Went today all problems were everybody else's fault, obviously thought over 2 hours to wait for a plaice dish that had as much fish as a piece of scampi was acceptable. The landlady is manipulative when dealing with complaints making you feel that you are in the wrong for daring to question anything about her pub. richgib - 28 Jul 2013 20:14 |
Went today with family on the recommendation of a few colleagues. It didn't live up to the recommendation one bit - the food was awful. We all had different things and there were 5 of us so it was a good test. The main courses for 3 of us were inedible - nasty mash, never been anywhere near butter or milk, awful pies with soggy pastry, gloopy juices and horrible meat. Desserts were also awful - a crumble that was completely drowned in custard so no crumble to be seen. The "fresh ice cream" was nothing of the sort - just squirty stuff similar to from a van. And the bakewell tart wasn't a tart - it was a sponge on top of something that should've been pastry. It's the worst food I've eaten for years. Sharon_Anne - 16 Apr 2011 20:05 |
Busy pub at an intersection of country roads. The front bar and snug were quite atmospheric, despite being busy. The outdoor smoking shelter was also packed. This being our 9th pub, we'd grown a little peckish. So we retreated to the more modern restaurant area at the rear. The sweet potato & celeriac soup followed by a Rabbit Pie was more than I could manage. Although whilst contemplating how much I could stuff down me, I was able to admire some of a local artists work that was being displayed on the walls and was for sale. Ward's Best Bitter, Bass, Brew XI & Abbot were the 4 cask ales on offer. A pub I would certainly give another try. blue_scrumpy - 28 Feb 2011 22:53 |
This pub is in a great location with country side views, great facilities in the garden for families and couples alike. Lots of parking. Was very busy Sunday dinner time so must be popular, a good sign we thought. Ordered a Sunday Carvery. Carvery was disgusting!! Vegetables all soggy, cauliflower grey looking, mashed potatoes watery, roast potatoes almost black were soft and oozing with grease, turkey and beef very dry, however Yorkshire pudding nice. Staff very friendly, when complained took comments on board and told management and kitchen. However management never came to see us, just walked by. Nothing more was said. We did not finish our meal and came home hungry and out of pocket. Went to supermarket to get something to eat instead! Very disappointing as only 18 months ago had a great Sunday dinner. What has happened.....Now one to miss! Call in Gordon Ramsey GAF.19 - 16 May 2010 17:13 |
I was a regular last year got attacked each time i went in there to vote for the Godiva pub awards, they won which i would say would be curious. Landlady noisy and pushy, locals only likley unlikley lot in what they call the SO SO irish bar on more than beer. No longer in my eyes a family pub, i will not be taking back my kids again jelly2jelly - 9 Jun 2009 19:32 |
