food, Now a bit of a whacky warehouse, families and children. THE INEVITABLE "BUT" we waited over 1 hour for food we where asked three times did we need more drink by the waitresses but still no food. Although we had an apology from the landlady all she would say is there was a mistake by a waitress that got all the food orders mixed up, Sad to say my last visit here for food, as the landlady made no attempt to redress the problem hinting that the chef was more important than the customers. No free drink or a discount for the inconvenience. would have given an 7

The Griffin Inn, Shustoke

2nd visit here and other visits by friends support the general views reflected here, 10 real ales, old hooky, pedigree, old peculiar, lots of variety, sometimes a 10.2Vol beer here, blow your mind. nuff said a great drinkers pub worth of the CAMRA Accolade.

The Bartons Arms, Aston

Yes it is a victorian dream, fantastic interior, good range of ales beers and bottled beverages, can be pricy though, More interested in having the Thai restruant I think, seemed somehow cold and big to me, vey high ceilings, made it seem like a church or a victorian baths, we stopped going because in the week it is poorly frequented in the early evening and the owner/manager is very very chatty and intrusive, but a must stop for a crawl, something for everyone here, especialy the sloping bar floor makes you think you are allready drunk. I like this pub and will visit again.

A drinkers pub, a smoke free area, real ales, good range, cant give this pub the accolade it could have, just lacks the character for me, maybee its the overall feeling, hurry to serve you staff, and no familiarity/joviality, not rude just efficient, also the pub has retained its original victorian decor, wich for some is ok but for me dowdy and oldish, you know the brown ceiling feeling.

The Spread Eagle, Acocks Green

A typical Weatherspoons, busy, rowdy, good fare at reasonable prices, BUT say I warm beer sometimes and as always an excuse why a certain real ale is not available, more and more the city pubs that weatherspoon own are becoming chap and cheerful eating and drinking places without the CAMRA type requirements, in the book for now but watch it weatherspoons you could loose the real ale ratings. Kings heath, Fox & Goose, Briar Rose. etc... all a poor 5.5 for me

On the corner of Tame Road.
The second and posher version of the old white rose, same owners, same good reports, A genuine CAMRA Publican. Currently includes Sarah Hughes Sedgley Surprise, Burton Bridge, Stairway to Heaven, Bathams Bitter, Archers Golden, Exmoor Gold, Pardoes, Entire, Oakham JHB, Fullers London Pride. and an ever changing range, Excellent good value food. Nick Worral, Knowle

What do we want, good first welcome, good selection of 6 hand pulled beers, mild on tap, good local support, consistent CAMRA pub 2003,04,05,06 etc... tucked away in a side street, and not to be missed, the landlord knows what is required here. Friendly but not intrusive, a professional a must visit pub.

The Prince of Wales, Birmingham

If visint broa street birmingham looking for well kept beer and a genuine pub, dont look any further, have visited here many times, beer always good, a good range, and a CAMRA pub to boot, clean, cosy and nothing like the posy bars and crowded broad street hype. A vist here is worthwhile.

The Nursery Tavern, Coventry

This pub outshines the competition by far, craven arms? and the beer engine?, there are at least 6 other pubs within walking distance, pass them all by and pop in here, a drinkers pub clean old, genuine, bigger than you think, in the middle of a residential estate next to houses, a CAMRA pub for me, not to be missed when in cov,If you support rugby then there is nowhere else to be. Dissapointed that out of 10 guest ales advertised only 4 where available, But WOW all good.

The Lamp Tavern, Birmingham

An excellent hidy hole, compact and friendly, a must on a crawl if doing the anchor down the road, this pub has a good local following and the owner is known to look after his regular clients well. comfy and a beer drinkers pub, a small stage and entertaiment section at the side. well worth a visit

The Craven Arms, Coventry

this pub has a lot of competition, there are 5 in the immediate vicinity, crowned with the best cov pub around the Nursery Tavern, we visited recently and found the pool table eats up a massive drinking area, Very shoddy carpet, chewing gum and nub end burns, Excellent pint of real ale, all the standard beer available, busy and friendly, but dirty and drab, would only visit on a crawl.

The Black Eagle, Hockley

An Oaisis in a desert, this pub is well run, it has a wandering garden with many unusual varietys of plants slightly compact but nice, Extreemly good food, A true Homely pub with character, locals are a good bunch, 2 rooms with an open fire in the winter. Plus a long extension for a restruant.
Would definately take the wife and friends, would like more real ales here, but a proper CAMRA pub. a must visit.

The Burnt Post, Coventry

Recent visit here confirms, a definite place to visit if in coventry, Good range of real ales, very clean and tidy, good staff, very big with many nooks and crannys, Better layout than Toby inns but similar, much lighter and brighter, Good local support with a large regular following, a residential type environment, would take the wife and friends.

The Beer Engine, Coventry

Bad part of cov, looked pretty chancy for us from brum, nowhere to park properly, one or two guest ales but pretty basic, not a CAMRA pub for me. to little on offer, and would leave this to the regulars, not worth a visit unless you dont know where the nursrey tavern is. Few seats, looked like someone had stolen the furniture, however pleasent staff and a very fiendly dog who played ball with us diving amongst the garden tables.

The Olde White Rose, Bilston

More grub than you can eat for a fiver
go back for more veg, 3 slices of meat like three steaks

smoky, poor surroundings, a bit grubby, a desert in an oasis
no jukebox, plenty of groups drop in, good local support
Always busy, quiz nights and entertaiment.

Always friendly, brilliant selection of beers, so much so we travel from birmingham regular, just to get a good nights beer

As stated before Kwak on draught, sometimes Leffe Bruin, wheat beer, belgian beers, trappist monk in a stick of beer.

An all round good CAMRA pub and a well deserved review. 8.5 out of 10
