The Hoop and Grapes, City Of London

Best pub in the area.
Good selection of ales (Spit, Bishops and 2 guest alternating). There are also 3 bottled ales which can be a welcome break from the regular beers.
The Asahi-Orangeboom-San Miguel choice of lagers is refreshing. (not a Fosters in sight).
Good pub-grub at reasonable prices, and 2 levels above the main bar provide plenty of alternate space should the bar be crowded, including two dart boards and board games!
All-in-all, a good boozer!

The Green Man, Wembley

Been here a couple of times now. Last night was the first time I was able to enjoy the beer garden.
Well maintained lawn. Nicely-tended trees, and a great view of THE stadium.
2.60 for Carlsberg / Carling / Fosters.
Friendly staff and hidden away enough so that it feels quite rural.
Will definately visit again.

The Greenwich Pensioner, Poplar

As I previously informed you, the gang from the Brunswick are now in charge.
London Pride @ 1.90. Carlsberg, Stella, Boddingtons and Guinness at affordable prices. Plus bottled Bombardier, Spitfire and Abbott.
Karaoke on Thursdays, weekly quiz coming soon. Darts, pool, Sky Sports and music to entertain.
Ideal for a quiet pint, or family gathering.

The Greenwich Pensioner, Poplar

Good news for all pub goers.
A new company has taken over the Pensioner.
As we bid farewell to the Brunswick, (another victim of the big-business bully-boys), we now have the Pensioner back from the dead.
Having been a gay bar for a while, it looks plush in the bar area.
The decor leaves it with a mixed-up identity, but, given time, the owners are committed to changing it back to former glories!
Currently selling Fosters, Stella, John Smiths and Guinness. Soon to add Carlsberg and XXXX.

All Bar One, Canary Wharf

Can this place really be as bad as a 1.7/10 rating suggests?
I'm afraid so!
Do the staff here actually recieve training in ignorance, or is it just some god-given gift?
Imagine working here if you cared that the public thought the standard and quality of the beverages was worse than a night drinking Harp or, dear God, Hoffmeister?
Shocking!!!

The Grapes, Limehouse

What a historical little place.
Good beer (Adnams), reasonably priced. Just over a fiver for me and a vino for the missus.
Brilliant food, (grilled salmon and haddock), combined with a river-side view made last night an extremely pleasant experience.

The Churchill Arms, Kensington

Hmm. Is this a pub that serves food, or a restaurant that serves beer?
The food is very affordable. Nice size portions. As for taste, well, i'll leave that to youir own taste buds.
The beer, that's beer, not lager, was of good quality.

The Famous Green Man, Ewell

I must admit, i've just looked on the new Green Man website, and i'm amazed!
As a former employee of Moose Inns, it's great to see.
I can't wait to go back in and see for myself. Stuart

The Antelope, Tooting

I can honestly say that, having worked for Jack Beards a long time ago, I tiptoed into the building wondering what exactly I was going to walk into.
I can imagine that, during an evening, it can be rowdy, boistrous, and fun. However, if you happen to be either A) Non-Irish, or B)Non-Celtic, it COULD be very intimidating!
Ireland this, Celtic that. Is Tooting in Kilburn?
However, I would go back. Heather is leaving at Christmas, so i'd like to go back before she goes.
Merry Christmas, one and all!

The Brunswick Arms, Poplar

New seating area outside, allowing those few days of sunshine to be aqppreciated.
Families welcome.
Quiz on Sundays, as well as various fund-raising nights and karaoke on Thursdays.
Check it out if you want to see a local, in-expensive pub!

The Gun, Coldharbour

Having waited so long for it to reopen, my initial impression on the way it was laid out seemed to convince me that the good old days are, definately gone.
The decor is very nice. The paintings are amazing.
The staff are, on the most part, polite and attentive.
The striking thing about the place has always been its view over the Thames. Admittedly, it still retains the feel that The Gun always had, but now it seems that us locals have been priced out of another of our pubs.
3 a pint of San Miguel? Someone should tell the owners that E14 is NOT the West End.

The Star, Ewell

Basically, everyting Jason says.
Especially the staff. V foxy

The Brunswick Arms, Poplar

One of the few remaining East-End pubs in the area.
Rough to look at, due to the numerous builders who've frequented the place over the years, it can be a great place to have a damned-good booze-up.
Pool tabel, outside seating, and SKY TV.

The Uxbridge Arms, Notting Hill

Truly, walking through the door to the Uxbridge is like stepping back in time!
Old fuddies talking of the good old days.
Fox-hunting. The Empire. Where one will be spending ones weekend, etc. You get it all.
It appears stuck-up. It IS stuck-up. But, however, it still retains that frindliness that makes it a must-see for anytone who remembers how pubs USED to be...

The Famous Green Man, Ewell

Having not visited the pub since moving away, I am in no position to offer any other comments other than, although a little rough around the edges, the staff, Chris, Darren and Paula in particular, always made me feel nothing short of welcome.
This is more that can be said for other pubs in the area

The Pier Tavern, Isle of Dogs

This used to be one of my favourite pubs. Good food. Decently priced beer. Friendly staff and locals. Can get a bit rugby-obsessed, but brill for a piss-up.

King William IV, Ewell

What can I say that hasn't already been said? Comfortable, friendly, good food, brill mamager that supports the Hammers! Almost perfect!

The Wheatsheaf, Ewell

The kind of pub that your mum and dad would have loved! Friendly locals, gorgeous, polite staff and clean.

The Star, Ewell

This is one pub that I always enjoy entering. Attractive staff, friendly guvnor. Nicely lit, it has a good atmosphere, fine ales, and is always clean.

The Famous Green Man, Ewell

Whils a little on the dim side, it has character, warmth and a friendliness that other pubs in the area do not possess.
maybe i'm biased, but then again, I also live there!
