Been here numerous times.
Used to be pretty bad, had a number of chavvy regulars... but was taken over near 10 years ago by a husband and wife with their large family supporting them. It's usually a family member is behind the bar.
They cleared it up well, got a good base of regular drinkers and always welcome new customers in. Really warm place.
Duke box is funny too with some really rare stuff mixed amongst the more popular stuff.
Full refurbishment a while back so now has a pool room, smoking at back and front and large glasshouse and huge garden area at rear for Summer use (but is open all year).
Toilets are always clean too.
Bosses seem to treat the place like their home so it's always clean and tidy, warm and welcoming.
Occasionally music on during weekends, but is usually tied to a Birthday Party etc of some sort, but normal customers are never turned away.
Landlord makes the food himself and always does a good job and doesn't scrimp on quality of the food. Decent price too for the big meals you get.
Decent beer, cheapish too at £2.50 or so for bitters and mild, Guinness is good, lagers have never been moaned at... pipes always clean, I've never had a bad pint.
Possibly the best all round pub within the entire Telford area.
No real ales though. Carpark at front is small but the place is walking distance from Dawley's main bus stop.
Great place.

Pretty good these days.
Welcoming, they've moved the entrance around so that the pool table fits properly. Still a bit tight for space though.
Decent food. In fact, food is probably the best pub-grub in central Telford.
Beer isn't bad, could be better but the price is good.
Friendly staff too and the toilets are tidy.
Not bad, not great: As far as a selling point goes it's a bog standard drinking den for Footy fans that serves pretty decent food.

Could well be.
Though I think 1 out of 10 is kind tbh. It's called something else now.
Should be a 0. Place is awful. Under new management recently but the regular customers are the same.
Not a regular: Get your head smashed in.

Last time I was there I had a chair thrown at me by a chav... because I wasn't a regular.
Landlord then swore at me as if it was my fault and told me to leave.
Nuff said.

Bigger selection of real ales than years ago, quite expensive for Guinness though at near £4 a pint.
Other beers are well priced and they have special offers of "buy so many and get a free one". Beer is good too, not tangy or vinegary.
Pool room (has two tables) is a bit dirty, floor hasn't been cleaned for a long, long time. Pool tables are decent though.
The toilets by the pool room are filthy though, if you need to sit down, use the other toilets in the music/lounge room
Lounge room that has live music at weekends is well tidy though after the overhaul, and has much better toilets.
Music isn't to everyone's taste, mainly thrash rock and heavy metal and blokes who wear eye shadow.
Friendly atmosphere though... staff are welcoming. Never ever seen any trouble in there.
Just needs a bit of an overhaul in the pool room and pool room toilets.
Run by a relatively large family rather than just a landlord with a bunch of disinterested staff, which adds a better atmosphere.

The Church Wicketts, Malinslee
Haven't been here for 4 years. And for good reason.
Place was going downhill for a while, but one Saturday afternoon I went in and the Footy was on.
A group of lads were snorting cocaine off the table in front of the pull down screen that was showing the Football, so everyone could see it.
Nobody batted an eye and the landlord simply didn't care. I left to walk down into Dawley and had a decent night elsewhere.
Later that night there was a riot, tons of cops, blood, glass, knives. I spoke to an officer as the road had been blocked but I wasn't allowed through for my own safety. Had to wait an hour before I could get home.
Beer was always pretty good though, so that's a plus. Only one plus mind.

Been here widweek and during weekends...
Dodgy, dodgy, dodgy...
Filled with chavs most of the time and often gets the attention of the nearby Gypo camps due to the Irish name.
Last time I was in there, it was packed with Gypos speaking some kind of inaudible accent, and one of my friends had their handbag stolen.
Beer is crap, tastes more like dishwater. Doesn't seem to matter who takes this place on, it's always been a dive no matter what kind of pub they try to make it.
Used to be a basic pub, then a wine bar, now a faux Irish... always been a hole.

Typical chain pub.
Watered beer, generic food (usually overcooked and tastes microwaved), staff who have no interest in their chosen job and prefer standing up the back playing on their phones, bad service, not very clean when there's more than 12 people in there as spills never get wiped up.
Been here maybe 4 times, once was on a Friday night... never again. Not an enjoyable experience when you're crammed in like sheep slipping on a beer soaked floor or getting wet elbows at the bar.

Been here a few times. Always friendly.
Beer is a good price and tastes good. Guinness is excellent.
Heard that the place was a hole beforehand but the new landlord seems to have cleaned it up well.
Decent pool table, good beer, friendly staff and landlord. Locals are welcoming too and don't mind talking to new people and readily welcome them in.
Only problem is parking. Carpark at back is more of a driveway and holds only 3 cars at most.
Smoking shelter has been installed now though at back by the carpark.
Lovely place now compared to what I've heard about it before.

Been here numerous times. Used to be a right hole.
These days though, it's a lot better.
Knocked through the back and extended into where the toilets used to be so there's lots more room in the bar on the left. Bar on the right (lounge) is comfy, always has been tbh.
Beer has never been super great but it's good for a night out.
Pool table is good with plenty of room after knocking the back wall out.
One problem, the staff never seem to wipe up after spills, meaning the surface of the bar is often flooded.

Been here 3 times. First time they served Guinness that tasted like vinegar.
When I told the barman, his response was "other people are drinking it" and he walked away, leaving me with my crap pint.
Both other times weren't great either as the beer tasted tangy and the staff weren't bothered.
I also had the same problem as tartar and his wife of the staff ignoring me to serve the regulars. Not a welcoming place at all.
Pool table is a mess. Food is overpriced for what you get.

Rose and Crown, Telford
Most of the regulars are weed smokers. Smoking area always stinks of the stuff and some of the regulars look dodgy as hell. Seen a number of them selling counterfeit goodies from DVDs to tobacco to clothing and footwear.
Pretty decent pint for the price, don't think I've ever had a bad pint tbh...
... however, good luck getting served if there are some regulars in there.
Took me 15 minutes to get a pint on more than several occasions, as staff will serve every single regular before they even look at you.
Older Barmaid, I think is the Landlord's wife, is usually pretty sharp and tends to throw your change at you. So not too welcoming.
Pool room is tidy, but extremely tight for space. Get more than 2 people in there and you'll be knocking people's elbows with your pool cue.
Tidy throughout though, toilets are clean...
... they seem to cater more for the karaoke and DJ crowds than anything else, so if you're not part of that crowd you might find yourself sitting in the pool room not talking to anyone, with an empty pint glass, getting your glass knocked over by the pool players' cues.
