Ye Olde Red Lion Hotel, Market Bosworth
Good choice of real ales. The one I tried was a very nice hop and citrus combination. Wife had pot of tea and got two full cups out of it. Will return next time we are around. Only negative was lack of a disabled lavatory - had to negotiate five steps up to the standard lavatories.

Went for meal with wife recently. Two meals for 5.99 deal is cheaper than many JDW pubs - excellent value. Food service was quicker than can happen (at busy times) and ale was excellent. Even when there is a queue it is well worth waiting!

Now part of Stonegate Pub Co Ltd, same as Yates's. Menu slightly more up-market and less competitive than Yates's.

Tried a few weeks ago, fish & chips was most disappointing. Probably not cod but some foreign stuff?? Will go across road to Claude du Vall in future as that IS proper cod. Driving, so did not try ale.

Yates's Wine Lodge, Camberley, burned down on 26/05/2012. Fire in first floor spread to roof, which caved in. Stonegate Pub Co cannot yet say whether the site will re-open or not. News sites give photos.

Excellent local Westerham ale, though I only tried one of the three. Food very nice but rather expensive. Car park very convenient (and influenced our choice of pub). Gents not good for walking disabled, and impossible for wheelchair users, as was access to bar/restaurant.

Attended function with about 25 people. Food good but not all as expected, e.g. sticky toffee pudding was simply treacle pud, apple crumble was not crumbly, more like a pie or pudding. Roast dinner, soup and pate all very nice, but at 18.95 + 10% for 3 courses it ought to be. Coffee turned out to be included in price, but this was unclear until bill arrived, so we missed out, although they had run out of decaff anyway. Would have had tea if known price was included at time of ordering. Ale was OK (Doombar) though a bit pricey. No disabled toilet found.

Disabled WC a bit cramped for a wheel-chair use. Food prices look high, but table next to me had huge plates of sandwiches, making it look reasonable value.

I would disregard any reviews prior to March 2010, as this pub is now very different following the JDW takeover.
The bear over the door remains, but inside is very different. The staff are local as far as one can tell, and this is now a very good place for anything from breakfast to dinner, with or without ales - of which there was a good selection the last times I was in. I now visit here at least weekly.

Address incorrect: delete "Arlington Square", and "Berkshire" is no longer part of the postal address. Still no real ale, and food prices just went up again. No competition on ales or prices for nearby The Old Manor, though the tables are a little wider spaced here!

Excellent food and generous portions at competitive prices. Ale is also well kept. TV screens can be noisy if a match is on, so not for romantic meals out!

When last there I asked whether they plan to get real ale. Seems they don't fully appreciate that this is a growth area! Went to the Wetherspoon near Cheam instead.

The Happy Man, Englefield Green
The food I had was excellent (Scampi chips & peas) as was the (Ascot) ale. I shall certainly be returning, and have told family & friends how much better it is than when we were students. Dave himself is an ex-student from RHC(RHUL). Haven't been in much for nearly 20 years. Must visit again soon!

Food and ale good but pricey. Was most surprised to see three dogs mixing with customers in bar area, one went behind the bar twice, and even tried to get into the kitchen (but could not open the door). American person disgusted and will not be going in again (dogs in pubs illegal in many countries).

Stag and Hounds, Virginia Water
Pub closed early 2010 after often failing to be open until closing time. Last time I wanted to go for a drink with family it was closed, yet it was only 21:35!
Rumoured to be for sale/to let, but not shown on the Greedy King site as such yet.

Last few food visits have been at breakfast time or curry club, plus once for steak club. Also drink here at least once a week, and the ale is always reliable. Food is up to the expected standard, though one or two tables are now a bit on the wobbly side - one (No 3) was seriously loose on its legs! Hope to have Sunday club lunch before long.

The Moon on the Square, Feltham
Visited twice recently. Very nice curry and ale, and also excellent breakfast. Some round tables a bit rickety but no worse than elsewhere.
19 Apr 2010 21:32
On my last visit the smell of the lavatories made me abandon the visit before I had chosen what to eat.
19 Apr 2010 21:29
They used to leave the disabled WC door ajar, resulting in urine smell, but seems to be better now. Enjoyed breakfast and also a curry here in recent weeks, ale good too - and now a beer festival in progress.
19 Apr 2010 21:25
Excellent food - have had breakfast and chilli con carne recently. They used to leave the disabled WC door ajar, resulting in unpleasant urine smell, but seems to be controlled better now.
19 Apr 2010 21:22
Not good for the disabled - car park very sloping and too gritty, skittle room ramp too steep, no disabled WC and slippery floor in the gents'. Food good but not worth the access hassle for many disabled persons.
19 Apr 2010 21:07
Skittles alley room had no real ale. We expected Rebellion IPA as on a previous visit, but none now - just fizzy Tetleys.
Access for a disabled bloke was appallingly bad - the worst pub he had been to in recent years: steeply sloping loose-gritty car park, too steep ramp into door. No obvious disabled parking space(s). He will not come here again unless they make it comply with the DDA..

