The Old Castle Hotel, Weymouth
This Hotel says it is dog friendly but with a lot of restrictions, went there with my small dog the place is clean and has a lovely large garden. Bought two pints and went to sit down in the bar area and was told we could only sit in the garden or the covered smoking shelter that has a heater as they do food inside.
If the weather is inclement the garden is out only leaving the smoking area and if you do not like cigarette smoke poses a problem.
If you have a dog, only go there during the summer months on a good day.

Planning permission applied for and granted with Grade Two Listing consent. The building is now being converted into five flats with on site parking. The Albert had been a pub for the last 164 years.

The business is up for sale. No surprise he has driven all his local customers away. Hope the next owner has a better attitude towards his locals and tourists alike.

Pubs up for sale with freehold at £425000. Good old Punch Taverns. If sold hope it stays as a pub, but in this day and aged very unlikely. Will be a great loss to the village.

Planing application in for demolition and construction of a restaurant/brasserie, 30 residential units (including a managers maisonnette), managers office, car and cycle parking, waste storage areas, landscaped public open space, rainwater harvesting tank, new vehicular access from Ferrymans Way and new shared surface service layby access from Portland Beach Road. Shame if it goes ahead.

Just to add to my last comment. The Landlord has now banned dogs because he does not like dog hair on the floor. What next children or even customers?

Since my last visit things have changed. I visited Friday evening. As you enter the first thing you notice is the amount of computer made notices telling you what you can and cannot do, with the threat of been barred. One other local person in the bar apart from landlord at the bar. The standard beer and lager lines. The landlord was surly for some reason. Talking to the local who only comes in for one pint because he cannot walk far. Seems the landlord has driven his local trade away because of his strict petty rules. In this day and age you need every customer, especially your locals. Will not be coming back.

Police hate the place and are trying to revoke its 24 hour licence because of the trouble in and around the place.

The Smugglers, Wyke Regis
Pub changed hands August 2021 everything started off well, then a large turnover of staff in all departments started happening and still going on. Went there today Sunday 13th March after walking the dog, the pub was closed, this has happened before.
Not a good sign as this is the last pub standing in the area and I am a firm believer of use it or lose it.
