I have read the recent reviews, but I still rate it well (my last review 2005). There has been another change of management in the last year, and as far as I can see, food is available at the published times on the outside boards (basically lunchtimes and evening from 5pm). The pub is fairly empty except when there is a big match on TV, but the staff are friendly. Food is good pub grub, and two meals for 8 is outstanding value. Two Green King real ales are available. We go there regularly.

The New Queen Inn, Christchurch
Went again recently for lunch. The food was very good, and the pies in particular are excellent. My wife had the ribs and she said they were fantastic. The young staff were friendly and helpful. So, recommended for a reasonable-price meal. Still not cosy enough for people just wanting a good drink though.

Have eaten there a few times in the past, with mixed feelings about the quality. It now seems to be trying to move up market. Several leather settees now fill the main bar - bit like a trendy coffee shop. When we were there, a number of young student types were drinking and chatting - nothing wrong with that, but I felt rather old in this new environment. I wont rush back. The Ringwood beer was okay, though.

Haven't eaten there - just went for a drink. Although the Badger real ales are available, it has no atmosphere for drinkers. It has been opened up inside, giving a barn-like feeling. Just not cosy enough.

This is a Harvester Restaurant these days. Not really a drinking hole no real ales at all!

Went there on a Monday evening. Quiet, but cozy atmosphere. Butcombe bitter was very good, and meals were served until 9:15. Good menu selection at reasonable prices and the portions are large. Recommended.

Been here few times. Good real ale selection available, as well as excellent food. The food prices are medium, but deals are available at off-peak times. Dedicated restaurant area at far end, but meals can be eaten in the bar. Staff friendly and helpful. Recommended.

Large, but cosy traditional pub on Lyndhurst's busy High Street. Good selection of real ales. Food available all day, at moderate prices. Pool table in a separate room. Can get crowded on summer evenings.

Very traditional pub, simply furnished - more for drinkers than diners. The menu is basic, but the food is good and very reasonably priced. Two Ringwood bitters available.

The Ebdon Arms, Wick St Lawrence
Newly-built pub, but designed to look and feel old - by and large, that succeeds. In the middle of a new, large housing development. Bar area has a cosy feel, with a couple of real ales available. Full restaurant menu available, garden, and games room upstairs.

Looks plain on the outside, but is cosy with low beams and log fire (in winter). Owned by Green King, but serves Ringwood beers as well. Separate dining area, leaves the bar areas remaining traditional. Staff were very young, but friendly and helpful. Menu is good "pub grub", very modestly priced, and with deals as well! Recommended.

It's pretty quiet during the week, especially outside of holiday times. Green King IPA is the only real ale. Food is basic pub grub, but tasty and good value for money (two meals for 8 in mid-week). Separate "sports" bar keeps the noise away from the diners. Recommended for a "cheap and cheerful" pint and bite.

Went on a fairly quite Monday lunch time. Fairly small selection of real ales, but tasted good. Separate dining room, although food can be eaten at tables in the bar area. Extensive menu available at reasonable (but not low) prices, with shorter snacks menu available from 2pm to 6pm. The young staff were efficient and friendly enough, without being overly so. Highly recommended.

Well, I thought it was pretty good for a meal. Tends to be more of a restaurant than a proper pub. Food is good and quite reasonably priced (especially the smaller appetite items). For a good meal come here; for a good drink go elsewhere.

Very friendly gaffer and barman. Homely feel in the bar, and the large grassy garden is great for the summer. Selection of Badger ales. Snacks and baggettes available for light lunches. Excellent quality, but at about 5 each, could be considered pricey. I'll go again, though.

The Sandpiper, Mudeford
We still visit this pub, although after the recent refubishment, the meal deal has gone up to two for 9. Still good value for money, though. Still two real ales, but the new gaffer seems a bit matter-of-fact. Polite, but not especially friendly. We will keep going, though.
