Given the size of the pub the bar area is too small; bar manageress not the friendliest either. Outside garden area is big but plagued with insects.
Putting that all aside, it is a good pub with decent range of drinks and never seen any trouble there. Is most expensive of the three in Benfleet which might explain my last observation.

Friendly enough in my experience but is the cheapest of the three near Benfleet station and so unsurprisingly can be the rowdiest and youngest on a Friday & Saturday night. Decent selection of beers though and mid week is quiet and welcoming.

New owners have clearly made a real effort here and deserve some praise for that. Has bouncy castle and playing area at the front for kids but still hasn't lost its atmosphere primarily as a drinking man's pub. Very nicely priced.

Hands down the most impressive pub in the City. Usually busy but service is good, as is the range of beers and the food. Also has private areas and quieter first floor at the back if that is your preference.
Don't know what else you could ask for from a pub.

The Cock and Woolpack, City Of London
No doubt it's a good pub, tucked away on Finch Lane and serving good ales plus reasonable sandwiches. I can't help but think it is over-rated by many though, is also very cramped when busy.

The Lord Aberconway, Liverpool Street
One of the best pubs close to Liverpool street, reasonably prices. Offer Timothy Taylors and Pride along with a couple of guest ales. Is oldy worldy decor (which is new, was refurbed about 4 years ago). The food is surprisingly good, try the pies. If you can, get a table on the mezzanine where they offer table service. Speaking of service, it is very good.
Go hear a lot for lunch and after work, can not recoomend it enough.
Note there is no TV (to my knowledge).

The Kings Arms, Liverpool Street
Has a great basement bar with two pool tables, tv and giant connect-4 (whe nthe bar maid will let you play it). Unfortunately they have a habit of not opening the actual bar downstairs so you need to shuttle up and down for drinks
Has a back garden which is to some degree secluded and prices not too high. With all that said there is something I don't quite like about the place, with that said the bar manageress is very friendly.
Can be very busy at lunch time and you will have to wait to get served; food is just so so

Now called the Wall but remains as souless as before. The beer is amongst the worst I have ever drank at a pub. I aviod like the plague and only go there when dragged to it by colleagues, simpley because it's close and you can sit outside.

Afraid stilkl very dirty and not looked after at all but the beer is indeed good- no room to swing a cat.

Do a decent range of beers but atmosphere is sadly lacking. Was a smoke- free pub before the ban came in so that has always been a problem here. Prices reasonable for a city pub.

Food is the best feature here though they do also offer a couple of bitters and guinness. Is pricey but no more so than other bars close by.
Probably prefer to eat lunch here then have an evening drink here.

Corney and Barrow, Old Broad Street
One of the better C&B's, follows usual model so only one draft lager on tap and forget bitter. Also expensive, as they all are. However this one not only features seriously attractive bar maids but the service level is good too.
Good for sports coverage as well.

The Anchor Inn, South Benfleet
Friendly enough staff and a good selection of beers- well worth the visit.
