Not sure if the posters below just visited on bad days... This is a Vintage inn chain pub (used to be called both the Navigation / White House many years ago) on the A6 between Kegworth and Hathern. As far as these pubs go, this is a very decent one… Beer was Sharps Doom Bar, Fullers Jack Frost & Red Squirrel Scottish ale. Staff were polite, food was excellent, if slightly overpriced... I personally prefer a "proper" pub, but as we were eating @ 6pm Sunday evening this served the purpose very well. Barrow_Beer_Hunter - 21 Jan 2014 13:18 |
The Kegworth Otter looks nice from the outside but dont bother going here for Sunday lunch unless you have the appetite of a small sparrow ! Its not cheap , around the 10 mark for the main course . What little we got could have fitted on a saucer [not joking] , I had 2 small slices of COLD beef, a shred of cabbage ,a parsnip thinly sliced , a spoonful of hard carrots and 2 halves of roast potato [no mash]. All this served on a cold square plate . The gravy was nice , but failed to warm up this tiny offering . In short this meal was appalling ! I should also mention the staff are not very friendly either. I was taken there as a guest so did not like to complain at the time, this meal was embarrassing. RicardoLangletti - 29 Jan 2012 18:36 |
Superb location, good menu and in the past have had some positive dinning experiences but the last one will definately not be repeated. Which is a great shame, once beyond the frontage the interior falls short of expectations. The toilets are dirty, its shabby (tatty) and the staff have a serious attiutude problem, to the point of my family and me walking out in disbeleif and disgust at the general standard and approach offered by both management and waiting staff. They were sullen, unfriendly and really couldn't be bothered which was very evident from body language, (a shrug of the shoulders when pointed out that a starter was meant to be one for sharing, yet no second plate was offered). We were told to "wait" when we asked for a jug of water to accompany our meal, after waiting over 1/2 an hour to be served. At this point we left having suffered enough humiliation. steed - 30 Aug 2010 11:17 |
We called here after dropping a relative at the airport. Our drinks were fine as was my husbands steak. My beef and guiness pie looked enormous but contained a portion of very tough beef covered with a very thin overcooked pastry lid. We ordered coffee "floaters"which from our position , i could see being prepared at the bar. I witnessed the barman whipping the cream and our waitress dipping her finger in the cream and sucking it, then nodding her head.I presume that she was testing to see if the cream had gone "off". I visited the Ladies toilet before our departure - they were disgraceful. Seats and outside of pans needed a good scrub. We visit the airport on a regular basis but will not be calling at this pub again. charlielincs - 5 Aug 2010 21:34 |
Nice looking location near river, prob great in summer on the deck, but the attention to detail needs adressing - the male toilets need a serious clean not a once over; the food is ok but the prices would imply it is excellent. I had a mixed grill with the steak ordered well done. The blood from my "well done" steak ruined the chips; the black pudding was dry; the bacon and the white pudding was good but the whole thing was not great. 3 real ales on in good form was a big positive though. On the whole i will not be sampling the food again; trying to avoid the toilets; but reckon the beer in the summer while sat outside would be good.. ppw - 27 Dec 2009 21:33 |