Definitely now a Loch Fyne restaurant. Greedy King seem to have lost a huge amount of trade, as this car park used to be very crowded, but now seems little used! It was quite good for food and ale five years ago.
16 Mar 2009 16:31
Local CAMRA says this is open again, but currently no Waylands ales! However with only Young's "ordinary" at present there is scope to get some Addled or another Waylands ale on as well.

I stopped going here in 2006 pending the end of smoking, and JDW had been a bit misleading about it - so I didn't try again until Summer 2007, and now come in monthly (approx).
Breakfast seems to be consistently well prepared and still quite good value. Rarely eat here later in the day. Good ale range, as one would expect, and at usual good JDW prices.
18 Mar 2008 18:40
Last time I was there the Gents' WC suddenly started gurgling, and lots of foul smell came up it. Couldn't get out fast enough! Apparently this was caused by somebody flushing the Ladies' or possibly the Disabled, after they had done a very smelly one!!
Haven't been back since.

The Three Legged Cross, Warfield
Local CAMRA reports this is under new management. I haven't been in since the change, but my previous comment about smoke would no longer apply. I hope the ale is as good (or better).
6 Nov 2007 00:05
Prices have increased since my last report. Breakfast now about
3.98 including (excellent) coffee and toast/preserves. Still good, but not as good as six months earlier. Beer festival on now!
5 Nov 2007 23:57
Quiet and air clean. Nice pint, pity I could not make room for another - amazingly no disabled toilet!
26 Mar 2007 22:10
Still quiet and comfortable with range of guest ales as well as the usual JDW range. Food hot and up to usual standard, and a bit faster than last time. Nice coffee and toast/preserves for 99p, and with breakfast at just 2.10 is amazingly good in spite of having increased.
26 Mar 2007 21:58
Went elsewhere last Friday, as did numerous regulars - it was full of very loud karaoke "singing" and a private party (or maybe it was all the same lot).
Young's "Ordinary" consistently good, as are the Special and Wells's Bombardier.
Food apparently remains rather good, but at prices well above The George, which remains quiet most evenings and has wider range of ales.

The Three Legged Cross, Warfield
Small quiet pub, but much too smokey - roll on July! Good ales, inc Adnams & Fullers last time I was there. A bit cramped for more than a small group.
10 Jan 2007 00:32
Rather limited range of real ales, nice cup of tea - but pricey!
Can't comment on the food. Don't sit near the door to the conservatory in winter - the waiting staff leave it open to carry food, and the customers freeze! Recently a group of us found it closed for the (Tuesday) evening without warning.
10 Jan 2007 00:22
My previous comments (08/01/2006) refer to the Manageress being very good. She has apparently since left.
12 Feb 2006 22:53
Poor air quality - needs better a/c, though it is only weeks before all JDW go non-smoking anyway.
Disabled access poor to family area. Often crowded but still quiet enough to chat.
8 Jan 2006 12:18
Food above average for JDW, but can be a little slow on busy evenings. Range of real ales usually good to excellent. Service usually excellent, clean air, no noise or games. Main bar is very disabled-friendly, rest of pub is not - due to age of building and differing floor levels.
8 Jan 2006 11:54
Food about average for JDW, sometimes staff don't know what the options are - e.g. item substitutions to comply with diets. Breakfast sometimes arrives missing tomato and mushroom - but they follow promptly if you tell them. Manageress very good, when she is around, and her deputy is good - its the others (who presumably cover staff shortages) who can be a bit unpredictable. Range of real ales usually good to excellent.
8 Jan 2006 11:47
Management changed in November when Phil & Lesley retired. It was Phil who wore a smart suit! Prices of the food shot up immediately, no longer competitive, particularly with The George (JDW) down the road. Young's "four for 5" deal on bottled beers also suddenly ended. After being a regular for many years am reconsidering. The only "plus" is that they are rumoured to be going for a non-smoking area - it had been getting seriously unhealthy at times. Loos still well kept.

Royal Forresters Hotel, Ascot
Name typo - there is only one "r" between the first and second syllables! There was no real ale on Father's Day - disgraceful let-down.
